"Sweet Jesus our reality no longer exists and I still can't get away from you. What have I ever done to deserve such a fate that yeah no I probably deserve this. Dosn't mean I can't still complain about it though."

So weird indeed.

Inactive

Same with Hicklespurn actually, though I've decided to trade clockwork for Armor since I've decided to avoid making more constructs. Engineering is at +11 right now, but will be at +9 if I decide to take the trap finder trait. Probably shall.

Valda Simmons wrote:
Maybe a scaled down, non-combative variation of the Furnace Golem would do the job?

That does seem like something he'd build... but allas, don't think I should focus on making more constructs for this game. Limited money and time better spent on other magiks. Your suggestion sounds good too Rando, it'll certainly be awhile untill then though. But, at least we'll be based in the city at the start, so he can ask local smiths about using their forges.

It'd be this right here.

Inactive

Aww... Guess that's the end then. Suppose we were dawdling a bit to get to the end, sorry Rando. It should be noted that Dave more then likely beat the crap out of Agni during their reunion, and qould continue to try and hit him for weeks to come before his feelings of betrayl and abandonment mellowed.

I'll try to finish up Hicklespurn later on, puclrfhase gear and what not... Rando, is there anything resembling the portable smelter in the concept picture I used for him? I doubt I could afford one, but if it exists then perhaps he can build it again later on, with the assumption he lost his old one recently.

Inactive

Dave coughs lightly, turning towards the Pharaoh and speaking quieter. "This is going to take a moment. Ever have coffee before? I know a really nice mom and pop shop near here. 'Course, it's probably closed right now what with the perceived apocalypse everyone just went through."

Inactive

"Could always use the last request to make sure he fulfills our previous ones to our intent, not his interpretation of our words. Or something like that."

Inactive

Dave shakes his head, "No, my first request already forbids him and denizens of this plane from interfeering with our world ever again. There's no point in antagonizing our host."

Inactive

Dave looks at Pavel, then the others again. "Interesting, but that dosn't matter. Finalize those last two requests or I'll do it for you. Treating and restoring the people harmed by this event is a strong candidate, so why don't you work from there."

Inactive

"Be that as it may, Pharaoh, but as you already know I am a Lord and these people belong to my Royal Court. Wealth and power are things they possess in spades, and love is something earned rather then given. Besides," He says, taking a step back to observe his friends. "I've already made my wish."

Inactive

Hmm... I'' admit, I didn't actually know about the half wealth thing until you pointed it put. I'm not sure how that is, perhaps from not having really used the system? I suppose I'll see how it works out in that case, it should even out in a way.

Rando, regarding Background Skills, I'm curious as to what bit about them you're not quite sold on? As far as I know and am familiar, it just gives you 2 extra skillpoints which can be spent on skills classified as being "background". Well, that in two new skills, Lore and Artistry. Was there something more to it that you were reading?

Inactive

Sounds like a plan, Atlas.

Also, I was tempted to have Dave wish for Joey to be resurrected, but figured this would be better. Feel free to wish for things, whatever they might be!

Inactive

Dave sheaths his blade, and looks upon the Pharoh. He dosn't waist much time considering the prospect of something other then what he set out to do. He does however contemplate the r8ght way to word his request, before finally declaring it. "I wish for you to, upon complete our third wish, to return us and our land back to where we belong, after which you will leave this world alone forever after."

After making his wish, he steps back to allow the other four to decide how to split the last two.

Inactive

Wealth: 5d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 4, 1, 4) = 18, x10 is... 180. Righto. I'll get back to you later when he has things purchased.

I find it interesting you'd prefer APB over background skills, but I won't fight you on the matter. It'll just be a bit of skill fiddling...

Inactive

Just wanna comment to Valda's earlier mention, that I might take the Trap Finder feat instead of Inquisitive Archaeologist, in order to give us that boon. Hicklespurn, my gnome, would pretty much have that skill maxed as is so it might be worth it. K: Engineering would be down to only +9, and he wouldn't get to roll +8 on spotting hidden Ancient Osiri things.

Also, if push comes to shove, I might switch his construct, Shmick, to being a melee fighter. But I'll wait to see what's what first.

Rando, would it be possible to craft items obtained at the start beforehand? I know folk like to do that when they come in with magic items at some higher level, but I've never had the chance to do so at this level.

