"That might be a good idea." Didier says. He stoops and grasps about on the ground, eventually finding a small rock. He makes a few gestures in the dark, speaking a few words in hushed tones and the rock suddenly begins to glow like a torch. The Frenchman hands it to Treetopper and says, "Keep it in pouch or something to block the light, but pull it out and throw it if you need a signal. I'll be watching and listening." With that he picks his way back to the fire.

Didier blindly picks his way along behind his night-sighted companions.

Flashback, campfire:

Didier listens to the goblin and dwarf exchange stories as he cooks the evening meal. When he finishes cooking he sits down and shares a bit of his own story.

"I am sure you have all surmised that I come from the old world, France in particular. That isn't actually the case, though both my parents are French, and I was raised speaking the tongue, I was actually born in St. Louis. I'm the bastard of a bastard, grandson of nobility, and nobody has any use for a bastard. So, once I grew up, I got out, and made my way in the west, cooking and playing guitar and violin for miners, drovers, and railroaders. Had to sell the instruments to get my wagon and mules, though."

"I've got a little left in me." Didier says, and with a touch, focusing his energy on the canine. Ozark yips as Didier's fiery energy courses through the wolf's veins, cauterizing its wounds and spreading healing warmth throughout.

Technically, I am conscious after Zort's healing.

Didier gratefully takes the potion from Treetopper and drinks it. He then heals himself with another couple spells. At the evening campfire, Didier prepares the worg and cooks it. The meal is a bit average, as the Frenchman is unsure of how to prepare wolf.

Didier begins to cast a spell, but in his attempts to do so without the wolf biting him again, he loses the spell, and loses consciousness soon after.

"We need to find some food out here. I'm about out of rations." Didier says on the morning of the third day. "Must be some sort of creatures to hunt here."

As the day wears on, Didier chances upon a mountain goat, bringing it down with a fiery spell. Unfortunately this ruins a good portion of the meat, but the Frenchman is able to harvest enough to make well prepared and seasoned goat steaks that last the day.

"We should head back to the fort and stock up on provisions, I doubt a goat will wander into our path every day." Didier says after they've fully explored the region.

"You're right Dolgren. The penalty for banditry is death and we've been charged with upholding the law." Didier says, walking toward the young man. "Boy, you've been found consorting with bandits, and admitted as much. The penalty for this is death. I will now carry out your sentence." With that, Didier draws his revolver, cocks it, places the barrel against the young man's head and pulls the trigger.

As the body falls Didier says, "May whatever gods you kept keep you." He walks back to his allies, seemingly unphased. "We've got a lot to do, let's get on with it."

"We cannot kill him after he's surrendered without a trial. We are lawmen, not common thugs like this one." Didier says, his gaze unflinching as he looks toward Dolgren, though he gives a sneer to the bandit.

"My diminuitive associate poses an excellent question. I'd suggest you answer it." Didier says. He keeps his eyes and gun on the boy, ready to fire if this goes sideways.

Didier casts a quick healing spell on himself, the bullet lodged in his body being forced out as the wound knits itself. The Frenchman then strides into the campfire's light, his rifle leveled on the remaining man. "Stand up, sir. I want to see that you're not hiding any weapons or my friends will ventilate your skull like your friend's."

Didier continues to work his way around the camp, not even attempting to be quiet, hoping the noise of his passage will spook the bandits out of hiding.

Double Move. Will adjust my position (hopefully accurately) when I get home from work. Internet is garbage and I can't access Roll20 atm.

Didier, unable to effectively hit anything, stands and starts working his way northeast to circle around the camp.

Move: Stand up. Standard:Convert to move and move 15' NE (everything is difficult terrain in the dark IIRC).

Didier takes a shot at the bandit behind the tree. Pulling the trigger causes a jolt of pain to shoot up his arm from his permanently burnt hands, which in turn causes him to jerk the rifle and miss horribly. "Merde!" he says, cursing under his breath, and reloading the weapon again.

Didier reloads his rifle and crawls a bit to the northeast, trying to get a good shot on the bandit behind the tree in the clearing.

Grunting from the pain, Didier casts a spell to at least partially ward him from the bullets. He then drops prone.

I'm 75' away, so that should be vs. touch AC, and since they can't see me, they shouldn't get dex either, so AC 10?

Didier draws the rifle he took from the bandits at Oleg's place as he hears the guard shout. He then holds position, hoping that whichever goblin alerted the guard can talk his way out of it.

Didier knows he is not a stealthy man, and waits for the others to deal with the first guard before moving forward. "Let me know once you've got him, and I'll move up." he says, before the others go.

"That seems a viable plan, though we should leave horses nearby in case we need to run," Didier says. "I think we should attack around half an hour before dawn. That is when they should be at their most vulnerable."

"Merde! I hate snow." Didier says when he rises after an uncomfortable sleep. He continues, now muttering, "We should have brought the wagons." He ensures that the fire lasts long enough to brew coffee for the group, and offers each a few lumps of sugar if they prefer, taking two lumps himself.

"Best to rest for the evening." Didier says. If no one objects, he tethers his horse to a tree, and gathers fallen limbs and brush to make a fire, lighting it with magic. "If anyone can catch some game, I'd be happy to cook." the Frenchman offers.

"I concur with this plan of action," Didier says. After securing permission to leave his wagon and mules behind for a few days, Didier rides one of the horses taken from the dead bandits, his backpack hung off the saddle.

Didier levels his revolver, a Colt Dragoon, at the rider closest to him and fires. He flinches in pain with the pressure required to pull the trigger, but manages to hit anyway.
