I imagine most have marked this thread as inactive and have not seen your post. You’d be better off sending John a PM regarding the chronicle...although I imagine it would be quite a pain to sift through pages of posts in order to create/recreate the form.

I would be up for continuing but the others may have moved on to other games. The lack of my initial chronicle has prevented me from moving forward with Salim...however I may just start anew.

I still think using a digital means of data storage and transmission would be the better deal. When a table is reported on Paizo, the Chronicle Sheets get issued via e-mail to the players. That's what I want to see. Those that want to print them out can do so. Those that want to store the digital copy can do that as well and bring them with a device to access them.

While I love this idea I have zero faith that Paizo will be able to create and maintain such a system.

As a minimalist I like option 2 best but would prefer a much more simple ledger sheet similar to the one Cyrad posted in the first reply. Those who want to be more elaborate are welcome to do so but if can carry my PFS paperwork in something akin to an index card pouch I’d be thrilled.

If you own the deck I really don’t get what the big deal is...either scan and print your cards or photocopy them. Instant character sheet.

You as well! See you on the other side!

John....I think we may have ninja’d one another....my turn is above your post.

While we’re waiting for the offficial version we can always use this.

I think race decks (or ancestry decks to follow 2e nomenclature) would be a fun idea too...although some (is humans) are already well represented. I’m thinking that some decks could be devoted to a single race (who wouldn’t want a box full of lawn ornaments Gnomes), and one or two decks could support multiple rarely seen races (although it could be difficult to create a cohesive product from the latter.)

I was sort of waiting to see what everyone else was doing as far as tier advancement. Obviously the sort term gains would be a sooner acquisition of new feats but would advancing too soon lock me out of finishing the entire adventure path should the opportunity present itself?

Things I expect we won't see changed:

Global proficiency system
Level as a modifier to everything
Every class feature being a class feat
Non scaling spell's
Goblins as PCs
Alchemists in core.
The tone of legendary feats
The way martial attack powers (feats. Whatever you want to call them) are being designed.

Things I expect will be up for tweaking:
Amount of HP dished out per level
Individual feats and spells
Resonance
Critical success/failure system ( tweaked. Not overhauled).

I'd like to be wrong. But I am not very hopeful at this stage.

Agreed. The book has already been written and major changes based on player feedback just will not happen. Minor tweaks are expected since glitches will most likely be discovered once those of us well outside the Paizo bubble begin playtesting.

Between the success of the We Be Goblins line and the PFS Goblin race boom being one of the most asked about organized play rewards....Goblins as PCs is entirely our fault.

The shipping charge on the bundles perplexed me as well. It turned a really incredible deal into a “kind of OK, I guess” deal.

I'll take a peak at my cards when I get home from work in an hour or so...but for the sake of making things neat and orderly I have this for our current tally:

Ally B
Ally B
Armor 1
Blessing B
Blessing B
Item B
Item B
Spell B
Spell 1
Weapon B
Weapon C

So while I wasn’t a huge fan of the Samurai or the Ninja when they became playable classes in the RPG...what I’ve seen so far from the Ultimate Combat deck has won me over to the point where I’ve put in an order for it. Hayoto looks like he’ll be fun to play...so I guess now it’s just a matter of which class deck I’ll pair him with.

If I were to pretend that chronicle sheets do not exist and were tasked with building one from the ground up would consider the following information to be neccessary:

-Name of the scenario/module/adventure;
-Name and PFS # of the character that completed the above;
-What was earned for completing the above (gold, XP, prestige, boons & purchasable items.
-Date completed, name & PFS # of GM

Everything else (items purchased, total gold, total XP, total prestige, fame, etc) can be kept track of by the player on character and inventory tracking sheets.

@Salim:My apologies for not having the Graven Guardian of Nethys details available. Fortunately you seem to have found them.

(BTW, you mis-identified the skill in your check against the Acid Pool - it was actually an Intelligence check, not a Knowledge check. But the dice roll seems to match Intelligence, and was more than high enough, so no problems there.)

Well done on finding Blightwing, too.

And to both of you - congratulations on closing two locations!