Inactive

How should we do health and initial wealth? W/health if you will.

Inactive

Right now, I'm pretty slated for becoming our group's crafter when we advanced to that point, and if we have enough time for me to make things. Currently, I suppose he's pretty defent at being the party face. I took inquisitive Archaeologist, and have a staggering +11 there. Why? Because why not.

Hmm... for combat rolls, where do people stand so far? I plan on my gnome and his construct being ranged. Crossbows ror now, guns for later.

Inactive

"Hey, I take offenze at that. I'm very clearly a higher being, so speak for yourselves."

Inactive

Dave get's pretty burnt up, but Maria's quick to heal the worst of it. He turns slightly and gives a light nod, before turning back to the Pharoh and attacking again. His first two strikes are more shaky then before, but has last one as he spins about certainly hits true.

Attack 1: 1d20 + 10 + 5 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 10 + 5 + 2 + 2 = 24
Base Damage: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Cold Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 1) = 3
Sneak: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 6, 3) = 15

Attack 2, Haste: 1d20 + 10 + 5 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 10 + 5 + 2 + 2 = 24
Base Damage: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Cold Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 3) = 6
Sneak: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 6, 3) = 15

Attack 3, Ki: 1d20 + 10 + 5 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 10 + 5 + 2 + 2 = 34
Base Damage: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Cold Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 2) = 3
Sneak: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 4, 2) = 9

Inactive

I only have 2 damage, same as Valda, but 5hings might change when Rando goes... Ahem, I at the momment reccomend a different spell and save your healing. Very nice roll on it though.

Inactive

Awesome! With her being as young as she is, no doubt he'd never have seen her prior, but I look forward to playing the part of an old family freind.

Inactive

I'll wait for Pavel to go before me, it's cool.

Dave twisted out of the way as it became clearer who the Pharaoh was starting to focus on. It seems his continued success on his secondary attacks have been doing a lot to keep him out of harms way, and now Pavel seems to have made things even better. He adjusts himself to be in flank with one of the various hounds. "One could start to think you didn't like me. If you didn't like me before, then you're really not goign to like this."

Many attacks:

Attack 1: 1d20 + 10 + 5 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 10 + 5 + 2 + 2 = 28
Base Damage: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Cold Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 6) = 7
Sneak Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 6, 2) = 14

Attack 2, haste: 1d20 + 10 + 5 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 10 + 5 + 2 + 2 = 24
Base Damage: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Cold Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 2) = 3
Sneak Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 5, 2) = 14

Attack 3, Ki: 1d20 + 10 + 5 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 10 + 5 + 2 + 2 = 22
Base Damage: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Cold Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 5) = 7
Sneak Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 3, 1) = 15

Low rolls, but Dave's got some hella bonuses right now... Lemme know if that last one misses or not, since defensive spin.

Oh, naw naw, he'd merely be a church-goer. One of the longest, in fact... I've finally nailed down his backstory after Pavel provided the most recent date of Aleknstar's founding. He's one of the original inhabitants, having followed Alkenstar out into the wastes. He founded a small workshop in skyside which eventially grew into a four story hobled toguther tower of brass and steel, occupied almost soley by his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

The patriarch vanished out into the wastes twenty years ago following the death of his wife, who succumbed to the bleaching, after leaving the worktowershop to his family. He didn't tell anyone where he was going, because in truth he didn't know himself. But, eventually, he found himself in Osirian in pursuit of ancient mysteries...

"What is it with you people and dogs today?" Dave asked absently, as yet another of the canine beings cropped into existence.

Inactive

Hah, I could believe it.

Inactive

>Insert grumble speech of a non-fan

But I will say, that is a nife design. Quite good and cute.

Yep, I'm a fan of the setting too, but I've never been terribly great at uh... reading all the required material. Remind me to talk to you later on discord about what an old timer like my guy would know.

Anyhow, a preist of Brigh? It's still certainly possible then that he'd know of him if they attended the same church!

Inactive

Keep me posted mate, and I'll adjust his age if it becomes necessary.

Inactive

Dave, still in the spin of his last attack, expertly dodges out of the way while he observes the summoned creature get brutally ravaged. Now flanked with the efreeti however, he makes to try and take advantage of his brutality. Again, he makes his first strike before spinning around for a seccond.

