![]() Hey Guys I am looking for an easy printable list for all conditions and simple actions. (Strike, stride, crawl). Also a list of actions as part of skills would be really nifty. I really do not want to have to retype a full list, I was hoping I could find something on the site. Anyone out there have a link to something like this? Best Regards, Steel Forged Games ![]()
![]() So I have some questions from you vets out there. There is a debate that rages in my group and it is tearing us apart. It is all about taking 20 on a skill check such as perception. So we are currently running the 'Hell's Rebels' AP and they want to search the room. The perception check is like a 24 to notice something. They 'take 20' to searching the room. So now they automatically find anything in the room. Is that correct? If this is correct why put a DC at all on perception check? After combat everyone is obviously going to take 20 to search the room. Please help with this debate. Steel Forged Games. ![]()
![]() I see that the chronicle sheet says just Tier 1 not 1-2. Does this mean that level 2's cannot get credit for it? The reason I ask is that some of the GM's at my local store said there were enough repeatable adventures to get your players to level two. What are those 6 adventures? Thanks you guys you are amazing. ![]()
![]() So I had a player show me a build that I feel is totally broken. This is for PFS play so there are some limitations. However he seems to have all of his ducks in a row. Is there anyone out there that can help me figure out if this is truely meant to work this way? The Build of Awesome: Druid 5/ Ranger 3
1) Natural Spell
So he will use wild shape to change like the spell beast shape III, into a Huge animal. A) His animal of choice is a beheamoth hippo who has a bite attack of 4d8. B) Improved natural attack moves your base damage 1 category. So 4d8 becomes 8d8? C) Spell Strong Jaw gives you more silliness and moves you to a 12d8 dmg d) Vital Strike for 24d8 So where is his error, has to be one in here somewhere. 24d8 just seems silly. Thoughts?? ![]()
![]() I am looking to build a monk. This is PFS so I have a 20 pt buy. I went Tengu so I could get the +2 to dex and Wis. I spent 5 points each on Str, Dex, Con and Wisdom. So my stats seem good at: Str: 15
So the concept I want to go for is a debilitating monk. I want to focus on being able to weaken monsters not being all about damage. So what kind of feats would you suggest? What I am thinking at the moment is: 1) Crushing Blow (L) and Combat Reflexes (C)
Any thoughts on how to build a monk like this? ![]()
![]() So this post might need to be on the advice board or in that nifty Thornkeep thread down there (looks down a few posts at the really nifty Thornekeep post, then back up. 'Wait a minute how did you get up there?' Oh nevermind). So this is happening in the Thornkeep dungeon but it could happen in any dungeon or any scenario really. Scenarios though for their part seem to have better pacing to avoid what I am about to talk about. So I have a player who likes to read ahead. And if he does not have access to that book then he reads the forums like crazy to find everything out. Then he goes one step further and acts on it. Memorizing spells that no one in their right mind keeps on tap, like cure posion. I mena you might have a scroll of it but using one of your slots for that, just not likely. Unless you know what is coming. My newest answer to this is not to tell the players what I am running until we get to the table. I hope that helps. Right now the biggest problem is we are doing The Enigma Vaults of Thornkeep and this player has read all the encounters. They are not near the end yet but this character has taken some ability damge. He wants to leave the dungeon and rest up to get it all back. Because he knows what is at the end. It would take 8-10 days for him to get it all back. Funny:
Got to love Touch of Idiocy. I rolled a 6 on the spell and he had alredy taken CHA damage from the Endless sky room What do you do as a GM if the party decides to leave? Does the monster stay there chilling out and waiting? I was thinking of having the monster leave if they do, plot: and then just dock their chronicle sheets for the lost gold. Thoughts? after all there are multiple exits from the place. ![]()
![]() So I am currently running a Fighter/Rogue. Is is possible to switch to a Fighter/Ninja? I am a giant tin can so I dont use evasion anyhow. I just went rogue for the sneak attack and I haven't taken anything that the Ninja doesn't have. Also in full plate I have not even attempted to disarm any traps. Right night Fighter 2/Rogue 3 ![]()
![]() I have been working on this build for a bit now. I think I like it, though I have made some mistakes. Playing PFS so I can't change them now. I was curious what you guys thought of this Swordsman Build. He will be a Fighter 2/Rogue 10 or Fighter 3/Rogue 9. My rationale is I am not really in love with any advanced talents from the rogue and you do not get another sneak attack level till 11th which I won't get. I have designated feat progression with L for level, T for Rogue Talent, C for class and R for Race. 1st: C: Combat Expertise
2nd: C: Step Up 3rd: L: Skill Focus: Bluff 4th: T: Weapon Training: Great Sword 5th: L: Deceitful 7th: L: Following Step 8th: T: Combat Trick: Vital Strike 9th: L: Step up and Strike 11th: L: Toughness I had originally envisioned having more feats. I was going to use Combat trick to keep up with feat progression of a fighter. Then I read that little line that said each talent can only be taken once. This made me sad. This is why I also ended up with step up at 2nd level and so I just followed it out. I can abandon those two chain feats taht follow it if you can think of a way to make it better. There is probably much better things to take at 11th as well but I can't really think of any. Maybe Improved disarm? Rogue Talent Tree: 2nd: Weapon Training Great Sword
