"It seems like this Azazel meant to give their life to imprison you, but then reconsidered. Because they still live.

"Should I remove the wax seals now? We'd want a torch, but not too close. We just want to heat them enough to peel them away." Is that one Disable Trap check or five? Can Degan estimate how difficult it might be (so I can decide how much Luck to burn)? If not, I'll go with one Luck per check (if five checks) or three Luck (if one check).
Male Human Thief 3 | AC 11 | HP 7/7 | R +2 F +0 W +0 | Luck 12/12
Let's see how much Luck he has to burn... he used 2 getting in to the dungeon, but we rested and he gets back level/day, meaning he is at full. Degan takes a deep breath and ventures forward to examine the seals.
Find Traps, 2 assists: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 5 + 2 = 17
"Okay, I think I have it." Luck 11/12.

DM Brainiac wrote: "Thus, for the greater good of all, I would ask you to venture down into the depths of this place. There you will find a statue with three rubies. These are the Jewels of the Carnifex. Destroy these jewels, and I will be able to complete the rites to finally eradicate the Carnifex, once and for all. Do this, I will reward you with all of the treasures I have found in this place."[/b] "It's a statue with three rubies. Here we are. The Jewels of the Carnifex that we have to destroy. I... hmmm... I have a feeling that destroying the rubies will cause this statue to come alive. So, uh, you don't need me for this part, right? We aren't talking about delicately extracting them, but simply smashing them?" Degan and his 7 HP will slink back against the wall.

Degan looks at the strange idol. Although some may call him a Thief, he isn't tempted to even touch the gold decanter filled with alien slime. "What is that thing? This 'god of Light' that Azazel claims to serve?" He is deeply suspicious of the statue and takes a pallet as far from it as possible.

"I'm not the smart one either. But the story seems at least plausible to me. That these ones of 'the Light' could destroy a 'goddess' isn't so far-fetched; lots of cults have a deity that turns out to be not so deific. But if you need someone less holy to steal some gems, I'm your man."

Degan will draw his dagger and try to hide in the shadows near Mirende, so that if anybody comes for her he can jump out and stab them. And if nobody does come for her, he will be all the happier. Hide in Shadows: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

"What is that starburst sign on the drum skin? Was it a tattoo that the person had before they were killed - perhaps signifying an enemy of this cult - or was it applied to the drum as a symbol of this cult?

Having reported back, Degan prepares to hide behind the warriors.

Deciding against calling out tor the party (and thereby announcing that he is alone), Degan climbs back down the vines and reports on what he sees. "I think we should proceed up the vines, and then go explore both of the chambers that I could see. Can you all make it up the vines?
He will check the two rooms for traps, but only once the party is with him - he does not want to be distracted and immersed in his investigations without somebody watching his back.

Degan will of course search for the way to open the door.
As he looks, he comments, "There are six bodies here, and there were six shades. Might they be the spirits from these bodies? Maybe they were faithful of Carnifex, maybe they were looters who picked up that unholy symbol and were cursed by it, maybe they were among that rumored army of Punjar's nobility that disappeared down here.

"Clancy, what is it you see that troubles you? I know there are the rumors that this place belonged to the Cult of Carnifex, but that greeting? Well, it seems pretty typical for catacombs.
The greeting seems like a pretty standard 'memento mori' statement, and the stacks of skulls are much like the Paris Catacombs for example.

Degan likewise has a rope and grappling hook. The thief takes a running leap...
Strength, Luck: 1d20 + 2d5 ⇒ (9) + (2, 1) = 12 He makes it! Barely. Pummeled in mid-air by the freezing and filthy water, Degan grasps the edge of the platform and and pulls himself onto it.

"That's a good idea, Clancy. I might be able to make it first. Then anchor a rope on that side to help pull you all through the torrent."
He looks at the skull he would be swinging towards and shivers. "Unless any of you have magic, or a better idea, or happened to see some long and sturdy boards on the way down here..."

DM Brainiac wrote: "I always heard they were a cult of death worshippers. Nothing good can come of digging in them ruins. No fortune in gems is worth disturbing what's dead and buried." This is the rumor that Degan hears, and reports to the party. It sticks in his head due to, of course, his remarkable cowardice. "Yeah, I'm not sure it's worthwhile. Not for money, anyway. If for some noble cause Clancy feels that he needs to go... well, you might be a little better off for having me around, and I do owe you for saving my life."

Degan is pretty terrible defensively. His AC is 11 and he has 7 HP.
He will try to avoid combat as much as possible, and it's kind of fun playing him so cowardly because of his fragility, but taking the ring would at least give him a slightly better chance of surviving if he happens to get targeted. He certainly would want it in character.
Male Human Thief 3 | AC 11 | HP 7/7 | R +2 F +0 W +0 | Luck 12/12
1d4 ⇒ 4 !! Degan gains a monstrous 3 HP (after Stamina penalty), bringing his new maximum total to 7 HP. His Luck increases to 12 as per Gameplay.

Degan comes out from hiding, along with the two women he rescued. He does not quite seem to grasp Isteván's meaning.
After a moment he seems to get it. "Oh! Do you think such a wizard would care about things like gold and gems?
Degan is feeling curious and cautious more than greedy. He'll work on locks and traps where he is requested to.

If Mirinde has stopped the second cage from moving, then Degan will try to swing over to that one and open the lock as quickly as he can. Strength or Agility to Jump/Swing/Climb: 1d20 ⇒ 12

However, he really wishes that he could succeed here. Spending a bunch of Luck. 7 dice maybe? He was at 11/11. Luck: 7d4 ⇒ (1, 3, 1, 3, 1, 2, 4) = 15

How far is it horizontally from the wall to the cages? I get that the bottom of the cages is 10' up, but I wondering about trying to Parkour off the wall and up high enough to grab the bottom of a cage. If I can't do that, I will just jump for the cage. Degan hears the women screaming for help, and although he is mortal terror of the many enemies, he makes a heroic leap to save the Strength or Agility to jump up: 1d20 ⇒ 16

Degan is interested in the gold, but not that interested. He is somewhat concerned that it will come alive and bind him like it did the moon-devil. "I believe Isteván suggested having a rest. I don't know much about magic - do you need to rest, Mirinde? Or you, Clancy?
