I will wait for the errata updated pdfs then. I don't find it attractive to be offered a product that is supposed to be a fix and an upgrade of an existing one, but that itself comes out with a slew of new and important errors on day one...
Then you are going to wait forever, because there is always stuff to be fixed.
At a minimum Chromatic and Metallic dragons are out, as they are too tied to D&D. If memory serves, Primal and Imperial dragons are 100% Paizo inventions, not sure about the other two categories.
Most likely these will be 4 mostly new dragons. We already know a few of them: Adamantine, Diabolocal, Mirage have been shown in prior disclosures.
So there will be some completely replacements for some monsters then. Interesting.
Yes. We've known this for months. D&D (OGL) classics like Otyugh and Owlbear will be replaced with new monsters unique to Pathfinder. Doesn't mean you can't use the good old owlbear from the Beastiary 1, but it is not going to be used in the future in Paizo products.
Prefer 3 parters. People already voted with their money anyways: 3 parters are selling better so this is a way to go for Paizo.
I presume you have sales numbers to back up that claim? :)
I am paraphrasing James Jacobs. He publicly stated it in these forums not very long time ago. No reason to not believe him. Also money was and is the greatest argument for most businesses anyway. Even without James' statement, one can reach a conclusion that the shift from 6 to 3 parters is just more economically viable for Paizo.
I checked a bookstore site and Highhelm is listed as only 136 pages in length. I was hoping for more content and really expand on this area of the world, but it seems way too short to be an in-depth look.
136 pages about one city is too short? Interesting perspective.
(...) a new player who wants to have the bare minimum needed to play the game (...)
I don't get these takes, like totally. A new player who want to have a bare minimum needed to play the game can get all of the game for free online, legally. And if a new player wants to have a bare minimum needed to play the game in physical form, they can get the Beginner's Box and doesn't need to buy any number of thick rulebooks.
Worth mentioning is also that while there is a slight price increase of the 4 combined books, it is nowhere near how much stuff is now more expensive than it was 3-4 years ago. Paizo could have easily justified doing 80$ per book, yet they elected to sell them rather cheap, considering how massive the books are and how they are probably selling them close to the production cost. Like, this is the opposite of greed.
For those also wondering, yes, that's Runelord Xanderghul on the mirage dragon for the GM Core. We've put a runelord and their dragon buddy on the previous two GM books, after all.
What are you guys going to do for the GM books of Pathfinder 7th and later edition?
The only diety (tho also a pretty weak one) we have stats for is Treeraze (lvl 25 demon lord), I believe.
If we have stats for him he ain't a deity. Nor was he ever one.
Milani hasn't gotten a 2E writeup yet, so that seems pretty obvious. Neither has Chaldira. Cayden and Desna probably get their existing writeups expanded. Everybody else relevant has hitherto been an Empyreal Lord as far as I can tell.
Let me introduce you to Treerazer's diety statblock then: https://2e.aonprd.com/Deities.aspx?ID=26. Mechanically, he is a diety. You can literally be a cleric or a champion of Treerazer.
Just wanted to drop in and say thanks for the kind words, folks! I was really excited to get to write an adventure focusing on several of my personal favorite aspects of the setting. (As soon as I finished writing, I turned around and started a Gatewalkers campaign with my home group, and we've been having a blast!) Huge props to Patrick Renie and James Jacobs for masterminding such a fun project!
Hi James, are you running with a 4 person or 5-6 person party?
I'm new to PF2e and everything official I read is that APs are for 4 PCs but players and GMs I talk to say they end up running with 5-6 players cause the APs are too hard. Then they complain the APs are too easy.
How is your group finding the difficulty?
Some of the first APs for 2e were too difficult at times (Age of Ashes, Agents of Edgewatch), but from Abomination Vaults onwards the balance is spot on. Since APs are indeed designed for 4 players, try using the encounter building rules to balance them for more players (because encounter budget increases with each additional player).
I think that Paizo's resources are now mostly focused on the OGL situation, and some things will land on the back burner for a while, including previews.
I am not sure why would Marketing team be involved with the OGL and not only leadership + legal team, but okay.
So what are the chances of seeing Versatile Heritages for Wood and Metal? They should have their on equivalent to Ifrits, Oreads, Sylphs, and Undines right?
There is a 5-page piece on Narakaas, which includes new domain: introspection domain.
There are 3 pages of new necromancy spells (for students of the Ebon Mausoleum or worshippers of Urgathoa), most are mid level (4-6), but there are 2 new cantrips.
There are 4 new Boneyard-themed artifacts, all at least lvl 20.
New creatures: Intellect Assemblage (19), Drowned Mummy (17), Shoki Psychopomp (9), Eseneth Psychopomp (17), Shabti Slayer (16), Shabty Votary (18), Shadow Worm (20) and Soul Slime (18)
