Well I am the wife in afore mentioned post. Thank you dear...

Let me begin by saying that my parents are basically good people in spite of their atrocious lack of openness to new things. I am the only daughter and if Jesus himself had come a-courtin' he would never have been good enough so Fizz, bless him, had no chance with them to begin with. Being from the rural South, I had heard D&D was a horrible soul stilling game long before I was ever introduced to it. Of course they said the same thing about Harry Potter till a few sobbing parents testified that their precious little ones had never read more than a Dick and Jane book before the miraculous coming of the J.K.R. books. Since basically all they are is a contest between good and evil within and without, it was dicided that perhaps the label of "wizard" or "witch" could be overlooked. I am still woefully inept at our favorite RPGs but I'm catching up with Fizz...well not really he's years ahead but I'm trying. I'm of the opinion that these games can help young adults in a lot of ways and should be encouraged rather than put down as a shameful lot. It upsets me to know that the public is so misinformed.

Sorry for the ramble...

Oh Sharoth you are lost to us :-(. GO VOLS!!!! Ok so we don't have much of a chance, but good old Rocky Top will always be home sweet home to me...even when we suck. Maybe at least it will be a good game right??? Maybe??

Well my native tongue would be English (specifically Southern drawl). That's right I'm one of those sweet Southern bells that make you think I'm giving you exactly what you want while accually getting exactly what I want from you. :-) I also happen to speak Italian fluently and French and Spanish fairly well. I'm working on German and a little Latin. Also a smattering of Norwegian and Russian but nothing I would be able to hold a conversation with lol. Interesting thread by the way.

P.S I sing opera. That's why all the languages.

Drizzt is whinny but I love the books and he kicks some major butt in battle. Harry ehh he is angsty but as has been said before he had that whole sudden fame and responsibility dropped on him as an eleven year old. I will forgive a little. Anakin Skywalker isn’t really a hero but a reverse role model (you know “power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely) and Luke really isn’t so bad, I’d have issues too.

Sooo for me it’s Frodo. What was his purpose? I don’t get it! He didn’t even finish the job and then was so scarred afterward that he had to run away from reality. I just don’t even see what should qualify him as a hero at all.

I’ve noticed when it comes time for our group to prepare spells the game will grind to a halt. We have a player, the cleric, who will scourer through every book to find the perfect most powerful spell. I don’t mind him using all the books we have, but I wish he could quickly pick them out. I have talked to him about it, but he said he needs to see all of them. I’m thinking about saying that clerics and druids to be fair get 10 spells per spell level not counting domain spells or summon nature’s ally, so 11 spells per spell level. I think this is fair and will hopefully speed up game play.

And keep the druid who uses the same handful of spells and the sorcerer who is well a sorcerer, from killing the cleric.

Thank you all. The names are now officially Asmodeous (aka Asmo) and Tosca.

Thanks all

Zola

My fiancée and I just inherited two brand new absolutely adorable kittens. They are about twelve or thirteen weeks old and presently being rambunctious and causing havoc throughout our house and reminding me that I have not cat proofed anything…oh well. I simply cannot think of a name for them. I have a weakness names from the classics e.g. a cocker-spaniel named Dante, but I’m just at a loss. Help!!! I will tell you about them. The boy is gray and white with the markings of a tabby. He is the smaller of the two but clearly the leader. The girl is a tawny color with some tabby markings and some calico. She is extremely shy but playful once she’s comfortable. They are so affectionate with each other I don’t know if I can separate them as I had originally planned. We’ll just have to be a two cat home! They both need names asap!!! Suggestions?

Thanks for the congrats!!! We are not married just yet, but the day is rapidly approaching!!! Fizz wants D&D minis on the cake... I don't think so.

Thanks for all the advice so far. I am planning to run Crown of the Kobold King with a few minor alterations. I'm sure I will have to knock Fizz back in line. :-)

Yours humbly,

I have played DnD for a couple of years (I’m Fizz’s wife for those who know who he is). I have been volunteered to DM our next game. I’m in music and on stage a lot but I’m incredibly nervous about speaking in front of our little core group. Plus I’m the newest of our group and a bit afraid I’ll make some horrendous mistake. Any advice oh wise ones of the message boards?

Yours humbly,
‘Zola

I actually shouldn’t say anything on this post since I am guilty of stealing from other languages a lot. I love the word Über! I would not use it in real life though. Ever. I also love to steal from French and Italian but since I can speak Italian well and French competently and can stumble through some German I feel a little better about using those little idioms. Again I really wouldn’t want to use those in any sort of typed or formal thing.

I’m 22 and I enjoy fashion, but not at the price of personal dignity. The tweens have always had notorious low esteem and lack of individual identity. Let’s face it, what do twelve year olds know? Not enough to really know anything and just enough to get themselves in trouble. Of course that’s where parents should step in, but since I have no kids and don’t plan on any soon (maybe ever) I can’t really comment on that. It’s unfortunate that some of these kids never grow out of that stage, leaving those of us with actual sense of fashion shaking our heads in despair watching the 30 year old teeny bopper jiggling down the street. Don’t misunderstand every age is beautiful but every person should understand how to dress his/her body. It is not nor has it ever been truly fashionable to dress in clothes that don’t fit. Also the unseen is usually much more alluring than the openly advertised.
