I was just going to attack any goblins I saw in the room with my standard. Since I didn't see anything in there, and I already used a five foot step, I would've just used it for total defense.

Seeing nothing in the room, Ellowin prepares for something to jump out of the dark. What she doesn't prepare for is the arrow hitting her from behind. Cursing to herself, she turns around and takes a knee, firing an arrow at the new threat behind her.

Move to kneel (+2 AC to ranged, -2 AC to melee), standard to shoot at the goblin.

Bow attack on goblin at K9: 1d20 + 4 + 2 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 4 + 2 + 1 + 1 = 26

I should be two squares to the right. If I'm reading it right, I'm at K12 now, and I wanted to be at K14. If I'm reading it wrong, that's my fault!

Ellowin takes a step towards the unopened door, bow ready, and then opens the door, waiting to see what's inside.

5' move towards the door at K15-K16, move action to open it, and holding my standard action until I know what's in there.

Noticing the room becoming awfully crowded, and making for a horrible shot with a bow from behind everyone, Ellowin moves outside onto the walkways, expecting trouble.

Moving to K14, towards that door over there that we didn't open yet. Readying an action to shoot anything that's a goblin that comes through the door. I'm not really expecting anything to come through the door, but just in case...

Ellowin smiles a bit at the compliments Fletcher's been picking up on his combat prowess lately as she moves into the doorway. Not one to let a goblin live, she moves into the room and fires an arrow at the nearby goblin, trying to avoid any sharp, pointy objects being thrust in her general direction.

Ellowin climbs the ladder and moves along the upper ground to a spot where she can see better. Not understanding Goblin or Tien, she instead hopes to rely on her own instincts.

Snapping out of her day(s?) long daze, Ellowing shouts, "Watch out! Goblins!"

She then runs west 30' (to B18) and fires an arrow at the running goblin (if she can see it... otherwise the one at K9, at a -4 penalty due to being prone (I think it's asleep?)).

I'm guessing its a wand of cure light wounds? I'll let the spellcraft folks figure it out if not! Either way, added it to the loot list. Could go to either Anisha, Yui, Fletcher, or Rishana, but Ellowin would just auto-give it to Anisha.

Ellowin fingers the fabric of the cloak, then offers it to Anisha, "You should probably take it, will keep the chill out, at the least."

Turning to Walthus, she asks a few questions, "Okay, the sheriff said you'd be able to help us as a guide. So, can we borrow your map if you're not going to... y'know, guide us? Also, you wouldn't happen to have another of those wands laying around, would ya? Probably a long shot, but ya never know..."

"I heard the Soggy River Monster was naught but a rumor! You're telling me it actually exists!? Have you lain eyes upon it? Truly, actually lain eyes upon it? Seen it in its own majestic, surely worth a good bit of coin, hide? Whereabouts on this map would you..." she starts, then looks around at her companions staring at her, "Er, maybe later. Hey, you wouldn't happen to have any venom extract from them snakes, would ya? That could come in handy."

Calling down, Ellowin shrugs, "Dunno, but either he has real good eyes, or I suck at hiding in houses... this is why I hate being inside ..." she grumbles.

Pulling out her handaxe and putting her bow back in its customary spot, she helps the man up and half carries him down the stairs, keeping a watchful eye for any rippling skin, "Can ya give me a hand with him, Gohei? And is Senga still inside? I trust her nose more than my eyes!"

Almost as casually as an aside to the halfling, "No offense or nothing, Walthus. But, y'know, it's been kinda crazy and all the last couple of minutes."

Keeping her bow drawn and nocked, Ellowin gives one final look to Anisha to make sure that she is okay, Ellowin slips past Gohei, motioning that it is okay. Moving up the stairs, she slips into the shadows, stepping lightly, "it is just like the forest, remember, each step can give you away. The nail sticking out, the crack of glass, there, the loose board nearly gave us away, didn't it? Careful, girl, careful." Slowly, Ellowin searches for what caused the shouting.

Ellowin quickly nocks an arrow and let's it fly at the... whatever the hell that thing is that stands there where the halfling used to be, "Quick! Someone get her out of there!"

