Asherick Whiteplume wrote: Am I talking to myself... is there anyone listening? Are we getting a post soon? Have we lost Dex? I hate to do this, but I've lost Ebon's 'voice', and I don't seem to be able to find and keep it. I realise my last few months of posts have been pretty poor. I'm reading what's happening, but I don't seem to have anything to add. Possibly that's also because I've been desperately conserving spells for the last year or so.
I think I'm going to drop out.

"Let's rescue Graxer and leave. I don't think we should stay here - or discuss anything. I'd be surprised if the Arkona weren't setting up to play one last card."

"Ashe - look to your soul before you look to your guilt. Pharasma judges the intention of actions, not their outcomes. To hold oneself accountable for results is to hold oneself to an impossible standard. Down that road lies madness, chaos and evil."
HP 44/51(59) | Con 11/12
Ebon Wings ascends quietly.
HP 44/51(59) | Con 11/12
"Good point. Very well. When we return."
HP 44/51(59) | Con 11/12
"Let's take him with us. Could we really leave a friend entombed in this damned place?"
HP 44/51(59) | Con 11/12
Sorry guys, edited and accidentally screwed up the tags. :/

Edmund Gwenn wrote: "I've begun to hope that he never came here after all, after having seen this place."
Nevertheless, once his immediate injuries have been tended, Edmund shows Neolandus the portrait of his son.
Ebon hangs back a little with Edward.
"Ashe is focussed on saving the city - and he's young. I'm older than I look, Edward. I too have lost a son. I have some idea of what you must be going through. If I can help, tell me."['/b]
when he sees the room

"Edmund - show him the picture. He may have seen your son."
HP 44/51(59) | Con 11/12
Ebon calls upon his inner gifts to ensure that the three headed woman is truly dead, and that Kalepopolis is not some monster in disguise.
HP 44/51(59) | Con 11/12
Assuming this is possible...
Ebon makes his way carefully to the double doors in the north, checking to see if they are latched or locked.
The fight rages behind him, but he is confident in his companions' victory.
HP 44/51(59) | Con 11/12
Ebon stands protectively over the prisoners, and commences freeing them. He starts with Neolandus Kalepopolis.
HP 44/51(59) | Con 11/12
headdesk... sword please. Though probably whatever happens to be closer.

Ebon Wings starts to move around the opposite side of the torturer. As he moves he calls on a forge-spirit he helped months ago.
Move: move. Stay more than 5' away.
Standard: cast Burning Disarm fire: 5d4 ⇒ (2, 2, 4, 4, 2) = 14 save = DC 17 - successful save drops weapon. Unsuccessful save takes fire damage.

Edit: looks like Ebon's not going to have to 'Hold' after all!
HP 44/51(59) | Con 11/12
Ebon follows Ashe's orders, moving into position and getting ready to free the prisoners when she attacks the others.
not sure who is in which square - and I suspect she'll go down fast. Will run to (and free if possible) whichever prisoner is most in danger. The stretchee, I imagine.
HP 44/51(59) | Con 11/12
Ebon Wings has Deathwatch Eyes. Does she register?
HP 44/51(59) | Con 11/12
Ebon casts
1: Guidance on himself
2: Guidance on Ashe
3: Guidance on Jord
4: Guidance on Vencarlo
5: Aspect of the Falcon on himself
6: Cape of Wasps on himself

"Let's go." he agrees, trailing Ashe.
HP 44/51(59) | Con 11/12
Grimly silent for most of the conversation, Ebon catches up with Ashe as the leave and speaks quietly.
"I haven't given up on Graxer yet. If we can get his body back, we might yet be able to do something."
"Thank the Gods of Good you were part of this at the beginning Ashe. You have become the soul of the Justicars. Others come and go, but you are the constant that keeps the team going. We would not be here without that. Would you really try to force someone to stay who did not agree? Better they go to do good in their own way."
HP 44/51(59) | Con 11/12
Ebon uses his Deathsight to judge just how injured the manacled person is - and whether it is undead. This might also reveal if the 'statues' are alive.
Ebon starts forward, but Edward's comment nods, and steps closer to Jord.

