The young officer quickly explains how he could use some walls to help with the defense and in funneling assaults into killing zones. "Any help you can give would be appreciated." You do notice his squad consists of 20 soldier and they are in charge of two of those earthen mounds. It's an area of 50 yards. You can also see several soldiers recuperating from wounds, "We've been probed twice so far. it's a healthy distance between defensive rounds that we have to cover but we are up for it."
The squad leader waves the party through. "Good...good to have the help." As you enter past mound you can see several mounds created like speed bumps to funnel an attack. It's not the ideal fortification but it does show some ingenuity. "We can use any help you can offer." He nods. "Mayor Featherton can be found organizing in his map shop. The Slywink is across the street and Jenar is still serving her spiced ale." He looks at Lt. Loreman, "welcome." He doesn't seem to recognize her.
To your great surprise as you get within 150 feet of the outer perimeter your small group is confronted by a volley of arrows that fall 7 feet short of hitting their target. You realize that the miss was on purpose. "HALT!!! STATE YER PURPOSE" shouts a strong voice from behind a mound of earth.
"Ok, slow it down and start explaining. What is potlach and what does it do?" He glares, "Degasi?" He frowns.
"Well, I don't exactly like when you flay them but it's understandable considering the circumstances and time constraints."
The cleric barely holds a straight face.
"Drovik what information do you want to know?"
"To Whom does she report? He glances at Drovic and his instruments of death in order to emphasize the point. "We do make strange partners."
"Kreed...where is Kreed?" he pauses then continues, "Why does Kreed want to blackmail the People's Council to send the Eagle Knights in order to make way for the Lumber Consortium."
Dashel stops his aggressive advancement and removes the pyrite disc from his pack. He carefully unwraps it, "What is this? Where was it found? What is the purpose? For starters." He shows the object to Ryma.
"The truth! The cleric projects, "One way or the other we will get truthful answers to ALL of our questions."
I've always enjoyed your games DM Carbide and I know everyone has been busy over the last couple months. Life happens. Do you think we should get this game to a final resolution?
Dashel motions for the others to hurry a long as he heads towards gavel's office. "Be ready, I suspect this will get ugly."
'Let's get going and be done." The cleric suddenly seems a bit impatient. Subconsciously he seeks comfort from a holy symbol hanging around his neck.
Once Drovic provides the recon, "How do you want to proceed? We could head directly to the gavel's office, or neutralize the associates first." he looks to the two companions. "I think we need to go straight and hard at the gavel's office, this will conserve our resources rather than fighting the mooks."
"Good sir, blessings to you and your family, I'm seeking some guidance and information."
Dashel just waits for the two more versed in the locality to provide their insight.
Dashel looks at Drovic than Sethran and shrugs. "Or we could track down Kreed." He laughs.
I'm still fighting off a nasty cold. I'll get back to posting by Sunday.
I'm pretty sick, I don't think I'll be posting much today.
The cleric cringes at the thought of Drovic "break" in and he scratches his chin. Although not lawful he does has a respect for the law. "Well, I need to go church, there are a several Iomedean places of worship here." He nods towards one of within view. 'I could gather some information from the local clergy, perhaps a parishioner or two." He smiles wryly, "I suppose you could have peek." He looks over to Sethran, "What are you thoughts?"
"Well, lets get marching and to the bottom of this one."
Dashel shrugs, "I can tell you about the abyss, Hades, the shadow plane, atral plane, Ethereal Plane, and countless outer planes, but I'm directionally challenged when it come to the local areas and lore."
"Do you think there's much more to do here Drovic? If not, we can go investigate this Theriver Kreed--she was the gavel in Elasomere - and we should investigate this Elasomere region." He looks at the newcomer, "Does how does that sound? And you are right things are never that easy for us...ever.
Anything in there about a Theriver Kreed's or Elasomere?"
"Much appreciated." The cleric whispers back.
Dashel asks Sethran as they leave the compound what he makes of the situation. "Anything seem odd to you?" he pauses, "Drovic should find us quick enough once we get to the treeline."
After his question and the curt answer the cleric simply shrugs it off as a misunderstanding. "Well then good day."
