I certainly understand that a GM (and players) should evaluate what they are playing and plan accordingly. No one should feel stuck playing something that they can't make both workable and enjoyable.

That being said, I am personally sad to see this game end. I have enjoyed this campaign, both the PCs and the GMing, and am sorry that the current scenario will go unfinished. I have been a long time trek fan and this has been my sole rpg outlet for the game for some time.

Thank you all for making this game fun and interesting!

Thank you, GM Super Tumbler for getting this campaign going and keeping it going as long as you did. I particularly appreciated your efforts to keep the game feeling "authentic" to canon.

To the players, thanks for some interesting character choices and team work.

I cannot commit, until I have a better handle on my new employment which begins after the new year, but if there is an interest in completing the current scenario, I would strongly consider assuming the GM roll for the conclusion.

Captain Adam Reeves wrote:
Okay, our First Officer is still an NPC. One who would probably argue against Reeves going at all and would insist on remaining behind if Reeves does go (which he is).

With the XO now a NPC, I would like to take over the role of a bridge officer, either by promoting Bhalla or creating a new PC to replace the XO or to fill a role left by another PC being promoted to XO.

I feel that the doctor is, understandably, tied up in Sick Bay most of the time and is too specialized to contribute to most bridge/field missions. I think the GM and players have been top-notch in including me and don't feel excluded. It is just the nature of the genre, I think.

I find myself not posting much, not primarily because I haven't been able to keep up with the thread (though a did have some spells where work/life kept me from keeping up for a while), but because it seems my PC has little to contribute to particular scenes.

If I switch to a bridge officer, the CMO could be a NPC or a back up PC for myself or another player.

Any thoughts?

"Sick Bay to Bridge." chimes in Doctor Bhalla. Presumably, enough hours have passed, to announce:

"I have developed a treatment for the effects of the psychotropic compound in the survivor's blood and a suitable method of delivery.
However, some of adverse effects of exposure are likely to remain in his body for years, perhaps even permanently."
she continues. "What is our current status?"

Instead, the doctor chooses to say nothing and is actually relieved once the Captain closes the channel. She slowly draws her tricorder, hoping that she has done so in a manner that doesn't appear potentially hostile to the Hive members, and then opens it in preparation of a scan.

Character Sheet

Dr. Bhalla continues to monitor the conversation on her comm link. She contemplates whether it might be possible to replicate a synthetic food source that could provide nourishment to the hive-like creatures without their having resort to dilithium consumption.

Reason, Medicine (14): 2d20 ⇒ (12, 3) = 15
Three successes.

"I hope that foolish administrator doesn't begin a war with these creatures." she mutters to herself. "If we drive them from this planet--take an entire world of food from them-- who knows how many worlds, or starbases, or ships, they will try and take from us? If not out of vengeance, then simply out of the necessity for sustenance? Better to 'lose' one rocky planet and buy peace, than enter into an unavoidable war against a foe of unknown strength and numbers and lose lives and so much more."

Unless she can provide an alternative source, the doctor is not ready to try and starve out a mass of alien lives.

The Romulan analogy is not persuasive in my eyes. We would not allow the Romulans to take this world, because 1) the Romulans never had a legitimate claim to it (while it seems the squids may have been here before the Federation, although that is not entirely clear to me) and 2) the Romulans can survive without dilithium (again, it appears that the squids require it for life).
