Background:
Within the last generation, a small tribe of Undine began to settle in the Weiter Down Islands. On these islands, an undine was born to the Heitoka family. They named him Faagaki. He was brought up learning about his Marid ancestor, Rabana, and the ancestors in between, including the use of the family weapon, the chakram. When Faagaki got to the age of 20, the age of responsibility in the settlement, Faagaki became apprenticed to the local blacksmith. He mostly helped with the armor and began to learn his way around. But fate had a different idea for Faagaki. Only 10 years after he began his apprenticeship, a new family came to the islands. They were human, looking for a place of peace. They had heard of a settlement here, and spent all they had traveling because it was said to be safe there. Soon after, more families came. All with the same type of stories. Many with additional stories of loss. They came one or two families a year, from different backgrounds and groups, but the result was the same. The settlement had grown too large for a chief to govern on his own. A council was set up, with the religious leaders being the magistrates. There was a large need for young religious apprentices, and Faagaki, now 45 had shown great wisdom for his age, so his apprenticeship was moved.

The magistrates were charged with making peace and settling disputes, ultimately turning the island into a home. Unity was the most important thing to these religious leaders. It was the only way their tribe had made it through the times after the fall. But as the village grew and word spread, outside tribes became more covetous. On Faagaki’s 60th birthday, the village was attacked for the first time since moving to the islands. The invaders, who were not yet used to the water were driven back easily, thought the Suka--a single undine given extraordinary ability to defend the island--died. Faagaki was chosen as the new Suka, and given greater ability through a sacred ritual followed by years of training. This training, interlaced with his training as a priest, filled the years after the attack. Eight years went by, and not another attack occurred. But recently the invaders returned, and it was obvious they had not spent their eight years idly. They were much more sure on the water this time, and were able to raid and destroy much of the village. Faagaki was one of the few to survive. Only eight others, including three children, were alive. One was the high priest of the village, Nemiranu. He charged Faagaki with getting the others to safety. As for Nemiranu, he was too old to make the journey, and no amount of argument from Faagaki would persuade him otherwise. Faagaki gathered the remaining resources of the island, and was given several potions from the high priest. They left that day in tears.

Faagaki brought these people, Reese, a human who replaced Faagaki as the blacksmiths apprentice, Heruki, a Tengu who had worked making boats and his youngest daughter Theruda, Rhond, a mysterious young elf who had only just come to the island a week gone, two now parentless twin Vanaran children, Dav and Grod, and Holt the gnomish craftsman, who can make almost anything. Holt adopted the twins almost immediately. As they journeyed though, they were attacked on all sides. They managed to get away from most, but lost Theruda in one attack by wild dogs, and another night Rhond disappeared in the middle of the night. When Faagaki got the people to the nearest town, near the mithril mountains, he left them with what he could. But more importantly, with a promise. He promised that he would find them a place of safety. And when he found it, he would find a way to get them there.

Personality:
Faagaki is noble at heart. He wants to protect those who can’t protect themselves. He finds that that is most often done through careful and wise application of the law, but also, it needs good people. Faagaki does not like to fight, but will for a good cause. What is most important to him is a community of people. Not all communities are equal though. The best communities are so tight knit that all within the community call it home.

Faagaki also has had a great connection with the water. Even more so than many of his kind. He spent much of his free time swimming as a youth and continues to do so when he has the chance.

Personal Code:
1. Communities must be protected. This means:
a. Be honest in all dealings.
b. Be friendly to all.
c. Obey local laws and customs (unless evil [evil being defined as depreciating to life within the community]. He has not come up against these yet, but if he ever does, he will not consider them true laws, because laws protect those in the community.)
2. Protect innocent life.
3. Promote unity in groups.

Appearance
You see before you a thin man. His blue skin, marked with spots to make it look as if he were covered in scales, shows through the low neck in his sleeveless shirt as well as below his short pants. His bare feet look well used, but are strangely clean. His long blue hair is tied together at the neck then again part way down. He smiles in greeting and waves reaching forward to introduce himself.
