Evil Grows beneath the Earth

"Why should anyone travel the cracked cobblestones of the Old Road? The fortress that once cast its shadow across the road does so no longer - some whisper that the earth swallowed the fortress whole in an age long past. Brave adventurers resolved to discover the truth and set off down the Old Road, but they never returned."

"The Sunless Citadel" is the first in a series of eight stand-alone adventures for the Dungeons & Dragons game. This carefully crafted adventure, designed to challenge 1st-level D&D heroes, follows a path to a mysterious dungeon where evil has taken root, and a terrible tree and its dark shepherd plot in darkness.

THIS IS NOT A RECRUITMENT...YET

Not just yet, but in a month or so, I'm thinking about running this 3.0 D&D classic, just set in Golarion. Using only Core races and classes (archetypes included), and probably a 20 pt build.

Anyone interested?

So here's an idea, and not one I'm offering to run here at this point (though maybe someday...who knows?), but it's an idea that keeps knocking on a little window in my brain and I was wondering how feasible it would be.

The game would start as a prologue with everyone making a character for a Starfinder game, and then....The starship that the characters and many others were traveling on would get sucked into a black hole and crash on a planet, damaging the ship beyond all repair and killing 90% of the crew!

And THEN the real game begins, as the survivors (player characters) find themselves on a world much-like Golarion. And from that point, it's a Pathfinder game. Characters can multi-class at 2nd level into PF classes or continue in their current profession. Maybe they'll eventually find a way home, or maybe not, but dealing with adventures...maybe even an AP...as usual.

Now, here's the rub. I haven't played Starfinder yet. Ever.
So I'm not sure how compatible the classes and races would be. From what I've read through, I THINK it would work.

So, thoughts?

Marooned on a barren isle...

The island of the mighty Sea King, Viledel, was sacked by a pirate army 60 years ago.
Its destruction was so complete that even the location of the island was lost and
forgotten. Despite the stories and rumors of immense treasures still hidden in the ruined stronghold, no one ever found the Sea King's island again.

Until now.

Through a cruel twist of fate, a small band of unwilling adventurers is kidnapped and then washed ashore on a small, barren island, where they discover what remains of Viledel's settlement. But they aren't alone; marauding orcs and vile goblins have found their way to the island, too, and are frantically searching for the lost hoard.

It's a race against time and monsters in this desperate treasure hunt, where the real reward, the greatest treasure, may simply be to survive!

Treasure Hunt is going to be different from other adventures in a number of ways, the most important being that it was originally written for 0-Level AD&D.

If there's enough interest, I am planning on running this with NPC character classes (Adept, Aristocrat, Commoner, and Expert) with the goal of ending the adventure with everyone earning their first level in one of the CORE classes.

What the players choose to have their characters do and how successful they are at those tasks will help decide what classes they will be eligible to become when they've earned enough experience...regardless of which NPC class they start with.
If you already have an idea of where your character's headed, stick with what they know. However, if you want to end up as a spellcaster, and you're not an adept, then you'll have to attempt to use magic items and (possibly) even try to cast spells. Warrior type? Better get some melee or ranged combat in. Sneaking or picking locks? You scoundrel, you. You get the idea. Every character will have the chance to at least try ANY skill they wish...and we'll see how well it works out for you.

Some technical stuff:
15 pt build

Characters will keep any skills or abilities they have as NPCs when they reach 1st level as bonuses, even if they choose classes different than what they started out with.

Each NPC character will start with 1 Trait and 1 Background skill that will need to be representative of their backstory.

So, anybody interested in starting out at the bottom of the barrel? Less than first level...a lowly NPC?

Just an interest check for now...
