Not the usual elements that would interest me in a book here: jungle setting, etc. but I'd encourage similarly cautiously-minded folk to give this one a go, as I was surprised how much I enjoyed this novel. I think the web fiction, 'The Gem', is well worth reading before the novel too, as it adds significantly to understanding the main characters' interactions. Bravo Mr Kloster, and I hope to see your name again in the Pathfinder Tales line.
These really are a very special offering from Paizo: all thoroughly enjoyable. This one has a particularly fine cast of actors expanded to take on a larger (literally) set of characters. Like its predecessors, but more so, it cleverly picks a way through the AP plot highlighting many of the key moments but adding drama and connecting stories to tie it together to make a story.
We are at episode 4 so am hoping that very soon we'll see what comes next after Rise of the Runelords. Can't wait: encore!
Lovely little mod - easily worth 5 stars and the price helps. What I wanted to add to the commentary was the usefulness of this mod as a side trek within the Carrion Crown AP. I'd place it somewhere on the PCs' journey from Ravengro to Lepidstadt. Maybe Esteri (p 9) is a friend of Kendra Lorrimor? Maybe Dunstan appears later in Caliphas? Hope no spoilers there but DMs of this and CC will understand.
Also it would act as a convenient preparation for later events.
It would also be useful were Raging Swan to adopt a subscription model for its adventure line.
