About Obard Falconsflight

Background: Obard was born on the road in Varisia, of that he has learned. But was soon alone in the world, when bandits destroyed the caravan with which his family was traveling. Luckily for him, some gypsies were traveling through the area and found him. They took him to the nearest town, Kassen, and gave him to the local orphanage. Obard grew up with all the other kids, but was always left out or picked on because of his size and stature. He could never win the fights, but he soon learned how to recognize when a fight was about to start. Allowing him a quick escape before his attacker could even throw the first punch.
Obard desired nothing more than to prove himself. To be recognized as a local and no longer an outsider. Obard went to work, helping where ever he could. He soon found a job at the local tavern working with Jimes Iggins. It was here that he began to learn about the benefits of listening to conversations around a mug of ale, and the valor of being able to pick a pocket or two. Jimes was a good teacher, although it seemed everyone knew it was him. Obard would also be hired on occasion as a messenger, delivering messages back and forth for the town council and others who did not wish to get their feet dirty.
Obard's single obsession was to be chosen as one of the children who got to go and retrieve the eternal flame. Obard trained hard to be able to join the ranks of those who were chosen. He knew it would be difficult, especially because he was not originally from Kassen. But it would be worth it if he could just prove that he was worthy. To this end, Obard has been graciously giving his time and sweat in helping Mayor Uptal with his recent campaign for re-election. Obard has been delivering pamphlets and orders for Mayor Uptal as often as possible, praying that the mayor remembers him when it comes time to choose who goes to seek the eternal flame.

  • SPECIAL ABILITIES:

    Sneak Attack
If a rogue can catch an opponent when he is unable to defend himself effectively from her attack, she can strike a vital spot for extra damage.
The rogue's attack deals extra damage anytime her target would be denied a Dexterity bonus to AC (whether the target actually has a Dexterity bonus or not), or when the rogue flanks her target. This extra damage is 1d6 at 1st level, and increases by 1d6 every two rogue levels thereafter. Should the rogue score a critical hit with a sneak attack, this extra damage is not multiplied. Ranged attacks can count as sneak attacks only if the target is within 30 feet.
With a weapon that deals nonlethal damage (like a sap, whip, or an unarmed strike), a rogue can make a sneak attack that deals nonlethal damage instead of lethal damage. She cannot use a weapon that deals lethal damage to deal nonlethal damage in a sneak attack, not even with the usual –4 penalty.
The rogue must be able to see the target well enough to pick out a vital spot and must be able to reach such a spot. A rogue cannot sneak attack while striking a creature with concealment.
    Trapfinding
A rogue adds 1/2 her level to Perception skill checks made to locate traps and to Disable Device skill checks (minimum +1). A rogue can use Disable Device to disarm magic traps.
