Always around. Please message me if you start anything up in the future. Loved what we got into. The apology is kind but unnecessary - good luck with the new project at work.

I had a great time.

Fain is all cleaned up - and I've written another letter in his description section. I think I'll do one a level with suggestions that other letters were written in between.

I have to clean up Fain's equipment a bit - I like the idea of adding the difference between 2nd and third. Just a bit of tidying. Otherwise, Fain's ready to go.

also, with permission from the GM, I've dropped Skald as a language and took artistry - illustration. One person speaking Skald with Thrym is funny - two is, well ... not.

Oh shoot! Fain reluctantly hands the monkey belt over to the society.

I've leveled Fain. He is getting loaded up with conditional bonuses:
Favoured terrain - woodlands +2 (this means his survival is +7, his tracking is +8, his woodland tracking is +11, and his woodland animal tracking is +13)
bonus feat - endurance
new feat - blundering defence (adjacent allies get 1/2 his dodge bonus when he uses 'fight defensively' (+2) or 'total defence' (+3) to their AC and CMD.

I'll will probably be taking the 3000gp in stuff.

Fain woke from an excellent sleep and, having remembered no dreams, was quick to get ready for the day. He wanted to get back to the lodge and do some re-writing in his journal. Perhaps his animal observations and sketches could be bound into an attractive binding. Maybe it could amount to something. Something more than a work of personal importance.

He tied together his sac-a-dos and managed a weak coffee. There would be no other breakfast beyond leftover berries. His pot was quite ruined from yesterday. But he was content. He loved sleeping out of doors in the woods outside of Ilsurian and it was very much the same here. All of his friends were well and the trip was, by all accounts, successful. He drank and watched the others cherishing their individual quirks.

When it was time, he gathered his things (intentionally forgetting his Skald dictionary - he was giving up on the language that he seemed not to have the talent for) and merrily watched the path back to the lodge.
He was eager to see the elephant again and hoped, if it wasn't an imposition, he might get a chance to work with the old but wondrous creature. It was quite funny, but, he made very little noise otherwise. Every step he took neared them to the boat and the boat put him closer to being just a gardener again.

Fain went over to one of the statues and took a look. He felt awkward, like he was supposed to do something, so he bowed back at one of the statues, then felt awkward for doing so. "Better take these with us."
You say 'tiny' bows - shortbow or long to a halfling?

That was my main purpose with the survival foraging attempt - to find water to help clean the statue.

Fain dumped out the find of small melons and berries he retrieved and went back out with his pot to collect water. He returned and started cleaning the main reliquary statue. He was primarily a woodsman but much of what he knew he thought he could transfer, "Well, I'm ok a'not gettin lost and I can find my way home whens needed. "Friend Fain? Any advice on where to aim at the large cat?"

Fain closed one eye, "Well ifn your a good shot I'd say go fer the heart, low, in the front of the body. It'd be just higher but behind the bend in the front leg ... is elbow, if you get my meaning. Ifn yer an ok shot I'd try to pick the smallest detail in the centre of the body - aim small to miss small, as they say. Don't aim fer the head - ist just a big bone."

"Ifn yer not at least an ok shot then ya shouldn't shoot. It'll only lead to the animal's pain an' no great creature should be killed by a bad hunter ... it makes ghosts. Well, that's what my Fater used to say."

"It's a big cat - don't they all know how to climb?" Thrym grunted, gladly accepting the paladin's assistance. "And up there will be safe up to the moment we need to get back down - I suggest you let me be the first one on the ladder when that time comes, for you'd much rather not have me slip and fall down on any of you," the shaman predicted glumly. Even without the armor, he wasn't much of a climber but with its weight added to his troubles....

"I heard they don't like ta climb, tigers that is, but they're pretty good at it. They're also pretty patient an' don't mind waiting out anyone who's fergot their arrows, or run out."

Sorry, I was absent for a bit there - I'm back
Fain waved at Falroun as the group split Makes sense, someone should be preparing for the second half of this expedition - somehow, I don't think the ruins will be simple to negotiate He then went to work burning some cloth up - anything that was too soaked in blood from the cobra attack. He went about to anyone who still had wounds, "if'n you don't mind - lets redress those wounds and get ya good and cleaned up. Don't want ya' smelling too fresh now."
As they continued on to the new ground he tied his armour to a rope and dragged it behind him for a bit and made sure to muddy his shirt and trousers as well - another attempt to cut his sent. <Halfling "Nothing wrong with good clean earth, my Fater always said.">

Not until we have eyes on the beast! Now let's get to setting up!"

Fain scuttled up the first tree with a rope for the next person and listened carefully to all of the Baron's advice as the old man was proving to be a good teacher. Although Fain had set up birder's blinds before they had always been a bit clumsy and of his own making - these were not that. Once the first was finished he went on to help with others. Without realizing it, being away from any large settlement was giving him a lot of energy.

"Too many cuts I think. We could piece something together but it wouldn't be best work. But that snake alone can feed several people for days." Fain said, looking like he'd never been bit.

Fain pulled out his medical kit and started cleaning the wound. He used something labeled astringent to draw out as much poison, removed some masticated tissue, and dressed the two holes.

woot! That should be good for 3hp

"Well, that proves it!", Fain patted Vard on the shoulder and smiled with a wince of pain - he grabs his left ribs, "King cobras prefer Halbmench ta' human."
He takes off his studded breast plate and takes a look at the two small, but deep, punctures oozing yellow venom.
"I swears I can taste i' in the back of my throat ... but I feel ok, saving for the punctures. Vard? It seemed ta go a little deeper with you ... but you already look a little better!"
My save was successful but I'm down 10hp

Seeing the great snake didn't follow him and instead attacked his poor friend Vard, Fain rushed the snake once more.

sorry, any result from my earlier knowledge check ... this is a giant snake, yes?
Fain's eye went wide as the snake reared up. He bobbed left and then right but as fast as he could move the snake still got a meaty hold of him. He could feel two knives slip between his ribs. His mouth went numb and frothed as it was filled with bitter -

Fain starts fighting defensively +4 to ac/-4to hit; Is the snake still latched on? Assuming it isn't...
kukri: 1d20 + 3 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 2 - 4 = 3
Fain stumbled backwards trying to look like he was at deaths door, easy pray, as he swiped out haphazardly. maybe this monster will follow me and Thrym and Vard can get a clear swipe at it? Keeping his eyes on it's eyes he yelled out, "<bait, oh geeze, Thrym won't understand>" in halfling. He scrunched his nose up and yelled what he thought was the same word in skald, "Um, aaa, MATO!"
Can I bluff the snake? Bluff animals +5; I'd like to get it to move through Thrym and Vard's threatened space so they can get attacks plus AoOs. Regardless, Fain will move back as fast as he can. If he must use acrobatics to get out of it's threatened space, he will.

Thrym? What are you using for Skald? You mentioned it in the last session but I'm afraid I can't remember ... Finnish? Oh well, my ignorance shall be Fain's ignorance.
