For persistent damage (such as the bleed critical effect), if the damage is listed as a damage die (e.g. 1d6), do you roll that damage once (immediately) and apply the constant value each round, or do you roll the damage each round (so the damage taken is variable)? I had always assumed the latter, but I played with a GM that did the former. The PF2 rules explicitly state that damage dice are re-rolled every round for persistent damage, but I couldn't find such a clarification for Starfinder. Did I miss it?

The organized play guide for PF2 used to have, under the "retail incentive program", a section describing that if you displayed certain Paizo products (shirts etc.) that you would get an extra consumable item from the Pathfindeer Training section. This was removed and now says (essentially) "coming soon". So is there currently no benefit for wearing a Pathfinder shirt to a PF2 Society game? I looked in a few other parts of the online guide but was unable to find anything. Do the perks at https://paizo.com/organizedplay/perks apply to PF2 now?

Is every character untrained in every (possible) lore skill? (Excluding those lore skills they are specifically trained in, of course...)

Hello Paizo; will you be releasing any Pathfinder Second Edition shirts in the near future? My son and I both need new PF shirts and we'd prefer some new designs for 2E.

Thanks! :-)

Hi,

Will we be able to play Fall of Plaguestone with just it and the PF2 core rulebook? In other words, are all the monster stat blocks in the adventure book itself? I'm trying to determine if the Bestiary will also be required to play it.

Thanks!

Carl

Will there be a puzzle hunt at this year's PaizoCon?

Grand Lodge

The page at https://paizo.com/paizocon/events has been glitching for me for the past couple hours; I was hoping to review the event schedule tonight, before the signup starts tomorrow.

This post contains spoilers for Doomsday Dawn part 1 (The Lost Star), so don't read any further if you haven't played it yet!

OK, so we're behind on the playtest and are just starting. Reading the Lost Star I had a question about the Goblin Renegade background. Since one of the characters playing in our game will be a goblin and has picked this background, does that mean that they'll know about things like the alarm in the hallway (to the east of the fountain room) and the rock trap in the goblin HQ? Do the PCs just get a free pass on these? How are GMs handling this?

The Mystic's Healing Channel states:

You can heal yourself and your allies. You can spend 1 Resolve Point to channel this energy. Healing yourself with channeled energy is a move action, healing an ally you touch is a standard action, and healing all allies within 30 feet is a full action. This energy restores 2d8 Hit Points and increases by 2d8 at 3rd level and every 3 levels thereafter.

Does "allies" include drones? The Mystic Cure spell specifically targets "one living creature", but Healing Channel does not make this designation.

Intuitively it seems like healing channel would not heal drones, but if drones are considered allies, then RAW it seems that it would.

Does a large-sized wolf animal companion have reach? The Bestiary only has the medium Wolf, though it does have the Dire Wolf which is large and has reach. I've also found the large Winter Wolf, which has reach.

Hi,

Will part of order 5245072 be shipping today? Package 1 (the flip mats) says it will ship in 1 to 7 business days, and by my count today is day 7 (I submitted the order on June 21st). I've been waiting a long time for this (I first sent e-mail to customer service on May 28th regarding a website problem that needed to be resolved before I could place the order, which finally got resolved on June 21st) and I was hoping this would ship out today (we are planning on using the mats for a game that is starting this week). I am in Seattle, so once it ships it'll get here fast (hopefully tomorrow).

Thanks!

Hi,

I have a Visa gift card I would like to use to purchase a gift certificate; it is for exactly $20. But your site is charging sales tax for gift certificates (I assume this is due to me being a resident of Washington state). I sent an e-mail to customer service last month about this, and last week I received a response from Diego that the tech team would fix this. I was hoping to use this certificate (along with some other gift certificates I have) to place an order and (hopefully) have it delivered before my vacation -- which is next week.

I sent the original e-mail on May 28th (which seemed like plenty of time back then). I know it can take a while to resolve technical issues, but in the meantime is it possible to adjust my cart so that the gift certificate that I've added to it is not charging sales tax? It may be too late to get my order by this weekend at this point, but I'd still like to try.

