Male Dwarf Seeker (Rogue)
Gustav is also awed by the majesty of the tree but is more reserved in his respect. He follows Fliss around the tree analyzing his ability to climb it if required and looking for any signs of the Elderwood Moss. 1d4 ⇒ 3 Survival Total of 7
As he scans the branches however, he notices something else. "Wait! Something is off here. The tree is vibrant with life, but it does not share it with others. Look there is no wildlife... squirrels... birds... etc. We should beware. Something is not right". For some reason the dice rolls did not carry through from my "Preview". The WD was a 6 followed up by a 1. I fear the site is getting wonky again.
Male Dwarf Seeker (Rogue)
"Hmm. Interesting Trap. Let me see how it is disarmed". Gustav approaches careful to stay away from the business end of the Fox Thing and attempts to help Fliss open the trap. More from interest in the trap function than whatever this creature is... but results are similar. Gustav's head pops up at the sound behind him and nods at Angus's comment. He lurches to his feet pulling his hand crossbow as he does.
Male Dwarf Seeker (Rogue)
Gustav finally catches up to the others and leans hands on his thighs as Ezren inspects the creature. He is careful not to get too close, as undeath is still not totally resolved within him. He starts at Ezren's request. "Um... sure. Just hand it to me and I'll tie it up proper". It is obvious he doesn't really want to get too close to the thing. "Creeper? Tribe? I don't know nothing about all that".
Male Dwarf Seeker (Rogue)
Gustav stops short in his approach and draws a careful bead on one of the flying stirges, letting loose with a bolt from his hand crossbow. 1d6 ⇒ 61d6 ⇒ 6 shooting + Wild Die 1d6 ⇒ 5 explosion 2d4 ⇒ (1, 2) = 31d6 ⇒ 4 bolt Damage (+ Raise?) 11 to hit and 7 damage "What is she? Oh well. I know what those giant furry mosquitos are".
Male Dwarf Seeker (Rogue)
Gustav lags behind the others a bit, his short legs taking him longer to complete the journey... plus he by nature is a bit more cautious. "What is it? Why isn't the little girl running away"? I'm assuming that Gustav's slower pace will take him a couple of rounds longer to reach the site?
Male Dwarf Seeker (Rogue)
Gustav notices the first slender leg appear at his cuts. "Oh No! It's having babies". Then he remembers that snakes don't normally give live birth and keeps from stabbing at the emerging figure. He steps back as she emerges and grunts. "Well... so much for dinner". He then begins to clean the snake blood and guts from himself.
Male Dwarf Seeker (Rogue)
Gustav still breathing hard from the exertion of the battle notices that part of the snake isn't dead yet. "Wait there is something still moving there. Let's cut it open and see if we can grab some free dinner". He then looks around at the others. "Anybody got a knife I can borrow"?
Male Dwarf Seeker (Rogue)
"Quit trying to hide in the bushes you sneaky Bastage". Gustav boldly steps forward and thrashes at the snake with his Quarterstaff. 1d4 ⇒ 4 Fighting
so 10 to hit. Damage
So somewhere between 4 and 9 damage
Male Dwarf Seeker (Rogue)
"Angus how about you take first watch, and I'll take second? We'll let Ezren sleep and recover a bit". He then looks around the area. "Let's put our backs to this big tree and build a fire between us and the forest. Perhaps we could put up some branches and dried leaves outside the campsite so if anything comes upon us we might hear it first".
Male Dwarf Seeker (Rogue)
Gustav lets the mosquito's go without an attack. "They're just doing what they do. They aren't evil or anything. We just need to keep an eye out for more, and don't make ourselves so vulnerable". He then turns to the aged human. "Take all the time you need. I'm sure we'll need you at strength going forward. Let me carry your supplies for you".
Male Dwarf Seeker (Rogue)
"Hold still mage. Don't want to miss and hit you". Gustav tries to hit the attached mosquito with his Q-Staff. If it's dead he goes for the other one on Ezren. 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 Fighting
1d6 ⇒ 1 Wild Die 7 to hit Damage 1d6 + 1d4 ⇒ (5) + (2) = 7
Damage either 7 or 11

That's weird. When I hit "Preview" it only showed me as rolling a (1) on the exploding dice. I like (5) Much better. 1d6 ⇒ 3 Additional Damage

I agree about the RP part of gaming. I think that this develops as we play, however. I have no reason to trust or know anything about my two mates. As we play and see how the characters react and interact the Roleplaying aspect will develop organically. Very hard to do this away from the table, so giving us new reasons to bond is the fastest way to develop this interaction.

He then rubs his beard trying to recall details of his rough treasure map without actually pulling it out. "And I saw an old map that had a big red X marked on it about 20 miles north of here. That would be a possible location for the crazy witches house". "I'm not sure exactly where any of this is... but I'm pretty good at finding things".

"Hmmm. My mammy used to make Boar stew with Ironbloom Mushrooms. Knew they taste... well...Okay, but didn't know they were good for you". He then looks at Angus and Ezren with a shrug. "I had planned on asking if I could help find ingredients anyway. Guess it might be useful to have more eyes looking".

I'm just here to see if I can make a little dough helping find more ingredients... among other things. Don't need no stinking candles for warding off disease or for seeing".
Male Dwarf Seeker (Rogue)
Gustav taps his foot and looks around impatiently. He sees a couple of familiar faces... though he doesn't know them well enough to call them friends. He nods his head in greeting anyway striving to remember what name he gave them. Maybe this Laurel will be interested in hiring me to find some of these rare herbs for her teas. Get me out of this place for a while".
Male Dwarf Seeker (Rogue)
I'm having difficulty establishing why Gustav would know the others. He's not from here and trying to lay low. I may be only speaking for myself, but it seems like we're being forced to develop background for the adventure, when we really don't know our characters all that well at the moment. Since PbP is a little slow anyway, perhaps if you gave us a boost to get to the action you might get a little more activity.
Male Dwarf Seeker (Rogue)
As I mentioned in the brief background, he ran afoul of an Influential Thieves Guild in Cheliax, and is beating feet to stay far away from them as possible till things cool down. I also like the idea of the map. He won it in a dice game (Honestly/Dis-honestly?) years ago, and some of the landmarks on the map lead him to believe he might be in the area.
Male Dwarf Seeker (Rogue)
Gustav has traveled a lot in his life. He tends to wear out his welcome more often than not... usually by finding things that aren't really lost. He crossed a thief's guild in Cheliax and had to make haste. The boat he stowed away on just happened to be headed across the Inner Sea. Trying to keep a low profile he ended up in Falcon Hollow... where hopefully the temptation to find things is not too tempting. He's been here about two weeks now and is not only running low on funds, but more importantly getting bored. |
