Let's boldly go!

Looks like we need a command decision or one taken by an officer who is not currently held up inside some sort weird alien stomach.
However, with this being an apparent first contact situation and a crewmember having been taken, I understand wanting to carefully consider any decision taken.
Am I correct that the crew lost sight of the particular squid holding the doctor when it merged with those swarming outside the hive?
Looks like the immediate options available to the crew are:
1) Focus on the squids heading for the ship. Evade them, fire on them, push them away with a tractor beam, or try somehow(?) to get them to talk. Feed the dilithium maybe?
2) Focus on the squids heading for the planet. Same options available as above, but with the redoubt evacuated, I am not sure there is anything other than the dilithium mine to protect.
3) Focus on the space "hive". Fire on it, try to communicate somehow, beam over an explosive device?
4) Retire from Starfleet. Always an option, I suppose. However, if the movies and certain time-related episodes have taught us anything, Starfleet officers have difficulty remaining in retirement (if not going into it!)
Bonus Option: Get promoted to admiral! However, I think these crewmembers are both too moral and too competent for that to ever happen.

GM SuperTumbler |

Lost sight maybe, but you still have a communicator. I imagine they can track you with sensors if they want.
I think what has happened is that we lost Kreskin and Reeves at the same time. Reeves is back, I think, but I haven't heard from Kreskin (Meetch) in either campaign for a while, and he was a pretty good driver of the posting in the past.
Let's just go with whoever is here making decisions and getting things moving, and we will see if we can get this thing back to a more active campaign.

The real asshats in Starfleet are the Commodores.

Series of rainstorms has flooded my basement. May be another day or two before I can get a post out.

My home Pathfinder game ended in a TPK recently. Before we take up our new campaign, we're playing some "palate cleanser" games. We did a board game day. We played a game of The One Ring. And in two weeks I'll be GMing a game of Star Trek Adventures.
This means I finally have to learn the rules of this game. :-)

GM SuperTumbler |

I found the game very easy to learn, but hard to keep track of the rules. I'd kill for a hyperlinked site that contained the rules.
In other news, I think we are fairly well finished up here. Do we feel good about wrapping this up? We can call in a dedicated science vessel with an ambassador to study the Hive and navigate a longterm diplomatic solution.
I'm happy to play that out if we want to, but also good to wrap it up with a Captain's log and move on if we are ready.

Dr. Malati Bhalla |

Agree. Let's boldy go!

GM SuperTumbler |

Everyone should take a look at page 141 in the Core book and make their reputation rolls for the last adventure.
Also, everyone should have a normal milestone, which pretty much just lets you swap some things around if you really want to.
We can also vote on a Spotlight milestone. Players are supposed to vote who they think should get that.
I'm not really worried about advancement in this game, but I thought it might be fun to try it out.

Dr. Malati Bhalla |

Sorry to hear what you are going through, Samuel, but glad to hear that it is only short term.

Dr. Malati Bhalla |

As a heads up, I am heading out to cub scout camp with my son this Thursday, getting back sometime Sunday. Thus, my last post this week will likely be Wednesday (or early Thursday) and my next will be the following Monday. Feel free to bot me.

Captain Adam Reeves |

I will be taking my family to beach this week and will have no Internet connection.
I'll be gone from Monday August 12 to Saturday, August 17.
Have fun while I'm gone!

Captain Adam Reeves |

Thank you for bearing with me. I'm leaving tomorrow for a legal conference out of state and won't be back until Sunday. I'll have no Internet access. So I'll just see you on Sunday.
Cheers!

Captain Adam Reeves |

Sorry I've been gone for so long. But now I'm back!
Just pretend the Captain's been working -real- hard on a crossword puzzle and no one wanted to disturb him...

Okay, our First Officer is still an NPC. One who would probably argue against Reeves going at all and would insist on remaining behind if Reeves does go (which he is).
With the XO now a NPC, I would like to take over the role of a bridge officer, either by promoting Bhalla or creating a new PC to replace the XO or to fill a role left by another PC being promoted to XO.
I feel that the doctor is, understandably, tied up in Sick Bay most of the time and is too specialized to contribute to most bridge/field missions. I think the GM and players have been top-notch in including me and don't feel excluded. It is just the nature of the genre, I think.
I find myself not posting much, not primarily because I haven't been able to keep up with the thread (though a did have some spells where work/life kept me from keeping up for a while), but because it seems my PC has little to contribute to particular scenes.
If I switch to a bridge officer, the CMO could be a NPC or a back up PC for myself or another player.
Any thoughts?

Thoss th'Chiaqis |

I agree with this and have no problems with any of your suggestions. If you create a new PC to be the XO then Lance can go back to being Science Officer (NPC). Another alternative is to promote Thoss to XO and create a helmsman to take over his current role.
I say we have Captain Reeves chime in, but ultimately it is GMST's call.

Dr. Malati Bhalla |

I certainly understand that a GM (and players) should evaluate what they are playing and plan accordingly. No one should feel stuck playing something that they can't make both workable and enjoyable.
That being said, I am personally sad to see this game end. I have enjoyed this campaign, both the PCs and the GMing, and am sorry that the current scenario will go unfinished. I have been a long time trek fan and this has been my sole rpg outlet for the game for some time.
Thank you all for making this game fun and interesting!
Thank you, GM Super Tumbler for getting this campaign going and keeping it going as long as you did. I particularly appreciated your efforts to keep the game feeling "authentic" to canon.
To the players, thanks for some interesting character choices and team work.
I cannot commit, until I have a better handle on my new employment which begins after the new year, but if there is an interest in completing the current scenario, I would strongly consider assuming the GM roll for the conclusion.
