This is Phillip0614, posting from the alias of my submission, Gideon Derexhi. Fluff for the build is completed but I wanted to ask how you're generating HP for levels 2-4 and also if you've a preference for how much a single piece of gear is worth in that 6,000. I'm not wanting to spend all of it on a single item, of course, just wanna make sure I don't accidentally spend too much on something. I'll be able to finish the crunch once I've done gear and HP. Thank you!

Much as I hate to say it, I'm inclined to agree...Hector has been incommunicado for nearly a month now. No posts on any of his aliases. Is there anything we can do to get a game marked as inactive? Email the admins or something?

Fort Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 Well, spit. That stinks. No pun intended. The filthy mess that he fell into seems to fill all Gideon's senses with the nastiness of it. Almost immediately, he worries of being sick from the stuff, though he has only a moment to think on it before the group is attacked by goblins! He scrambles to his feet as best he can, yelling up to Basil to pull him up quickly while doing whatever he can to help Basil haul him back up to their level.

My bad! Coulda sworn I did this last night when I was updating the other PbPs. Gideon attempts to cross the beam, being as careful as he can, though he takes comfort in the knowledge that Basil has the other end of the line, should he fail. Acrobatics: 1d20 - 4 ⇒ (6) - 4 = 2 Eep! Something tells me that one of us will not be making it across safely. Anything special gonna need to happen before I roll the Perception?

Don't mind it a bit! I'm glad that the background I came up with for Gideon could serve as a source of inspiration for you. When I first pitched it to the rest of the group as a possible character choice, Devon himself said it screamed of Varisia so much that he asked to make Alleria his sister. Haha.

"Then it seems the bridge is our best option, painfully obvious as it is. If I may make a suggestion, I believe you should attempt it first, Alleria. We can tie a line to you so we can pull you back up, should it prove unstable, but you are the lightest of us and least likely to make it break."

Seeing the trouble that Sir Basil has with climbing the wall, Gideon decides to try an alternate tactic; rather than climbing with all his gear, he decides to leave his armor behind. Asking Sir Basil to watch it, he removes his breastplate and shield, leaving him significantly lighter for the attempt at climbing. "If I can make it up, it will be much easier for the two of you to follow with a rope thrown back down." he reasons before putting his hand to the wall. Climb: 1d20 ⇒ 19

Gideon's nose wrinkles in distaste and he stifles an obvious cough, the stench nearly overwhelming his sensitive sense of smell. "By my word...this is certainly quite the smell we've discovered. Heavens." he says, pinching his nostrils shut with his fingers. Seeing the ladder, he points it out to the others. "I think the best thing to do is get as far away from the source of this awful reek as possibly."

"Now gentlemen, there is no need for any violence. Surely we can settle our differences without resorting to such...unsavory tactics. We have no quarrel with you, sirs...we only ask that you do not seek to hinder us as we seek out our quarry." Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28 I will not celebrate, because the dice bot will get me back later...I will not celebrate...

Ooooooor will he? "Hmm. Well...I'm not certain how much assistance my divination could provide presently. I could certainly attempt it, but if I do not draw the right card from the Harrowing, it would prove less than beneficial to us. My present magics are better suited to protecting us from harm. A Guidance spell perhaps, but even that is only a cantrip. Yeralithi, do you have any spells that would prove beneficial? You specialize in teleportation magics, do you not?"

Gideon follows the peasant closely, his eyesight preventing him from seeing the building until it is nearly upon them. He wrinkles his nose in a clear sign of distaste for the dilapidated old structure, despite its relative structural integrity. "So...she's in here? What a quaint place to call home..."

Gideon will lend his aid to the task, assisting Basil in the task of convincing whatever person his sister grabbed that helping them find the Vancaskerkin woman was worth the effort...or the coin. Whichever proved more likely to convince, he imagined. Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23

Gideon's eyes narrow very slightly at Fenster's reaction to hearing Natalyah's name, finding something inherently suspicious about the behavior. Sense Motive: 1d20 ⇒ 8 Almost as soon as he saw that flicker, though, he dismisses it, then draws in a deep breath before replying,"What 'better payment' would you require for information about Vancaskerkin's location, Fenster?"

"Their landlord? Well that certainly is interesting. I don't suppose you'd be willing to point us in their direction, would you? We aren't interested in putting anyone out...we just want to see if they know a certain woman we are looking for that we were told had sought out the Tower Girls." Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18

Gideon does his best to hide his distaste for the dirty man who emerges from the hole to come and examine their "gift." Unfortunately he can't stop a slightly unsavory expression from coming on his face when the vagabond hunkers down on his chest and snorts back up a dribble of mucus. "Well, er...you see, Mr. Fenster...my colleagues and I are searching for a particular group of people calling themselves the Tower Girls. We seek an audience with one of their members and we were told you may be able to point us in their direction. Is there any truth to that?" Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14

"Agreed." Gideon responds. An accord being reached between he and Sir Basil, he steps forward, removing one of the small red gems from a pouch attached to his belt and dropping it into the small tin platter leaning against the broken sea chest, then stepping backwards a few paces to wait and see if this 'Fenster the Blight' character reveals himself.

