The next days the guards spot unusual gnoll activity around Kelmarane. They mostly stay in hiding, and don't enter town. But a trek or two report of partly successful attempts of robbery. When Dashki arrives in town to buy some alcohol again, an interrogation under the influence of free booze reveals that "Those gnolls know that something valuable went missing from the house of the beast and are searching for it, or the humans that took it. They didn't tell what it was though."


Dashki has no horse, but he is used to walking. And in the mountains a horse isn't really faster than an man. And as long as the nice woman has moonshine for the breaks, Dashki has the motivation to jog along.


Dashki is flattered. "Of course Dashki show you the way.". One hopes he remembers when he is sober again.


"House of Beast is lair of Carrion King." Dashki clarifies. The rest of the fancy talk he has already forgotten as the elf comes to an end - the moonshine and Dashki's simple mind doing their work.


"Dashki don't know any priest."


"Dashki out of moonshine." Dahski replies to Antarah, lifting his mug to him and emptying it again.

"Three Jaws tribe are all in the same place. Haven't moved anywhere for "banner". And there be no gnoll war without Three Jaws. Three Jaws are bravest and strongest of all gnolls!"


"That's stupid b&+#@#&+." Dashki objects. "Gnolls be where they always be."


Dashki isn't really comfortable to get a tour, but he warms to the offer of free drinks. "Dashki live in the mountains. Too many people in Kelmarane now."


Within the ten days Aithaloessa busies herself with working the magic, a familiar face reappears in Kelmarane to buy some more booze.


"How would Dashki know. Dashki never be worth it." He downs another mug and then falls off his chair, knocked out by the strong booze.


"They go there to house of Carrion King. And if Carrion King like them they come back big and strong. Carrion King do magic?" Dashki shrugs and downs the mug again.


Dashki empties the cup into his throat. "Dashki not seen House of Carrion King. Gnolls not talk about houses. Only talk about becoming strong gnolls."


"You have problem Dashki can not solve. It not matters what Dashki suggests."


"Dashki not care where humans go to get killed. You say Carrion King plan war. You not believing Dashki. Why ask other gnoll? Gnoll not talk to humans. You not believe gnoll anyway."


"Why humans not go ask Carrion King? He know. He tell humans, before gut humans." Dashki becomes annoyed by that talk which goes in circles.


"Who this Zayifid who tells lies?" Dashki inquires.


"If Carrion King says go to war, Three Jaw tribe go to war. Nothing humans can do about that. But Carrion King did not say go to war."

The only aura about Dashki is of the olfactory kind. And this aura is strong.


Dashki loses interest in staring down Ohrmizd and turns to Omari. "Dashki not know what going on in other tribes. But Three Jaws not preparing for war. And Three Jaws are proud warriors. Three jaws being first in war!"


"That is lies! Gnolls not go to war." Dashki objects starting a staring contest with Ohrmizd.

"Humans not staying in village?" Dashki inquires.


"Dashki not know how Carrion King make gnolls strong."

"Gnolls not do trade. Gnolls send Dashki to see humans stay in village and not come for mountains."


"Carrion King is big boss. He strongest gnoll ever. He make gnolls extra strong." Dashki tells and gestures the dimensions of those extra strong gnolls which seems to be impressive.

"Dashki never seen Carrion King. But Carrion King knows everything. You better not get on bad side of Carrion King. All want be strong gnolls. All do what Carrion King says." Daski tells the things that are obvious to him.

His bar tab lists an impressive amount of liquor, but due to the nature of the establishment and the kind of alcohol Dashki usually consumes it sums up to 112 silver including the collection of bottles he intends to take away this time.


"You pay Dashki bar tab - Dashki talk." Dashki states.

"Dashki is with Dashki." the grumpy man replies. "Almah hiring again?"


As all stand on the bridge next morning Dashki comes walking along the river and towards the bridge.


Dashki stand around awkwardly. "Dashki go back to princess." he mutters and leaves.


Around the corner at the northern door comes Dashki and cuts the wounded gnoll down.

Dashki keeps shooting gnolls. Even though it tends not to help.
And like a blind squirrel that finds an acorn once in a while, Dashki drops a gnoll.

Dashki takes another try at shooting a gnoll. After another arrow goes wide he considers just leaving.

Dashki runs to the entrance of the quarters area, only to find everything clouded in fog.


Dashki keeps shooting. But his aim is still off.

Dashki is not interested in fighting that many gnolls up close. But he hates them and joins the fight from afar.

"Check for no crocodile. Then all river is good." Daski replies.


Dashki shrugs.


As Ohrmizd emerges from the basement he only finds Dashki standing in the room guarding the secret entrance, as told by Manuun.

"What?" he inquires.


"Food delivery." Dashki chuckles as he walks by.


"Hyena be pets. Dangerous pets. And tribe has chief. And strong warriors." Dashki replies. Hierarchy seems not to be a word either gnolls or Dashki use.


"Gnolls not see humans as person. Humans be slaves or food or things to play with. Like cat with mouse. Gnoll always in group. Never alone. Gnoll bring hyena." Dashki explains.


"They far away."


"They in Kelmarane. Kelmarane is fo rprincess. Kullids tribe not nice. Killing humans for fun."

"You go find defenses."


"Yes. Tribe in Kelmarane is Kulldis tribe. There is other tribe in mountains. Need not care about. But Kullids tribe is bad. And many." Dashki tells.


Dashki frowns at Ohrmizd, but puts his knife away.


Dashki is still sitting in the shrine to Vardishal - that he claimed as his room - and is busy scraping the gold off the mural.