If Anisha's prone, it shouldn't have cover, but if she's still up, it get's +4 AC from my shot, probably making it a miss

I doubt it's goblinoid, but if it is, I get +2 to both of those. I doubt this, too, but does my previous Knowledge (nature) tell me anything about it? Doubt it'd fall under nature, but here's hoping!

Ellowin thinks back to her father's and Shalelu's teaching's on different poisons, and poisons that she herself has encountered in her own huntings, "rippling skin... sloughing off, yes, but rippling? This is odd, indeed..."

Breathing in the colder air, Ellowin just smiles to herself. Finally, something bigger. It might not be much, but the posters about town only confirmed her talk with Shalelu earlier that month about the goblins growing in size. And now this talk of a bounty.

She double checked that her freely strung and not hung up on her well-worn and well-oiled leather armor, stained a dark brown to blend into the forest. She never really fit in well, here in town, but liked it well enough. It really was the only place to get news. And the stories. All the new folks from afar with their stories nowadays!

She walked into the Rusty Dragon, immediately noticing the larger than normal crowd, smiling and greeting those she knew. Carefully, she skirted the fringes of the crowd, carrying a small sack gingerly, making way for Ameiko, shouting over the roar of the crowd, "Ameiko! Thought you might have a use for these!" She then pulls out a brace of freshly dressed rabbits, "Not sure it'd feed this crowd, though... The sheriff been by, yet? I hope I haven't missed him."

I like that breaking down format! Okay, let's give it a whirl.

Anisha - Her ties to the caravan and as the caravan's healer's apprentice have probably brought the two into contact before. She probably doesn't know much about Anisha, though she would envy her if only for the traveling, no matter how small, she's had from Sandpoint

Fletcher - Ellowin would probably have heard the story from Shalelu about finding a thankless halfling in the bogs around Sandpoint. During her nights at the Rusty Dragon, she's sure to have run into him and wheedled a song or story out of him, as well. And coming from Magnimar! Such a grand city!

Ikoma - Not real sure Ellowin would know Ikoma well. She would know of him, surely, but I don't think she'd know him personally.

Rishana - I like it. Of everyone in the group, Ellowin would probably be closest with Rishana after their little run in. It's just so hard to say no to the woman with the large spear!

Yui - Ellowin would definitely remember a Tien caravan with a wayang child coming in when she herself was a child. And the return of a wayang a week ago would certainly be the buzz of the town for at least a few days. Her shows of combining shadows and drawings to tell stories would definitely draw in Ellowin's interest, as well as her little friends (though maybe not the scorpion so much...).

When I GM PbP PFS, Fletcher's method is kind of the method I use. What I do is I'll roll everyone's initiative, then take the average of the bad guy's initiative bonus and roll that. The first round will usually end up looking something like this:

Rishana Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Fletcher Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Ellowin Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Anisha Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Ikoma Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
Yui Initiative: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Critters Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Anisha Tie Breaker: 1d20 ⇒ 14
Critters Tie Breaker: 1d20 ⇒ 3

Group 1's up! The critter's will act on Wednesday or after everyone's posted their actions, whichever happens first. Hope you remembered your ghost-bane weapons!

I then give Group 1 2 or 3 days to post their actions, and as they post their actions, they get moved to Group 2. Once everyone in Group 1's acted and been moved to Group 2, the critters act. If they don't post their actions by the deadline, they lose their turn (because I'm an evil woman). After the critters act, everyone in Group 2 (which is the whole party now) gets moved up to Group 1 and we just repeat the process until either the party or the critters are all dead. Or subdued. Or run away. Whichever.

That's just my method, though. I like it, it works for me, it's quick (because of the time limit), and it benefits initiative bonuses (at least for the first round, which is when you really want those bonuses to work). Just my two cents on initiative and how I've been working it. I'll go with whatever method you decide to go with, of course.

Also, I've never used Hero Points, so I'll need to look into that...

Ellowin was born and raised in Sandpoint. Well, just outside of Sandpoint. The Player's Guide doesn't advise it, but I think I'm going to change her Favored Enemy to humanoid (goblinoid) to reflect that.