I just re-checked the post...it was time stamped at 5:40am which means I had been awake for approximately 10 minutes prior to posting. I guess I'm lucky it was comprehensible at all! But yes..even though I called it a Knowledge check I still rolled it as an Intelligence check so all is well! 8-)

Salim picked up a Ring of Rejection as well. For my Power Feat I'm going to select "Add 1d4 to your non combat check against a bane."

My choice of card upgrades in order of preference (keeping in mind that I got my first choice last time so if I'll concede if there is any conflict): Item 1, Ally 1, Blessing B

That’s good to know...I wasn’t sure if the Finesse trait needed to be part of the bane/boon in order to be invoked. Still have a few things to learn...

While I like the idea of not wasting paper, I am against a digital-only solution.

The reality is that many games already never get reported online, or are reported incorrectly. Increasing the number of things that need to be reported will only make for more opportunities to get things wrong.

As a GM, I don’t need the extra burden of reporting detailed data, and dealing with players who dispute the online record. As a player, I don’t want my characters’ rewards to rely on the reporting accuracy of someone that I may never see again.

True...but I'm my opinion it is problematic that we are currently utilizing two systems of keeping track of things that don't work well with one another. While I'm sure that the online reporting provides useful marketing information for Paizo, as one half of the checks and balances system for organized play it fails miserably.

If I were charged to rebuild the reporting system from the ground up it would look like this:

1. Campaign Journals: A player would be responsible for keeping an accurate campaign journal for each of their characters. This could exist in paper or electronic form. (If you choose an electronic form and for some reason it malfunctions congratulations...you're playing a pregen!) The first few pages of the journal will contain your character sheet and inventory sheet. Instead of a single chronicle sheet for each scenario multiple scenarios will be reported on each page (look to the PACG tracking sheets for inspiration.)

2. GMs will be responsible for reporting their games online similar to the way they do now; but the data will be for Paizo alone to see. GMs will receive incentives for timely reporting. (Quarterly rewards based on a point system perhaps?)

3. Pregens would be available for each tier of play.

4. Do your shopping on your own time...just make sure your inventory record is accurate. (It is insulting to think that players need supervision to accomplish simple arithmatic.)

Much of this requires a heavy reliance on the honor system which I realize some people are going to be uncomfortable with; but in practice our current system relies just as heavily on self policing as any other one would.

Boosting my strengths as opposed to trying to round out the weaknesses. A solid plan. +1 to DEX it is!

Also unless someone more knowledgeable advises me otherwise my plan is to take a +1 to my Wisdom rolls as my skill feat. For me first card feat I intend to select a spell (most likely Cure) and the skill bonus will help with the recharge roll.

So, does anyone have any idea how playtesting is likely to work for PBP games? They seem to have a rather, well, rapid time frame in mind for the various levels of play they want to get feedback on. Is PBP feedback likely to be ready in time to be useful? Will we want to specifically recruit players who are up for a more rapid posting schedule? My one experience with a PBP that had a schedule associated with it did come down to the wire a bit at the end...
I think they said that part of what they will release for PFS playtesting would be similar to quests. Even at PbP speed, we ought to be able to complete one part of the quest in enough time to provide feedback in their time-frame.

Since we’ll be play testing the rules it would make sense to fast forward through the role play bits; that and an agreement to maintain a robust posting rate will help move the PbP along.

I thought I couldn’t start with it because it wasn’t listed on the back of my character card. The PACG guide specifically calls out the promo cards for the miniatures set but The Melted Blade is not one of them.

Yeah, the promos and cohorts do make things a bit murkier than ideal.

In this case, something having the Owner trait on it makes that card count as Basic for the specified owner. So, it's already in the deck and tagged as Owner, so when you choose cards you can consider it as Basic. For comparison, Erasmus was not able to start with Mavaro's Missing Eye since that's Owner: Mavaro.

Anyhow, no big deal either way; just wanted to let you know.

Must have missed this in the rules and/or guide...I admit it makes sense but in my experience you oftentimes need to check common sense at the door when it comes to rules for expandable games!

The Melted Blade was my motivation for picking a weapon as my top choice. I’ll swap out my rapier for it. Still considering what I’ll take for my skill feat.

