![]() "And just as important, she won't be talking for a bit. I'm sure you're aware of this, Grandmaster, but I'd keep her tied and gagged when you're with her, unless you absolutely need her to talk to answer questions. She's got a silver tongue, had Amiri and Cairo at each other's throats in an instant. But I'm sure you'll take the necessary safeguards." Ezren looks around and smiles at his companions, then says, "I'm not known for effusive praise or great boasts, Grandmaster Torch, but we did well tonight. Clockwork guards, a series of magical traps, and the spider in her nest - and brought her in alive, which I wasn't sure was going to happen." ![]()

![]() "I can transport Ouidda, myself and one other person out of here through a dimensional door. Since Cairo managed to enter the front door by showing his gold to the gendarmes at the door, it shouldn't be at all suspicious if he's seen inside. Given how easy it was for us to make our way downstairs and into the basement, I'd think Cairo and one other person could just walk out of here." Looking down at the unconscious Ouidda, an idea comes to Ezren. "I'll take her and either Amiri or Aerynne with me, and transport us to the alleyway behind the building where we climbed in the window. It was very quiet there, should be no problem. And we'll just pretend that Ouidda is passed out drunk and we need to get her home. Nobody should bother two women and an old man stumbling down the street." "What do you think? I've still got a potion of flight, so the two who stay should have no problem getting past that rug trap and out of here " ![]()

Seeing his friends lower their weapons, looks of wonder and confusion on their faces as they try to figure out why they're fighting each other, Ezren calls out, "Amiri, grab her before she recovers her hearing! ![]() Ezren moves quickly between Aerynne and the doorway, then turns to face Ouidda. He angles his head slightly towards the wall, so as to avoid killing poor, confused, blind Amiri, and releases a harsh, ear-splitting cry. Move to T10, cast shout (DC 21), aiming the cone along the wall so it fills row 10 on the map but otherwise just hits the wall. In other words, so I don't make Amiri deaf as well as blind. Shout damage: 5d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 5, 6, 4) = 23 DC 21 Fort save for half damage, if she fails the save she's deaf for 2d6 rounds, which gives her a 20% spell failure chance for spells with a verbal component. You probably know all this, just trying to make it easy. ![]()

![]() Amiri the Giantslayer wrote: Why don't you just step back and let me swing blindly since I cannot follow you Cairo? That's a good idea. I sure do want to know if I made that Will save. It occurred to me that even if I made it and I take Ouidda out with the shout spell, that we'll still have a few more rounds of confusion active. My thought was to drop a potion of levitate for Amiri and dimension door Ezren, Aerynne and Cairo out of there. Then we'll at least have the confused folks separated and not killing each other, and Amiri can make her way out when she's no longer confused and blind. We'll still have to come back to grab what's left of Ouidda, but we'll figure that out. ![]()

![]() I can't think what Ezren can do to end the confusion. I've used all my dispel magics. Here are some random thoughts about it: I could try to charm one of them, but that wouldn't affect the confusion - and they're already my allies. I could throw a tanglefoot bag at one of them. I could move south a little and cast shout at Ouidda, hoping it takes her out. By my count she's taken up to 42 hp, so 5d6 could take her out if I roll well. I could try again to charm Ouidda, and if it works could ask her to dispel the confusion. I could dimension door Ezren and Aerynne out of here... But first I have to make a Will save. ![]()

![]() Ezren casts a glance at each of his fellow pathfinders, then says, "Well, a couple of you would be well suited to just kill our quarry outright, if that's what we wanted. Bit of a pity it's not, eh? In any case, Cairo, aside from whacking Ouidda with your scimitar and then healing her, do you have any particular abilities that would be useful in capturing her?" Without waiting for an answer, Ezren continues in his curmudgeonly fashion, "I'm also a bit better suited to lighting her on fire or otherwise ending her life, but I'll prepare a spell that may be able to charm her into being my friend - though she's likely to resist its effects. If it works, though, it will certain make bringing her in a good deal easier." Looking again at each of them, he says, "So, what do you bring to the table?" Switching memorized spells, adding charm person, removing burning hands. ![]()

![]() Ezren listens to the Grandmaster's speech with a skeptical look clear on his face. As his companions pepper Torch and Karela with questions, the look approaches one of outright scorn. "With all due respect, what makes you think she doesn't know we're having this conversation right now? She knows the Society's deepest secrets, things I could only guess at. We've found her bolt-hole - who can say what she's found about us?" Shaking his head as if in disgust, he continues, "Still, if we've got a chance to capture her, I suppose we have to take it. Society work is all about taking those risks, to advance to our goals, eh? So, as the others have said, what can you tell us about her security? Magical protections? Do your sources say when she's there, or is she there all the time?" ![]()
![]() I will do just that, Feral. Any suggestions for getting a level 7 iconic pregen into Hero Lab? I found downloads for levels 1 and 4, and can build up from 4, but it's a bit of complicated guesswork. I think I'll just copy and paste the pdf text into an alias, but I thought I'd ask. Edit: Never mind, the pdf approach worked fine. |