Skill-wise, she has the trapper archetype, so no spells for her, but she gets the rogue's trap abilities, so she can work mechanical and magical traps. She's also proficient with handling them critters as well as knowing a bit about them once in a while. She's made a profession of surviving in the wilderness by trapping game, so there's that, too. She doesn't handle herself too well in the thick of combat, preferring to hunt and track her prey after attacking from a goodly distance.

I agree that Rishana and Ellowin would probably know each other. I can imagine the awkward situation they found themselves in years back when Ellowin was tracking down Senga only to come up against Rishana...

Okay, looks like everyone has ties to either Ameiko or Koya except for me, who has Shalelu all to myself. For some reason, she's treats me like a little sister, and I look up to her like a big sister, so it works out!

Ellowin wouldn't really know much about the goings on in Sandpoint proper, as she spends most of her time in the wilderness where she lives and hunts, only coming to town to sell hides and meat and restock on supplies. She'd probably know a lot of people by face, but not necessarily by name. It's very likely she's spent some long nights at the Rusty Dragon, though, listening to the various adventures and tales spun there.

As for the caravan part, I'm going to be honest and say I didn't really fully understand it. I mean, I kind of get it, but it just seems like an awful complex procedure for a simple concept. I was just going to kind of sit in the background and hopefully soak it in until I had some kind of grasp on what the heck it was about. So I don't really have any input on it.

Ellowin searches the ground, looking for tracks left by the stag, and seeing if the direction the stag left corresponds with the direction they were traveling while following the tracks from before.

She then walks back to where Kara still stands, hopefully out of earshot of the beast and whispers to her, back still turned, pausing momentarily at the blue hue in Kara's eyes but deciding to ask anyways, "Is there some way to see if this thing is some sort of phantasm to deceive us? The fey are known to be fond of such things."

I know she's detecting magic, but Ellowin doesn't

Ellowin, staying where she is, is not as trusting as everyone else seems to be, "Tell me, White Stag, from where do you come? I have never heard of local legends speak of you. Perhaps you could tell us more of yourself, so that we may know of the wonder before us?"

And that voice... it does not sound as if a creature such as this would speak in such a voice.

"Well, this is a little unexpected... meeting a talking elk, that is," Ellowin says, fumbling for words. "I'm Ellowin, and I wish you peace, as well..."

Knowledge (local) (Max DC 10 possible - untrained): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 Trying to think of any local legends that might speak of a white, talking, one-eyed stag... She hasn't lived here long, though, so I doubt I'd be able to make it with an untrained check, but maybe it's worth a shot?

Ellowin shrugs, "Fey are fickle. They usually live in the moment and do whatever amuses them at the time. Most fey have no conception of consequences for their actions, so it is almost impossible to discern what they may do at any given moment."

Turning to Daevin, she adds, "Demanding payment for passage with song, for example, after attacking us. The song was beautiful, by the way. You should teach me the words someday." She bites her lower lip and fidgets with her bow a bit after admitting to the way the song moved her, even if she did not know the words nor the language. Snapping out of it at Arthorian's demands, she looks up sharply at the elf.

This one... What drives him so? He desires to lead us, but does not seem to want the responsibility such an action might have. His friend, however, would make a good leader, but does not seem to want to lead. Perhaps that is what makes him seem like a good leader...

She nods to Arthorian and starts looking through the snow and underbrush for tracks, ignoring the passage of the sprites through the upper trees.

True, but most fey speak Sylvan over Aklo. Aklo is generally tied more to the otherworldly eldritch horrors from the First World and seems to have a more aquatic nature to it than Sylvan, which is the more woodsy language from the First World. Which is why it's a little surprising to see sprites using Aklo, is all. I'm guessing I'll need to dump a point into linguistics to pick up Aklo down the road, then, as fey are my favored enemy, and if the fey in the AP speak Aklo, it'd make more sense since all I can speak is Sylvan.

Turning to Arthorian, Ellowin replies, "They were sprites, though none like any I've ever encountered before. I do not know what language they spoke, but it was not that of the Fey. They did not speak Sylvan, only that harsh guttural language. I cannot tell if they were the same sprites you spoke of before, though, since you did not really describe them in much detail, and the snow fall is too thick and too dark for me to be able to see much more than their outlines in the light."

Sprites that speak Aklo? Very odd...