Thanks,

Carl

Hi,

I sent an e-mail to customer service about a week ago and have not gotten a response. It was right after PaizoCon, so I'm sure you must have had a back-up of issues to attend to. I just wanted to check and see if this delay was expected due to current circumstances, or if my e-mail got missed/lost and I should re-send it (I didn't get an auto-response after sending). I don't mind waiting my turn if it's just a normal delay.

Thanks!

Any chance there'll be a puzzle hunt at this year's PaizoCon? We really enjoyed last year's hunt.

Hi,

Not sure if this is the right place for this question (please move if not).

For the preorder books, will the softcover have smaller ("pocket sized") pages, or will it be the same size as the hardcover?

Thanks!

Am I the only one having problems with the Pathfinder Society link? It keeps going to the store for me.

Hi,

When using the Life Science skill to identify a creature during combat, does that take an action? Using a skill is listed under "other actions", and it says that the skill will list if an action is required. I don't see anything under the skill (or on page 133) regarding using an action, so is it safe to assume that one can do the Life Science check without giving up another action? I ask because this came up during a session today and there were varying opinions.

Thanks,

Grim

Hello,

I sent customer service a note about this two weeks ago (and a follow-up last week) and have received no response, so I am posting here.

I purchased the Starfinder CRB at a local game store and my book has the binding issue. I contacted my local store and they have no problem exchanging it, but they are out of stock and are not expecting to receive any more until November. And today's posting on the blog (http://paizo.com/paizo/blog/v5748dyo5lk4w?Bound-and-Determined) confirms that. That posting says to return my book by October 27th, but that new books won't be reaching stores until the second half of November. This means I need to choose between returning my defective CRB and not playing Starfinder during the weeks waiting for a replacement copy (SFS requires one to own a copy of the CRB to play, and we also play the game at home), or keeping my defective copy so I can keep playing. I'm fine waiting for a replacement, but it seems reasonable to ask you to wait until that replacement is ready before I return my book. The fact that people who bought directly from you are getting their replacements quickly ("within 1 to 6 business days"), while those who chose to support their local store have to go without for several weeks doesn't seem right to me.

Please consider rethinking this so that people who purchased a copy from their local store can wait until the restock to return their books.

Thank you.

Hello all,

I had some questions regarding cover in Starfinder. I am confused by the description and example on pages 252-253. The description says that you "... choose a corner of your square. If any line from this corner to any corner of the target's square passes through a square or border that blocks line of effect or provides cover, or through a square occupied by a creature, the target has cover." Then it gives an example with Obozaya and say the ksarik has cover from her, and shows a line from one of her corners that runs along (but not through) a wall. Is this what is meant by passing "through" a border? If not, can someone please explain why the Ksarik has cover in this instance? Am I missing something?

Thanks!

Hi,

Looking at the disable device section, it mentions that the GM rolls the check so that the player does not know the outcome. Then it mentions that you can succeed at the check, or retry if you notice the failure. If you fail the check by more than 5, something bad happens -- you trigger a trap, or fail to notice that your attempt failed. Does this mean that if you fail the check by less than 5, this is when you notice that it didn't work? Sounds like it from how it is written, but I wanted to make sure.

In other words (assuming the task isn't one that will trigger a trap/explosion): if your roll is <= the DC - 5, the GM tells you that you think you succeeded at the task. If the roll is > the DC - 5 but < the DC, you notice you failed. If the roll is >= the DC, the GM tells you that you think you succeeded at the task.

Thanks!

Hi,

Do I need to add an animal companion's Int bonus (or lack thereof) to the base skill ranks an animal has? Or is this already reflected in the animal companion table? Most animals have an Int score of 2, and therefore would not get any skill ranks for a few levels.

Thanks!

Hi,

I'm not staying at the hotel for the con (I live in Seattle) and was wondering if anyone had any advice for parking near the convention? I called the hotel and found out that their lot is for hotel guests only. There are several airport parking garages nearby, but they all have their share of horrible reviews on Yelp. I was going to just choose the cheapest one and take a gamble, but thought I'd ask here first.

Thanks!
