(post SCARAB encouragement) I stayed till the end of the con at request of our VC (probably would have anyway) to rep our lodge (more about that next meeting). Then I was invited to stay for the staff dinner after SCARAB and who would turn that down so I went (turned out Chris B. was there too). The GMs (VLs and VC too) had many great things to say about APL: They praised us for our ability to not meta-game. I witnessed one of the best examples at a table I played in; We had just survived (I like to look at it as a victory) an encounter with a nasty, half of us were petrified and one of the effected players had a great idea, but stoned people don't talk. He held his piece (w/o prompting) till the end of the game even though all could tell he was bursting to tell, and it could have saved a few people some gold. Hats off to zylphryx for some awesome self control, and the best example of not meta-gaming I've ever seen. To reinforce that I also heard of the many great role players; our lodge was more interested in playing there character then any advantage gained threw meta-gaming. We also as a group had some of the most interesting character role plays. Stories where told over and over about the crazy or just plane cool things we did and seceded at or spectacularly failed in. Also it was noted how loyal we were with our "no man (or woman) left behind" mentality. There were many times other players would hide during combat or simply run, but APL had each others backs and GMs respected that. This makes me proud to call myself a member of this lodge and adventure with its members. I was told by a few GMs that our lodge was so successful due to Paul, Dain, and I putting so much energy and love into it. That didn't help my pride issue, but I was able to channel the Falcon of Death and redirected the compliment and feinted humbleness. It is the lodge as a whole that deserves the credit, we have some stellar GMs and players. People that will step up and organize events like Luth, Thorynn, or our Shadow Lodge. Some great players that step up wanting to try GMing, or the ones that show up week after week to every meeting without fail, people willing to immediately accept new players into the fold making them feel like they belong. This is to you oh adventurers of APL. You are part of a lodge I'm proud to claim membership to. We can't forget our FLGS The Wyvern's Tale for the amazing support we have gotten just short of a year now (man it feels like longer). There are some things I'm forgetting I'm sure and quite a few stories to share. Next time you see me ask about it and I'm sure there are others with there own fond memories. -Jake

Your lodge says it serves the "corps of the organization," and I'll believe you serve that goal until shown otherwise. Your methods, while I personalty do not agree with them, may be different but keeping others safe is a goal we have in common. While those Aspis knaves have been a thorn in our side for far to long, I have recently witnessed some rather disturbing happenings in Varisia. I believe that a war is coming and we must prepare, for when the tide of battle washes over us, it will be too late.

Thanks for volunteering Ben but I don't think you'll have to GM. Sign up for a game as a 7th and you will be the first brought into the game if another player drops out. You will get in a game we may just have to do some shuffling of players. |
