How to find list of (real life) venture captains?

In order to run PFS in meat space I think you need to be registered with the VC in your area.

My kids are prevailing upon me to run a game. There was an old list (https://paizo.com/organizedplay/coordinators) on the forum but the website just crashes when I try to load it.

If it matters we are located in the Bronx and could play in either Manhattan or the Bronx. I've run and reported a few sessions online.

Anyone with a PFS number can run an all official and everything game. There's benefits to hooking in with your local groups but its not neccesary.

That website is.. wow. extra borked.

If you still want to get in touch with the locals

flat rolling surfaces map should point you to your local brain center for organized play and there should be aventure critter of some sort around.

Edit: thanks for the quick response! Much appreciated.

I though you had to talk to a venture captain and register with a lodge or something.

So I can just rent a table at a FLGS (or a house) get some people and play? And just create an event? Do you make an event for every day you play?

I’m still confused about what VCs do if there’s no list or way to contact them. I guess it’s probably con support?

Yep. Although if you're renting a table regularly you might just want to talk to the store about running games there regularly, and then if/whenever you get a Venture Captain you could then petition to be the Venture Agent for that location.

You can. I find that tedious, though. Now I just use one Event per year. A lot of locations do once a quarter.

The idea of trying to make contact with a Venture-Captain is a good one, but it’s not always possible. If the area does have a VC, being able to communicate with them can help you coordinate with their activities, give a direct person for support etc.

But if there isn’t one, or you can’t find out who they are, the advice you’ve gotten here from Nefreet and BNW is right on track.

It's much easier to create one event and report a bunch of games to it, Ie, Goblins Burrow Organized play, and report every saterday game to it.

Well I swear there WAS a web page there until recently. Paizos web page is .. less of a computers check and more of a knowledge arcana check. Most people looking at organized play get directed to them somehow: either word of mouth, asking on the forums, asking on reddit, facebook, etc. If you click the dot on that map nearest you you'll be able to see the nearest venue and they likely have a venture critter there of some sort.

The list of VOs was largely removed from the Paizo website for privacy reasons. You can contact the RVC for the area Dan Simons at pfs.rvc.northeast [at] gmail.com, and he can put you in touch with the NYC VO corps that organize games in the area. It’s likely they are on hiatus currently due to CoVID, but they may be restarting soon and interested in having someone run at a location that you’re thinking of.

facepalms and notices where you are

Pathfinder NYC still seems to be active and waiting to get up once the apocalypse ends.

This page is our current list of RVCs, which is accessible from the main Organized Play page under "Coordinators".

Hi Alex,
It looks like the Appalachian Region's RVC listing is out-of-date?

Good point, I'll flag that to be updated. Thanks!