Agreed....and since you're gracious enough to be the only one not getting their first pick I'll support you getting your top pick next round.

My preference would be:

Weapon B
Armor 1
Armor B
Ally 1
Blessing B
Ally B

I can’t use spells until I get my first card feat.

A couple of quick questions...with the exception of the letter "B" all of the additional cards in my class deck are numbered. (In other words I don't have an Ally or Weapon "C".) Does "C" fall between "B" and "1" or is "C" synonymous with "1"?

Also when choosing my Skill feat...is it better to improve a skill I'm already good at or buff up a medium or low skill?

I’m sure the notion of Goblins as a playable race is in response to the success of the We Be Goblins series and the number of times the “how to I get a goblin race boon” question has been asked on these forums.

Our current goblins are known as filthy cannon fodder that occasionally provide comic relief. These may not be the goblins of 2e.

Looking forward to testing the new system.

Re: Boon security...I think the only way to truly accomplish this would be to make them untradeable. This would probably be less popular than the alternative and still wouldn’t be foolproof...especially with boons earned via PbP.

If an item appears on a chronicle sheet it should either:

1. Be unique to the scenario (this could simply be flavorful...ala Silverhex)
2. Be available earlier than it would be otherwise (under the current system that would mean prior to earning the requisite amount of fame) or
3. Be cheaper that it would be otherwise. (again...Silverhex)

And as crazy as this may sound I would be in favor of a paperless campaign; although this would require accurate, reliable reporting and might rely more heavily on the honor system than some might be comfortable with.

Just in case it’s an option...I would love to sign up for a core table should multiple tables be offered. Regardless enjoy your games everyone,

Yikes...sorry I'm so late to the party. My RPG games were mustering so I figured it was a good idea to find my way to this table as well.

My experience with PACG is minimal...I cranked through the iOS version of the game and have played a bit of the Mummy's Mask intro adventures solo. Needless to say this is my first ACG PbP experience as well. (although I'm highly experienced at PbP on the RPG side of things.) Good news is I'm usually a quick learner.

I'm hoping to play Salim (the inquisitor) but I also have the cleric and ranger class decks if either of those would better suit the party (or if someone more experienced thinks that they may be easier for a first time player.) The best thing about the Inquisitor deck is that there doesn't appear to be any errata to worry about!

I’ll take it! Signed up on the Outpost sheet and dotted in-game.

Howdy....I'm happy to round out the party. I just had to double check to make sure I hadn't played this in Core yet. I just signed up on the Outpost sheet. I'll be building a cleric from scratch and should have him up within 24 hours.

I'll also happily back away should the fellow who was originally signed up comes around...and I should say that I may have played this before (in standard PFS) but it was at least a two years ago so I probably don't remember much!

Welcome Zartina...I’m sure we’ll have a lot of answers. With luck some of them will be right!

I have played Stolen Heir before in regular.

Thanks for reminding me to disclose this....I played this scenario in regular PFS. However it was more than 3 years ago so the chances of me remembering anything about it are very, very slim!

I have a second level bard I can bring to a core game. I can usually check in several times each day so the time difference shouldn’t be an issue...however if the majority of the other players are GM time zone friendly I’m happy to bow out so as not to potentially post out of sync with everyone else. (That’s happened to me before and I know how frustrating that can be for everyone.)

I've been on a bit of a PbP hiatus as of late but this could bring both me and my Inquisitor out of retirement. I recall how smoothly you ran the Siege of Diamond City so I'm confident that if anyone can do justice to the Seeker arc via PbP it's you.

STR: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 4) = 14
DEX: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 3) = 7
CON: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 5) = 14
INT: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 4) = 9
WIS: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 5) = 11
CHA: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 6) = 16

Clumsy yet charming.

I have a character that is registered as a core campaign character that has GM credit and play credit in only core games that is unable to recieve credit for a core game due to not being registered as a core character.

Anyone else having similar issues?

Another 12 to 18 inches of snow is falling on top of the 30+ inches we already had on the ground. Updates might be slow coming today but they will come! Working on the map right now!
