PAX Unplugged committee member here. Paizo had pulled official support for PAX Unplugged a few months back, which was/is understandable, as it wasn’t clear what the CoVID situation would be by December. That meant that we would not have had a dedicated room for PFS/SFS as we had in 2019 (and I think there was in 2018). Committee members reached out to PAX contacts to determine if there would be a space that we could setup in the RPG room, but they didn’t receive a response. That would mean that any games run would have been restricted to being run at open tables in the dealer hall, which has limited hours compared to the rest of the convention. Given the difficulty of trying to organize/coordinate games there and the financial situation of needing to support things ourselves and pay for hotels/parking, the committee decided it would be better to not run games this year rather than provide a potentially bad experience. We are excited to return to PAX Unplugged with better support in 2022.

I was perusing the Gen Con Online schedule for PFS(2ed) Special #3-99: Fate in the Future and I noticed that all the high level tables (5-6 and 7-8) are Sold Out but there are still many open tables of the lower tiers, especially 1-2. Are there any plans to adjust the tables and open up some more high level play?

It is pretty unlikely that will happen, as GMs had to pick their tier over a month ago and sign-ups have already opened/people have paid for tickets to the available tables. There was also an increase in the number higher tier tables this year compared to last year. The special will be offered at other online conventions over the next couple months, so it will be possible to play a high tier then.

It's definitely a very tough fight and there are some hints that the PCs should run away from it. I killed nearly all of the PCs each of the times that I ran it, with a couple of them surviving to run away or be revived by the faerie dragon.

It is a good introduction to the idea that not every fight is winnable, and sometimes running away/surviving is winning, especially since there are no stakes for the players with the game run in campaign mode.

There's a definite need to push the in combat pace as a GM in this one. A nice middle ground could be, "X, it's your turn, your tree is going to attack/heal Y."

I discouraged use of brown trees, pointing out the targeting of all creatures.

Pushing towards fast decisions on the choice of trees by goading in a helpful direction can also help some indecisive groups. I put colored Roll20 auras on the trees and had the players rename the trees after themselves. Both groups I ran for went with 2 blue, 2 purple, and 1-2 red. It worked pretty well to them and allowed them to choke the enemies at the bridge.

The list of VOs was largely removed from the Paizo website for privacy reasons. You can contact the RVC for the area Dan Simons at pfs.rvc.northeast [at] gmail.com, and he can put you in touch with the NYC VO corps that organize games in the area. It’s likely they are on hiatus currently due to CoVID, but they may be restarting soon and interested in having someone run at a location that you’re thinking of.

This is the high tier/high CP low-tier version. With 3 of them that can potentially chain kill each other (they are susceptible to the slashing, but not poison), it's a lot of non-avoidable damage.

I noticed the chronicle sheet has no items listed, not even the wand of widening (burning hands) given at the end. Was that intentional or were they missed due to an error?

The lack of items isn’t an error. Only few chronicles actually have items. The widening wands are common items of level 4 and 6, so normally available to half the characters playing and perhaps considered not appropriate to be made available earlier than those levels by being on the chronicle sheet.

You only need a ticket to play games.

It looks like the Twitch Schedule link is currently going to the Warhorn schedule, rather than a full version of the Twitch schedule, which is partially visible in the graphic.

Since I haven't seen a PFS blog post since this one, I'll drop my inquiry here.

Since Gen Con pushed back to September, should we expect to see a similar adjustment in the release schedule? I might expect to see season three launch delayed so it still appeared at Gen Con which would mean added 2-25 & 2-26 to the existing schedule to fill August. As tight as the schedule is described, dunno if there is time to make such a change, but it would likely hurt Gen Con participation if the "new" releases weren't new anymore. Though the special will always draw interest.

There hasn't been any information one way or another if GenCon moving will or won't affect Paizo participation and/or release schedule yet. I'm sure they are busy discussing all of their options and will let us all know when they can.

I think eliminating fame is absolutely the right way to go - though I might suggest, since it maps 1 to 1 with AcP anyway, it might be useful for players and GMs to still track that number anyway so they know how many ACP per character they SHOULD have to make self auditing and figuring out where reporting errors have happened easier

Fame doesn't map 1 to 1 with AcP though, as you get additional AcP for playing at conventions, when you don't get additional Fame.