"What about those red gems we found in the puzzle box? Certainly they are less useful than the dagger, in addition to their being three of them. We could try leaving one or two of those. Not useful in a utilitarian way, of course, but surely appealing from a monetary standpoint."

Gideon chuckles under his breath before offering his agreement with his sister's opinion. "Regardless, we have returned, with I should hope a significant enough loan from Lady Heidmarch to satisfy any desire Fenster might have for gold or lucre. The question then is, how much should we leave him? Surely only a few of the coins will be more money than he's seen in many a day."
Male Human Oracle 4; HP 35/35; AC 18/11/17; F+3/R+2/W+4; Init +5; Per +7
"Certainly a wild goose chase, if nothing else. Regardless, I agree that a little bit of rest is well in order. And the dagger may indeed serve as sufficient payment for our other lead...if for no reason other than it is silver, but are we certain it is wise to trade it away so soon? We received some funds from Lady Heidmarch for the purpose of accomplishing our mission; it may be a better idea to use that before getting rid of the silver dagger."

Gideon releases a slow breath at the approach of Koriah, though he's a little put out by the all-night stakeout coming to naught. "M'Lady Koriah, I am afraid we are not yet very much closer to discovering what happened to Miss Vancaskerkin. We opted to return here amid rumors of slavers operating from the docks when we were waylaid by a mage of some apparent skill...that or we were all just having a horrible night. Either way, we were bound when we regained consciousness, but managed to escape from the ropes that had tied us thanks to Yeralithi, then decided to wait and see if our assailant returned. Unfortunately, he did not. We will pick up the trail once we have returned to this 'Fenster the Blight' character."

After being untied, Gideon huffs out a breath, rubbing his freed wrists to soothe the red marks the rope had made. "I think it may perhaps be better to hide somewhere inside where we can keep an eye on this fellow when he returns. I'm all for getting a little payback for such a poor welcome, but there's no need to walk into another situation unaware of what awaits us."

Just to let y'all know, after Christmas I'm going to be out of town for an anniversary/Christmas trip with my wife and likely won't be able to post again until Saturday or Sunday. Feel free to DMPC Gideon! Y'all have a Merry Christmas! Gideon slowly awakes from his state of unconsciousness with a groan, his vision blurry. What exactly had happened to them? He wasn't sure. He tried to move his arms, only to find his hands bound behind his back. His foggy mind's immediate reaction was panic, but then his Pathfinder training kicked in and he calmed down, drawing in a deep breath and concentrating on focusing his vision; what little he had, anyway. He heard Basil speaking to his left, something about Yeralithi having a useful skill. It was then that he realized she wasn't bound, but was standing a few feet to the side of an empty chair, ropes laying on the floor at it's legs. "Whatever you just did...useful indeed. I think a bit of revenge is definitely in order."

Hooooly crap. Wow. Just to make sure, DM Hector, did you include in our saves the +2 bonus to saves vs. spells cast by evil characters/creatures? Assuming it hasn't been a full minute since Protection from Evil was cast and we came in, that is. If it has been, then nevermind.

Gideon hangs toward the back of the group, drawing in a slow, deep breath. His spells would only last one minute...he hoped he didn't waste his few castings preparing for a fight that didn't happen. Of course, if a fight did not occur, he wouldn't complain...he wanted to try and avoid conflict if he could. Maybe it would be better if he simply waited until combat broke out to use his spells until he had enough experience to make the spells last longer.

Gideon seems very curious at the sight of the man huddled in the corner, having not expected the single, thin man huddled in the corner. He looks to Alleria and Sir Basil, giving a nod to his sister's assessment. Definitely not what he expected, either. "Should we approach him? He doesn't seem like someone terribly dangerous to me."

Been forgetting to roll for my Harrowed feat. Gonna do that now. Before Basil gives the word, Gideon quickly fishes out of his pack his Harrow deck, realizing that he hasn't drawn a card for his fortune yet that day. He draws a deep breath, focusing his energy and his will into the deck of cards in his hand. Then, slowly, he draws a card. 1d6 ⇒ 6 A crown revealed, Gideon breathes a slow sigh. It may help them talk their way through whatever was waiting behind that door without having to resort to a fight. Still...his spells couldn't hurt in case they couldn't find success with more passive forms of diplomacy.
