Male Human Ranger/4

"Darius told me the man wouldn't give anything up, even when under interrogation. He put the man to hard labor in one of his mines I believe. Won't be bothering no one else out there on the road, I assure you that." he laughs.

"Orcs?" he snaps his head to attention. "At Hogs Branch?"

Garyld then takes out a piece of scrap paper and begins to scribble something on it "Go on, I am listening. Give me any details you may have about them."

He continues to take notes as you recount the details of the story to him.

"Organized? That could be dangerous. Silver weapons? That is sure unusual." he says.

He then lets out a ear piercing whistle and soon a bright eyed crow lands on his shoulder.

He then finishes his writing and folds the paper into a tiny scroll and tells the bird, “Take this to Shiraz.” Taking the paper in its beak, the crow flies off to the southeast.

After the bird is out of sight Garyld returns his attention to the group "Given what you have told me I would say that Oleanne is probably attempting to track down the source of the orcs as we speak. Shiraz is a fellow ranger, more mobile than myself" (this with a rueful glance at his bad leg), "who is especially friendly with the birds in the region. If Jelenneth is anywhere in the western part of Haranshire, Shiraz will probably be able to get some news of her." He says.

Then looking at everyone else "I promise to let you all know anything that I find out and all I ask is that you also pass along any news or clues that might be important."

Then he turns his attention to the inn "I guess you all should let Andren know the bad news, just assure him the search is not over and that we all will continue looking."

After the bird is out of sight Garyld returns his attention to the group and to Jelly's question "Given what you have told me I would say that the Oleanne is probably attempting that very thing as we speak. If Jelenneth is anywhere in the western part of Haranshire, Shiraz will probably be able to get some news of her." He says.

"Oh and a magical enchanted shield." Garyld says as he continues to note what you are telling him. Once he is handed the brooch he says "I don't recognize it. Looks expensive. Wonder where the orcs got this?"

He then finishes his writing and folds the paper into a tiny scroll and tells the bird, “Take this to Shiraz.” Taking the paper in its beak, the crow flies off to the southeast.

Garylyd looks at Erdann "Use to be an adventurer just like you. Back in the day that is, until my leg got all busted up. Even with magical healing I now suffer from arthritis in the joints of my legs and hands. I guess when your in your fifties it takes a toll on you. The life you chose, I mean."

Then turning back to Alexander as he begins telling more of the story. "Organized? That could be dangerous. Silver weapons? That is sure unusual." looking over the shield that Alexander pointed to. "That is a plain looking shield. What is this pattern you speak of? And do you have this brooch I may see?" he says as he continues writing.

He then lets out a ear piercing whistle and soon a bright eyed crow lands on his shoulder.

Garyld begins unhooking the bandit leader from the cart and securing him for transport.

"I am going to take him up to the Mansion House and turn him over to Mr. Carman's men to answer questions for his crimes. I will meet all of you back here at the Baron and Mutton as soon as I am done." he says as he points to the inn.

"The Baron and Mutton has plenty of accommodations available, both if you want to 'rough it' or if you want to 'live well'. Personally I would take the later."

As he turns to walk toward the mansion with the bandit leader in tow he pauses again and turns back "Oh and don't let old Dirkaster give you any trouble either."

Erdann, sitting on the cart, responds, "We were kinda busy trying not to be eaten ourselves. Not to mention, we got paid to make a delivery, not to perform funeral rites for brigands. Slavers on the road pose as much a danger as animals, except the animals will leave once the bones are picked clean."

"I will have to assemble a few locals to retrieve the bodies from the road, how far down the road did you say they were? And are you making a delivery to someone here in Milborne?" the constable says inquisitively.

Wolfgang von Goethe wrote:

"I am Wolfgang Von Goethe, philosopher and student of the arcane. The caravan, as you call it--though we are more than one and we haul a cargo not ours, so the name is apt as any--was approached by a brace of farmers who called out a warning simultaneous with a flight of arrows arcing to us from the treeline.

Other bandits emerged from hiding all about us and the friendly-seeming farmers drew weapons and advanced on our front. Our priest was wounded sorely, and our sole beast slain, but we took a ruinous vengeance upon them, and captured their ringleader alive.

In return for his good health he played the part of the mule his kind had slain, and he now waits upon your charge still lashed to the cart.

Of note, they were quite careful about taking us alive, so I would call them slavers. If any of your townfolk have gone missing, that would be a point of interest to ask of him. Though, alas, no craft possessed by us has loosened his tongue a whit. Still, if you will come with me and bring chains, I'll take you too him and exchange our bonds for yours."

"I will be glad to take charge of him. I can turn him over to the local magistrate and see that justice is done. They didn't manage to kill any of you so that probably will spare his life, but I suspect a few years working in the mines might make him have a change of heart." he says as he grabs a pair of manacles from inside his office and follows you over to where the cart is parked outside the inn.

As you reach the spot where the cart is parked "Where are the bodies? Of these others you speak of? This one I don't recognize from around these parts. Was wondering about the others. You didn't leave them out there in the road did you? They will certainly attract wild animals which may endanger someone else."