So since I cannot find any tricks I really like I was thinking of taking that last level of fighter there to bump up the hp and BAB. That is also why I was looking at Toughness there to get a bump up hp. Thoughts? Looking now at thinking I should have used Ninja over Rogue. Since I am looking specifically for combat. ![]()
![]() I have ran 4 games in PFS thus far. The first two that I ran listed under the notes section GM +2 (First two levels of Thornkeep). The other two I ran Among the Living and Among the Dead have the notes section blank. Is there a reason why? It also says I currently have 6 tables of credit, which seems odd. I am assuming that since the last game I ran (Among the Dead) was just two days ago the system has not updated? Do you get two credits of per game ran? So then it is five games ran to get your first star? Last question, this involves GM prestige. Everyone of those say GM prestige +2, but reading the PFS guide it says GM get 1 prestige. So how many do you do you get? -sfg ![]()
![]() So I run PFS for my home group weekly and I play in a PFS game at the local game store. I noticed that every week my home game changes number, while the one at the store stays the same. How do I set it up so that my home game does not change numbers every week? What am I missing? Also in regards to sessions. How are you calculating that? I run four players at one table so that is four sessions, yes? ![]()
![]() So I have a rogue in my gaming group that just takes 20 everytime he enters a room to look for traps. How do you as GM's handle this? Do you just have monsters rush them while he is taking his 2 min. to search? This has mainly been an issue for the Thornkeep dungeon. Like the Forgotten Laboratory, the hall with the traps. When he saw no baddies he just took 20 to look the room over and found the traps. They kill the room and he takes 20 on it looking for stuff. Just seems silly but I am curious how other GMs handle this. -SFG ![]()
![]() So I am going to run Among the Living but it is OGL not PFRPG. Oops! So I am trying to update the Bugbear Zombie to PF. Can someone check me here to see if I have my stats right? I have put in bold the changes. Bugbear CR 2
CE Medium humanoid (goblinoid) Init +0; Senses darkvision 60 ft., scent; Perception +8 Defense AC 18, touch 10, flat-footed 18 (+2 armor, +5 natural, +1 shield) hp 27 (4d8+4)(the +4 is from toughness) Fort +3, Ref +5, Will +3 DR 5/slashing Offense Speed 30 ft. Melee morningstar +7 (1d8+4)
Ranged javelin +3 (1d6+3) Statistics Str 18, Dex 11, Con 0, Int 10, Wis 10, Cha 10 Base Atk +3; CMB +7; CMD 17 Feats Intimidating Prowess, Toughness The biggest concern in hp, I think. Among the Living is showing them at 42hp. So am I missing anything? ![]()
![]() Quick update: New to PFS. I have played 2 sanctioned games, but would like also start running at home. I have read over the PFS guide. I have not purchased the Field Guide yet. I am looking to run Thornkeep mods as the first PFS for my players. Question 1) Fame - In the two scenerios I have played 29 and 45, there is no spot for fame. On the Thornkeep chronicle sheet there is a slot of Fame. Where is this normally recorded? My understanding is it is different from Prestige. In my last session I had to pay a PP to get blindness removed. Did my fame go down as well? Thought they were seperate stats. Question 2) Gold Accural - How is the gold award amount decided? In my two PFS games as a level 1 character I have gotten just over 500gp per scenerio. Where does this number come from? In the Guide, I think, it says it is in the scenerio. With Thornkeep not originally being a PFS module, there is nothing in the book that states the gold amount acquired. Where would I find such writings? Question 3) What does this: To create an dhampir, fetchling, goblin, ifrit, kitsune, nagaji, oread, sylph, undine, or wayang character, you must have a Chronicle sheet that opens the race as a legal option at character creation. mean? How do you know when the legal options on chronicle sheets occur? *scratches head* That is it for now. Sorry about all of the silly questions, I just want a good handle on this before I run something wrong. Thanks. -SFG ![]()
![]() So I decided to use the point buy system this time for my pathfinder game. We used the 20pt buy system cause I know my players love playing high heroic fantasy. But I have a problem, one guy is playing a Duegar warrior and he moved his stats around so he had a 7 cha before he applied the stat changes. So that means now he has a 3 cha. How do you guys suggest dealing with that? ![]()
![]() Is there anyway to make the cities larger in kingmaker? My players are asking me even though they are barely half full on their city. They just do not think it is going to be big enough to do what they want with it. Can you just spend BP to expand the city further? If there is a post I missed about this somewhere just link it here, I looked all over and could not find it. Thanks. ![]()
![]() So I am running an adventure path(Council of Thieves) for the first time and I am a bit concerned about the wealth of the characters. I have checked the Pathfinder book and character wealth at 5th level should be 10,500gp in items. The tank in the party has just over 20,000gp in items and that does not include consumables like wands or potions. OH I am running the game with a group of 4 players. So have I done something wrong with the way these modules work or are they normally running this heavy on cash? Thanks for the clarification guys. Pelham ![]()
![]() So how long does an order usually pend, prior to shipping. I am more interested when I will be able to at least download the pdf prior to the start of the next module. I have got one set of side quests I am going to run then I am out of stuff to do until I get a look at the module (which I can run from pdf). Any ideas? As I said not so concerned for the print edition of 27, but from what I understand in the FAQ before I get that in the downloads section the print edition has to ship. Do I got that right? Pel |
