After being forced to go start a new city in the wilderness, Lady Tyressa Vishov... doesn't feature in this book. I mean, I guess she's in it, but she's barely a major character. Nearly everything she does is told through the perspective of the actual main character, her son, who this story is actually about.
And don't get me wrong, "Mouse" is a good character with a good fun fantasy coming of age story - but I was expecting the book to be about his mother. I was really looking forward to a book about a butt-kicking fantasy heroine, because those are so rare. Let alone with one whose motivations are the survival and benefit of her children.
But we actually get a book about a butt-kicking fantasy heroine's misfit son, and how he falls in love and discovers his magical powers and finds his father lost in the wilderness to ultimately save the day with a few low-level spells.
I think the title is self-explanatory. The sculpt is awesome, the paint is awesome, the glass globes on it's back are awesome: complete with brains inside. The mini feels solid without being heavy, and that's really nice with all those spindly legs.
The detail on this mini is really nice, he's big and mean and very clearly supposed to be a balor - but he's not Khorramzadah, the storm king, who is surrounded in lightning and uses a whip made of the same, unlike the common balor who uses a flaming whip.
These cards are great- I mean the quality of the print is good, and the art itself is excellent, I have no fear of accidentally bending the cards or the edges fraying except perhaps after a lot of use.
Just about every non-core item the PCs encounter in the Wrath of the Righteous AP is here (and a bunch the PCs won't encounter through the AP, but have art in the suppliment sections)... though it can be hard to find them, because they're not named.
Sure, the art is beautiful and there's space for notes, but instead of there being a name - just like for all item cards paizo prints - there's a phsyical description. Which means if the PCs find a new item, you have to go and look up in the index to see if it has art, then for it in the cards matching the art. It's a hassle.
The cards are beautiful of course, but I've largely stopped using them because I can't easily reference them at the table.
These cards are fantastic - I mean the quality of the print is good, and the art itself is excellent, I have no fear of accidentally bending the cards or the edges fraying except perhaps after a lot of use.
But they're just a good resource. Each major NPC and Villian (and a handful of lesser ones who just happened to have face art) has a full-card face-card, with name on the back and space for notes. They're good for tracking who is present, who the PCs have met, and everything else.
Absolutely worth getting if you're running the AP - and if you're not, then they're still useful, because there are a lot of varied... okay, no, there are a few 'heroic' characters but the majority are demons and prisoner-type characters. Not quite as useful for every campaign as some decks of face cards.
This excellent miniature was extremely easy to paint and assemble. However, the image provided is misleading - the miniature does not come with the additional flowers pictured on the base.
I was lucky enough to have gotten this bad boy back in one of the blind boxes, and I'm happy I did. Not only is this miniature beautiful, but dynamic and a solid beast. Excellent buy.
After receiving this miniature yesterday, I took to painting it right away. I found the miniature, and the detail to be excellent quality, with deep lines and very clean work.
The spears on her back look good both on and off, which was a nice surprise, as many connectors look garish and out of place - these don't. Fully recommended.
I recieved chivane yesterday, along with several others miniatures. Overall, the sculpt is excellent, the lines are deep, The pose is dynamic - even the base is really high quality. The only problem is that darn, disconnected left hand.
I normally have no trouble with assembling minis, but both ends of the connector have male nubs! It does look like the wrist is supposed to be female, to allow for easy connection, but it's all mangled in such a way to make the mini impossible to assemble normally. Better break out the exacto-knives for this!