Attack: 1d20 + 10 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 10 + 5 = 25
Base Damage: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
cold damage: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 1) = 3
Sneak: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 4, 6) = 16

Ki attack: 1d20 + 10 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 10 + 5 = 29
Base Damage: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
cold damage: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 5) = 8
Sneak: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 2, 3) = 12

Inactive

For serious? Wow, talk about a ballpark range. Anywhere trom three thousand to a few hundred years ago.

Inactive

It is, actually, from my own cursary glance. Seems to be a few thousand years old in fact if you'd believe! Though I'm more surprized rhat after three thousand years, they havn't managed to acomplish more...

Ahem; I imagine it was around twenty or so years ago that he decided to give in to his gnomish nature and start his wanderings. Her father seems old enough that he could've been a freind of his and he might thusly recognize the name.

"Oh? Hah, I never imagine that he'd be the type to settle down? How is he these days, still sporting that Isenstein model 4000XR is he? Always was one for the classics!"

And in regards to Pavel's sugesstion, I'd find the prospect of us all having been from the wastes to be pretty interesting!

Inactive

Funny, I'm hoping to get guns too, but I can't afford it just yet. Later on I think I'll get the gunsmith feat to start producing things. If were gestalted, I'm pretty sure I'd be a gunslinger, but that's neither here nor there.

So, another Alenstarite? Thats awesome! My gnome hasn't been there for awhile, he's almost two centuries. But, it is possible he could know of her family, or for to have heard of him.

Inactive

Maria, you still have your turn propper!

Good question. No, quite the opposite. Make your 15 point buy character normally for your race and assume those stats represent him/her as they are now, regardless of age.

Ah, perfect! I'd wanted him to be fairly old in order to match the reference picture, but I was worried about losing combat capability.

Inactive

He's a gnome, things just distracted him along the way. This would be first time he's ventured into danger willingly however, but he decided he needed a bit more excitement in his life.

Question, will you be enforcing aging penalties and bonuses durring initial character generation?

Inactive

36 on my first attack, 34 to confirm.
4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 3, 5) = 19 Cold damage
28 Damage total

22 on seccond attack
2d6 ⇒ (2, 3) = 5
7 Damage total

75 total damage from me...

Inactive

Reflex: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
Half, and four AP spent to reduce that to just two damage.

Feint, Bluff: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (19) + 13 = 32
The fire barely seems to affect Dave as moves towards the genie with purpose. In a flash the dagger is in hand as he slashes at the genie! "Haven't gotten a chance to use this thing yet. Might as well christian it like this, right?"

NOTE: All rolls here are made as if the dagger was non-magical Rando, apply bonuses wherever appropriate.

Attack, Dispatchment: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 10 + 2 = 31
Confirm: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 10 + 2 = 29
Base damage: 2d4 + 10 ⇒ (3, 1) + 10 = 14
Sneak: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 5, 5) = 17

As soon as his first attack ends, he twists around the pharaoh as he goes for another!
Ki for extra attack, +4 AC from defensive spin if it lands
Attack, Dispatchment: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 10 + 2 = 17
Base Damage: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Sneak: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 4, 2) = 11

Being sick aint fun, and it's even worse when it's your pet. Just hope you're taking care of yourselves.

Also, I'm totaly down with linking some stories. My gnomish guy is from Alkenstar towards the south. He's travveled for many years before eventually finding his way to Osiron after hearing tales of it's ancient architecture.

He also frequently rides on his construct's shoulders and uses a cloak to make it seem like he's very tall. ;p

Inactive

Dave looked over towards Izzy, "You know dude, I'm the lord here. If anyone get's to accept on behalf of all men, it's totally me. And yeah Valda, on behalf of all woman is your duty." He turns to the Pharoh."As the esteemed wizard Most High and Lit has said, completely out of turn if I'll be honest, we accept this challenge."

Unlike the other three, he does not reach for a weapon just yet. But even then, he still seems ready for the battle ahead.
Iniative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

Inactive

Dave takes a look around at his friends and companions, and notices that Pavel might have something to say about this guy, before giving his attention back to the Pharaoh. "I'll be honest, I didn't actually expect to be getting anything other then a fight by coming here to see you in person. But at least we'll be pleasant about it. Do you want to fight right here in this room, or did you have somewhere specific in mind."

