Appearance:
The first thing you notices about Gram is the fiery red hair that frames a face with piercing blue eyes. While not particularly handsome he is a well muscled young man that wears practical clothing and carries a stout walking staff that shows signs of frequent use. A large pack is slung over his shoulder and he looks around impatiently seemingly frustrated by any delay. "I've been waiting my entire life to leave this town, another minute may not kill me but it sure feels like it might."

Background:
From birth it seemed destined that Gram was going to be a mage. Both of his parents were wizards and his family had magical talent of one sort or another going back many generations. Growing up it was obvious he had the talent to be a mage, but at times his disposition seemed quite un-magelike. While he was always quite good at the less subtle forms of magic, namely starting fires and blowing things up he was completely disinterested in studying, and some of the finer nuances of magic. As a child he would frequently run away from his lessons to go play adventurers and orcs with the other children. Even more frustrating to his parents was the fact that more often than not he would choose to play the part of a fighter, or orc. At times it seemed as if he took after his maternal grandfather Angus Mcintosh a famed gladiator and mercenary. In fact he would often spend hours swinging a wooden bastard sword just like the one his grandfather used to use.

Sadly his childhood was cut short. When he was just 15 a massive orcish invasion swept over the lands and as was their duty his parents went to lend magical support to the defenders. While the orcs were pushed back both of his parents were killed during the final days of the battle. At 15 he became responsible for not only himself but his younger sister. Luckily for him the town was in desperate need of able bodied men, because even though the great mass of orcs were defeated there were numerous smaller bands wandering around and the town guard was low on numbers due to the massive casualties of the war. He spent eight years as a member of the town guard using an odd mix of magic and brawn all the while taking care of his sister. Finally when she was 18 she got accepted into a prestigious magical academy in the capital and for the first time he was free to pursue his own life. Not wasting a second he jumped at the first opportunity to leave the life of a town guard.