"I'm sorry, Ashe. Thank you for the healing. Decades of legal practice have left me sensitive to the accuracy of information. It is a surprise I didn't shout 'objection'." Ebon says, with an uncharacteristic smile.
HP 44/51(59) | Con 11/12
Thanks Ashe,
wait - isn't there a door between us. Am I missing something?
HP 44/51(59) | Con 11/12
Ebon looks at Ashe, then shrugs
"Not exactly... I'm a Lawyer. A dead one. I managed to negotiate to return to the city - and life - to free my family from Undeath. My Nosoi officer is here watching now. As a, I suppose, 'half-spirit' I'm able to see and hear the spirits around us. I've a knack for negotiation and have managed to accrue several favours and services from them. While I'm not actually a priest of nature, I bear a more than passing resemblance."
HP 44/51(59) | Con 11/12
Ebon closes his eyes, concentrating on his connection to the spirit world.
Menhir Savant's Spirit Sense. Assuming nothing.
Once confident that those in the cell are not Rakshasha, not traps, he turns his attention to the door, looking at the locks and checking for traps.

HP 44/51(59) | Con 11/12
Cool :)
We should probably have the discussion IC at some point then.

HP 44/51(59) | Con 11/12
Ebon looks disapprovingly at Ashe, but says nothing. He continues to say nothing all the way to the other lever.
HP 44/51(59) | Con 11/12
"Hmmm. This is not a job for the spirits. I once knocked a knife-wasp nest off a balcony using forty feet of rope. We draped the centre of the rope over the nest, each stood twenty feet away, heaved and ran."
"Does anyone have rope?"
HP 44/51(59) | Con 11/12
"That would make sense" Ebon Wings agrees, laying a hand upon the stone. snowball and Owl's Wisdom, please
HP 44/51(59) | Con 11/12
"Then we should probably use it. No point leaving it charged for the Arkona." Ebon suggests
"Ashe. Which way should..." Ebon wings is cut off

Ebon looks carefully - keeping his distance to the mold covered bones. Could this be a garbage pit? A graveyard? Or a trap?
HP 44/51(59) | Con 11/12
Ebon Wings nods his assent.
well done guys
HP 44/51(59) | Con 11/12
Ebon looks at Ashe "We made a deal with it. Perhaps it was a 'deal with the devil', but still a deal. One does not break one's word, especially when dealing with the spirit world."
"Yes. It is a problem, but one we can deal with when we leave this bedamned labyrinth."
HP 44/51(59) | Con 11/12
Ebon calls upon a rather cryptic deal he brokered with Arachnidae, shares it with his companions and then runs over to the wall. "It will be safer here" he assures them.
Communal Spider Climb. Could have given it to Ashe. I guess up to people as to whether they'd like to be under the effect.
Asherick Whiteplume wrote: Ok... Peronally.. I'm of the opinion ...considering how we have such a revolving door in this game of players comming in and leaving.. if ALL three of you wanted in.. I'd be fine with it. But I'll let Ebon Wing and Edmund Gwenn have their piece before we make it a done deal. I'm okay with it. Ebon's a quiet character - he needs people to bounce off. Probably a mistake in hindsight.
HP 44/51(59) | Con 11/12
Sorry to see you go, Lucia.
I hope things get easier for you.
HP 44/51(59) | Con 11/12
Ebon stands silently through the exchange, then nods at Lucia's comment.
HP 44/51(59) | Con 11/12
"No" Ebon wings shakes his head "Yet another prisoner trapped in this Damned place? Who is he?"
HP 44/51(59) | Con 11/12
"Are you injured? Poisoned?"
HP 44/51(59) | Con 11/12
Deathwatch Eyes and Spirit Sight! Dang but we have a lot of sensory powers
Ebon speaks, a maudlin tone to his voice as his accent turns archaic
"Ashe tells the truth. We have fought the Rakshasas today. Aye, even lost a brave comrade."
"You have an interesting puzzle. To trust, or not? It could all be a trick, but down that route lies madness. Stay here alone, or hope these new come heroes are all they seem."
"It seems, to me, the worst we could do for you is to leave you alone here. It seems, to me, that short of a messenger from the gods appearing in a spray of divine music, all you can do is trust your heart, and us."
HP 44/51(59) | Con 11/12
Dang. I think I've lost Ebon's voice.
Uh, are we going to bid on items, or something? 'Cause there's some nice stuff in that list.
HP 44/51(59) | Con 11/12
Ebon starts to warn Ashe: but too late.
"At least they're animated, rather than some undead abomination... but, yes. I concur, Ashe, let's take the time to destroy this monstrosity."
"Ashe, may I borrow your bow to assist?"
HP 44/51(59) | Con 11/12
Ebon Wings has Deathwatch up, and it seems made for this situation :)
Are they alive, dead, undead, or other?
HP 44/51(59) | Con 11/12
"Might as well keep going" offers Ebon Wings "We've explored here."
HP 44/51(59) | Con 11/12
Well, people also turn up with items. Might want to be careful about WBL.
Edmund: that's hilarious... can't wait to 'meet' you :P