Inactive

He glances at Izzy and Valda long enough to recognize their lack of insight on this being, before turning his attention back to the phaor in full. "If I may, your lordship, I'd like to first discuss what it is you require. Why would your kind desire our city to have been brought here? The usurpers claimed that this plane needed it as if it were kindling. But I'm curious as to if there are other, more involved reasons."

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19

Inactive

I had indicated that Dave was making it seem like he had no weapons on his person, as per normal, but I'll roll that for you right now.

SoH: Wakizashi: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (1) + 15 = 16
Action Dice bonus: 1d6 ⇒ 5
SoH: Dagger: 1d20 + 15 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 15 + 2 = 28

Inactive

Dave steps up to a distance which seems tolerable and acceptable, and he makes no indication of even wearing weapons. He starts introducing himself and the others. His companions all seem to notice how exagerated his movemsnts are, almost as he's trying to tell them something.

"I bring you greetings from my city of Arzata. These are my companions; High Wizard Snoop of Hounds, Valda the Weapons Mistress, The Secretive Man who Shan't be Named, and Senorita Maria of Frightful Fortunes. I understand it's been some time since beings such as yourselves have made themselves known to my world, so I'll do my race the honor of bringing you welcome. The leaders of my nation would greet eachother with a shaking of hands to prove their peaceful intent, but I'm afraid I'd much rather avoid heavy burns. Simply know that my intent is not to cause you harm."

He glances at his companions from the corner of his eye, hopeful that they can display a similar amount of subtlety.

Bluff, Cantor DC: 20: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (12) + 13 = 25
Secret Message: "Izzy, Valda, Pavel, Maria, one of you tell me what this a+*&*@! is, how dangerous he is, and how to kill him. And make sure not to tip him off."

Inactive

Anyone else want to tack on some additional aids to Valda's roll?

Also, what do people think about coming up with a way we'll all know each other's characters for Mummy's Mask?

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Inactive

Dave bows in a somewhat regal manner, "My Weapons Mistress is correct. As I had informed the men standing guard outside, I am Lord Dave, and I am in control of my city's Shadoworld. As such, I am most displeased with the knowledge that some saw fit to usurp my control by bringing the city to this plane. We are prepared to forge dealings anew."

He silently thanks modern media for providing him with stuff like GOT so he could fake being royalty. 'Let's just hope this doesn't end up as messy for us as it does for them.' From under his sunglasses, he tries to measure the distance between him and the large elemental, as well as make a headcount of the various threats.

Diplo aid: 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (7) + 7 - 1 = 13
Enough for a +2 to Valda's roll.

Inactive

Yeah, sure thing man.

Inactive

Interesting stuff, Val- Or should I refer to you as Jon? -I'm interested in giving that system a go. It all sounds fairly interesting just from your brief description. Does it include traditional spells too, I assume?

Also, in case you didn't notice Rando, I'm also in support of the Automatic Bonus Progression stuff. If I'd have to give any sort of good reasoning behind it, it'd be to encourage players to be more creative with magic item purchases! Pretty much the first things people will buy are either ability enhancers, cloaks of resistance, or giving their armor and weapons some +1s. ABP would grant those effects and allow for more versatility in purchases.

Oh, and, er, what did you think of the class I linked? Is it fine for you?

Inactive

I think paizo glitched, it says valda posted, but I can't see her post.

Also, nope. Not surprised in the least.

Inactive

Dave rolls his eyes, one of the mnany benefits of wearing sunglasses at all times. He gives a slow regal nod, "Well said, High Wizard Snoop of Hounds." He follows along in short order, gesturing Pavel to follow along.

Inactive

Rando: "I may have made a mistake."

Inactive

Gotta love that Desna, she's always been my fav goddess. Also, I support ABP too.

For characters... I've always wanted to play something in particular, but it's been hard comming up with a good way to replicate it.This, basically.

There are a few ways it could be done, but one of the easiest I'd seen was a third party class known as the Vanguard, which was somewhat of a... mechanical summoner? That, or maybe simply a consruct rider alchemist.

Vanguard
Construct Rider

Edit: Ah, I see I'm not the only one asking for Rando to review a 3pp class. ;P