The a customary polite blessing Dashel says his good byes to the Director. Best if I find Drovic and compare notes. As the Director is about to exit the door, "Sir, one more question," A pause. "Where was this piece discovered?"
Dashel examines the pyrite disc, careful with his touch, then after a few moments of contemplation smiles. "Thank you...this will be all. Do you mind if my comrades and I refill out waterskin and perhaps a little wine and bread for the journey back?" The cleric naturally asks.
"I saw the one in the museum it was strange but I just can't put my finger on it though. Why do you think it's weird?"
The clerics upper lips twitches. Where's the assassin when I need him?
"The Church' he emphasizes the phrase, "would be thankful if I could examine those remaining pieces." He doesn't answer the question directly.
"Well, yes, you are quite perceptive this is a bit more than friendly church house call. I believe we have mutual acquaintance, Ms. Regere, and she suggested that I should look you up. See, I'm looking into some rare artifacts and she had a piece that piqued my interest at the museum." He pauses, "the church has an interest in a golden material, I believe it's called iron pyrite." he looks at the reactions, "Are you familiar with such material?"
Dashel de Penderwon a faithful disciple of Iomedea." He pauses a second to let the introduction sink in. "Our journey was uneventful and we," he motions to his comrades, "appreciate your generous hospitality."
Dashel will stand, motioning to the others to follow, as he follows the well dressed gentleman.
I've been swamped lately. It should start to get better next week
Dashel will sip on his watered wine as he waits.
Before entering Dashel casts heroism on himself. Since he is trying to persuade the house, he'll also cast moment of greatness hold hold this spell until needed. His allies benefit form the moment of greatness spell.

Each creature affected by this spell is given the potential for greater success and glory. If the affected creature is benefiting from a morale bonus of any type, it can double that morale bonus on one roll or check, before making the roll. Once an affected creature uses this spell’s effect, the spell is discharged for that subject.
Dashel listens to Drovic then adds. "Perhaps you need a bit of a diversion. I mean, I am holy man, I could seek a night of refuge in the compound, it's not everyday that someone of the Church of Iomedae comes visiting. It would be terrible manners and quite unfortunate to turn me away." He turns to the others in the party, "Of course, I would have traveling companions. While we seek proper introductions and keep those inside busy, Drovic you could enter, using your..." he wiggles his fingers, "...more subtle tactics."
He'd probably try to slice my throat if I pulled out my light casting long sword anyway. "Drovic, I assume this is deed you are accustomed in performing. Breaking in to rich fellas house and seeing if he has left you any gifts." Dashel keeps a deadpan face. Oh look there a third story window is open a clear invitation.
I'm waiting for someone to propose a way to talk to Garland Rakesclaw (or break into his house...). I've had computer issues so my posting was cut down for couple weeks. It should be back to normal now.
Dashel follows along, trying not to be too obvious, since he is clearly out of his element with the planning and perpetrating the break in. Best leave it up to Drovic, he's clearly experienced with this type of crime.
The cleric smiles and lets Arianna and Drovic finish the business. When it's concluded Dashel states, "It looks like we are going to look for Garland Rakesclaw. Interesting surname...Rakesclaw."
I'm having computer issues, so my posting will be a bit sparse.
Subtle, he is not.
"My pleasure Ms. Regere." He waits for Ferqyr to depart the room. "So how long have you worked with the councilwoman." Making idle small talk. He puts a finger to his lips, "Yes, Arianna Regere, I saw a piece of art that you donated to the Blakros Museum. It was a jagged fragment of golden material, apparently a piece of a disc. It was a curiosity to say the least, I didn't quite know what I was looking at."
Dashel reaches out and takes the parchment from the employer. "Excellent, we'll be off now." He turns to the others, "time to complete the mission, it's local at least, so it shouldn't be too hard or deadly." he chuckles out loud.
Dashel nods and puts the tithes in his belt pouch. "Yes, the mission. I'll stop by the church before we embark on the mission." He assures the others. Then he places his hands together with his forefingers in a steeple. "Is there anything else that we need to know about Ms. Regere or councilwoman, Jostlin Ferqyr?"