Extinction Curse hasn't been sanctioned yet and is fully published. At least so far, sanctioning of Pathfinder APs has not occurred until after the entire AP is published. Following this pattern, sanctioning wouldn't be expected for at least 5-6 months. It's entirely possible sanctioning might occur earlier.

They were discussed during a PaizoCon panel. For this year, they will all be for level 1 characters only and repeatable. They are similar in length to quests without a direct Society tie-in, hence being a bounty.

Are there preset Starfinder Repeatable tables on R20 for the convention that could be cloned for this?

I'm having a rough time trying to make maps work, and it's a huge stumbling block to volunteering to help on-line.

There are several GMs on the Paizo Organized Play Discord willing to lend tables and/or help with making building a table easier.

Maps are much easier if they are just the regular size flipmats, which allow you to set the size of the Roll20 map to 31x25 then resize the map to the 30x24 and you're done.

People have also used Google Slides and Discord chat dice roller for a real-time version of play-by-Discord, though it is less common.

Nope, it was revealed in the Adventure Path panel right after that there will be two three part adventure paths after Agents of Edgewatch. The first runs levels 1-10 and starts in Otari, where the Beginner Box is set. The second is 11-20 and is a return to the Ruby Phoenix Tournament.

Nathan, how much were you charging? 3 gp per day or 3 gp per person each day?

1 gp per hireling per day (with everyone hiring 3 at a time), which I think is what you mean by the 3 gp per day. The 40 gp of incense required for the shrine takes a big chunk out.

Not the organizer, but I'm going to guess there's going to be some sort of mechanism required to transfer over, as some people will want to, others won't and new people (me and others) will want to help out.

Overall, I liked this adventure. I prepared for it to go long, so that wasn't an issue for me, but this will need some work to fit it into PaizoCon.

The only way I was able to get it down to that amount of time was skipping past roleplay in the town straight into the downtime section, providing only a brief explanation of each NPC. I'd do that as a handout if I were to run it again. I also organized all of the tasks so that it was clear what expertise was needed for each one and what order they needed done. Some good channel rolls and having an out of tier barbarian also helped things.

I will be sacrificing the 3 Dragonkin boons at the end of week for another boon. If someone would like to actually play a Dragonkin, Aasimar, or Tiefling, I'd be happy to trade for your race boon that you don't want instead. I would also like to find a Nuar, but I understand that will be very unlikely.

I forgot the nameplate aspect. I always use that to give each token a simple name, such as the first letter of what they are plus a number, if more than 1, or their name if called out. Gary gives a good description of that. It also helps to click the Advanced tab and check the box for Player Permissions to See Name. That lets the players also see your names and can call out, I shoot at S1, etc. You also can as Davor said mouse over the token in the initiative tracker and it will highlight the token with a yellow box.

I'm new as well, but I don't think that will work if you want each one to act on their own initiative instead of group.

You can click each token individually to add them to initiative. The simplest way to do it is not even using a character sheet, but with the macro "/w gm [[d20+?{Initiative|0}&{tracker}]]". If you click a token then that macro, it will prompt you for the initiative modifier, then whisper you the roll, so you can add initiative for both visible and hidden enemies. The key is to not set the hp on the token to call the character sheet hp, but to input it manually. If you set it based on the character sheet, it will change the hp for all of the tokens assigned to that character.

how the leopards/lions climb over the fence surrounding the camp (do they need to roll, does it take one action to scale the fence?)

The fence is listed as 6 ft. tall, which I missed on my first run. The leopards have a climb speed, so they have no problem, and the lions are large with a pretty good Athletics score, so they should also have basically no problem.

I do think the camp defense serves as a good opportunity to see that there is something odd about the animals that are attacking.

All of the repeatable scenarios so far outside of 1-01 run very quickly, which is nice for stores where 3 hrs is the normal allotted time.

The sea serpent barely clinging to life lashes out at Ulfgar, but is unable to connect.