Not wanting to unhitch the bandit, Wolfgang goes to the carpenter's shop. Upon entering he calls out, "Good eventide. I and my companions are newly come to your fair town, and we were waylaid on the road. We captured one of our assailants and would discharge him to your care. Take care, though. He is strong and crafty, and seems quite interested in the taking of persons alive, though for what reason no craft divisible by men or powers was able to discern."

As Wolfgang approaches the carpenter's shop he spies an older gentleman around fifty who appears by his movements to be badly lame on one leg with a black mop of hair and a lean tall frame. He has two huge retriever-like hunting hounds who accompany him. The man wears leather armor and looks to have a sword on his side and a shield along with a bow and quiver strung across his back. The fletching's on the arrows are bright red which stand out as very unusual.

As Wolfgang approaches and states his claim the older gentleman responds "Good day to you my esteemed stranger. Weilaid on the road you say?" Garyld scans the area from which Wolfgang approached from. "You mean you are from that small group with the cart parked at the inn? Not much of a caravan is it? Can't say we get many 'caravans' round these parts so I guess your group could qualify." he says curiously.

"Had some trouble out on the road did you? Well I don't know if it matters much but I am the constable of this fine town. If you have a prisoner then I will take possession of him. But first I am going to need to know a little bit more of what exactly happened out there on the road." he says as one eyebrow arches up.

"Don't be alarmed by the locals. They are friendly enough. They just don't see many strangers out here in these parts. Kinda isolated if you know what I mean. Especially when the strangers are an entire group of armored adventuring types. By the way what did you say your name was again."

Male Human Ranger/4

"Well I will definitely have to try and round up a group of men to go and retrieve the others as soon as possible. Dead bodies tend to throw the balance of nature out of whack when left ... unattended."

"About how far down the road are they?"

He continues to make sure the mans bonds are secure as he points to the big stone mansion house up on the hill that is surrounded by a stone wall.

"I am going to take him up to the Mansion House and turn him over to Mr. Carman's men to answer questions for his crimes. I will meet all of you back at the Baron and Mutton as soon as I am done." he says as he points over to the inn.

As others begin to move into town Garyld responds to Dorin's statement about the tavern "Yeah their does seem to be something afoot at The Baron of Mutton. Probably another customer complaining about the hard bunks or a knuckle-fight. Why they summoned the miller, that does concern me but we do have more pressing matters at hand." he walks over and looks over the captive while Grommund recounts the story of what happened on the road.

"I will be glad to take charge of him. I can turn him over to the local magistrate and see that justice is done. They didn't manage to kill any of you so that probably will spare his life, but I suspect a few years working in the mines might make him have a change of heart." he says as he eases the man out of the cart.

"Where are the bodies? Of these others you speak of? This one I don't recognize from around these parts. Was wondering about the others. You didn't leave them out there in the road did you? They will certainly attract wild animals which may endanger someone else."

Male Human Ranger/4

As Grommund breaks from the group and heads into the town proper and toward the man at the carpenter's shop he is greeted warmly by the man before him.

"Good day to you my esteemed dwarven stranger. A caravan you say?" Garyld scans the area from which Grommund approached from. "You mean that small group with the cart on the edge of town? Not much of a caravan is it? Can't say we get many 'caravans' round these parts so I guess your group could qualify." he says curiously.

"Had some trouble out on the road did you? Well I don't know if it matters much but I am the constable of this fine town. If you have a prisoner then bring him and I will take possession of him. But first I am going to need to know a little bit more of what exactly happened out there on the road." he says as one eyebrow arches up.

He then waves at the impromptu 'caravan' to come forward into the town and toward him. Other townsfolk that are scattered around the area begin pointing and whispering under their breath. Children are ushered into nearby shops and homes.

"Don't be alarmed by the locals. They are friendly enough. They just don't see many strangers out here in these parts. Kinda isolated if you know what I mean. Especially when the strangers are an entire group of armored adventuring types. By the way what did you say your name was again."

Male Human Ranger/4

Finishing his study of the wall carvings and stonework Holbrecht hears the all clear sound. He moves up to the next set of doors and prepares to open them. "Everyone better get to where they are going to be standing when I open these here doors." then looking down at Kachu "You might want to take a few steps back little one." then looking back at Nulyth "Might want to be up here in case something on the other side of this here door wants to take a bite out of me."
Moves to A2 and prepares to open doors."

Holbrecht will move to the northern most Bas-Relief after being given the all clear and begin studying the architecture of the chariots and the overall design of the stonework. Time.... sands... minutes... seconds....hours..days... must take action. Idle people... bad smell.... must keep moving.
Herbrecht steps over the body glancing down to look for cause of death.
He looks up at Alexander "He's either a male human or half-elf, both legs broken." looking up. "He fell from up there and then crawled to these doors and expired." he then turns his attention to the group "You might want to drag that body out the way."

Holbrecht then grabs the door handle and throws his shoulder against it. Swinging the doors open wide. "Here goes nothing."
