"Danger and daring- Kalron's call, but whatever fell sorcery we faced preyed on the mind with visions of horror and fear. It left all of shaken, Sethiel worst of all. Deshe nods as he takes his coins. "I'll take Sethiel to Lawgiver's Hall, and if you're headed to the priests yourself, you can find me there." Deshe looks around the others to make sure they all heard, and then begins to head to the Lawgiver's Hall.

"Woaah-" Deshe pulls back in surprise as Erik passes.

"Shouldn't we- Never mind." Deshe shakes his head before picking up Sethiel again.

As he takes the second blow- Deshe's vision blurs and he struggles, slamming against the wall to keep from falling before retaking his stance. If the foe can keep striking through his armor- there's no reason to keep healing, it'll only buy time. He readies his axe.

Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Perhaps Kalron blesses this grim work, for it is nearly as might a blow as Deshe could deal.

Deshe - regardless of any attempt to be stoic or brave - gives out a harsh yell of pain as the blow lands home. He tries to raise his shield and desperately call on Kalron's power to mend the wound.

Deshe grits his teeth and forces himself not to take a step back from the dent in his armor. Instead, he strikes back with the axe, but it's a poor blow, and skid's off the walls instead of the foe.

Finding his way clear for now, Deshe continues forward into the corner, figuring it's the best choke point he'll be able to find. He sets Sethiel into the corner as best he can, then stand firm and shoulders his shield.

I'm assuming it's another move action to intentionally set Sethiel down in such a way that I can stand guard over him, rather than just free action dropping him on the floor. If I'm incorrect, I'll spend my standard action on drawing my weapon instead.

Upon sighting the enemy's Deshe's thoughts tumble quickly. Mayhaps he can fight these monsters, but while protecting Sethiel? He needs a chokepoint, but the one behind is too far away. Nothing for it to keep going forward and hope he finds no more monsters.

Using 2 squares of my movement from my move action, I'm turning a corner and I'd like to know if I see another monster before finishing my move.

I think it's perfectly in character for things to be a little chaotic and disorganized under this situation.

I can't find any information in Sethiel's sheet on his weight, so the following post is based on the assumption that he's 127 lbs, the average weight of an Elven male. Fortunately, he's in light armor and not carrying a bunch of camping kit.

"Figures." Deshe says with a bit of dark humor. Nothing for it then. Mustering all the strength he can, he nonetheless shoulders the weight of Sethiel alone and begins moving, resolutely as he can, forward. He knows that if he slams his hat into the wall in front of him, then hugs the left wall apart from that one gap for the room with the bones in it, he should make it out.

I'm under heavy load, double move.

While characterization and roleplaying is important, I view my role, and I even stated it explicitly in my submission, is to play a very simplistic one dimensional hero that tries to open doors and keep things moving forward. I am intentionally playing Cleric In A Dungeon Delve, with most of my backstory dedicated to explaining why I am reckless adventure boy. And part of my reason is because I want to open other people up to playing more complicated characters.

The number of roleplays I have seen, even some with exceptional roleplaying, die 2-3 rooms into a dungeon because no one has opened a door or chest in a month is quite staggering.

We have a massive cast of 7 here. If everyone is trying to be the center of the story, we will just get a ton of noise.

I consider your character raising the question of "snap, we should show some self-preservation and get out of here!" to be great roleplaying that serves the story well. If ALL SEVEN OF US did that right now, it would be a massive wall of thematically repeating text that no one would want to read. There's a reason in movies they usually have one singular cowardly or self-interested character who doesn't want to go on the adventure as easily who expresses their hesitance, rather than multiple.

And if we ended up debating whether we should go forward or back for a month, that would be the worst.

In my opinion, if I open a door foolishly and get my character killed, that's a bummer, but it's just a fictional character, and can serve narrative purpose (hey, this dungeon is DANGEROUS!/alas for reckless youth, such a waste) for the others. If we argue about which door is safest to open for a month, the roleplay dies, and then there's nothing but wasted narrative.
