![]() I will be publishing small bestiaries and other custom options via Patreon shortly and wondering what else others might want as third party content. I am guessing classes aren't that important right now, but things like planets, settlements, starships, might be something interesting to add. In short, what custom content do people want to help them run their Starfinder campaigns? ![]()
![]() Welcome to GM Demonmoose “Lords of Rust” Recruiting. This is the second adventure path in the Iron Gods' Numerian setting, with super science, barbarians and robots. Looking for a few members to fill campaign slots. Character Requirements:
Please apply with a Level 4 character, 20 pt buy, 2 traits or 3 traits with flaw, any Paizo races and classes. Also please apply with a character you would like to roleplay, as roleplay > optimization. You may have 6000 gp to spend. If your character is from Numeria, or has the Technologist feat, you may purchase 1-2 technological items. If you are from Torch, please do not be an adopted child/student of Khonnir Baine (you may instead be related/connected to some other denizen of Torch). Please post crunch, bio and desired role. No need to post crunch or bio if from my previous games with returning characters. Returning players may post new characters, if they’d like to try something new. For a more enjoyable experience you should participate in Exploration (looking around, making decisions, knowledge, etc.) Combat(ranged, melee, knowledge rolls, strategy, etc.) and Role Playing (talking, thoughts, emotions, diplomacy, voting, deciding on a course of action or path, interacting with your party members, etc.).
Posting:
Please try to post at least once a day, more is preferable. I tend to post from night time US until morning (this is due to being in another country at the moment) and several times. Recruitment Time and Game Start:
Recruitment ends January 1, 2014. Games will begin sooner if the current campaigns are ready. Book 2, Lords of Rust, should last until the end of March-April, though this approximation is likely to change. Please post if you have questions. ![]()
![]() You’re not quite sure how things have escalated so quickly. One minute you’ve decided to do something about Torch’s problems, the next you are surrounded by like-minded individuals, people of all types: adventurers who have heard of the town’s plight, or townsfolk themselves, and have formed a group at the Town Hall. Wooden desks, wooden floors and a banner of the town's purple flame are what you see. In front of you is Dolga Freddert, a dwarven aristocrat, one of the five councilors of Torch. It’s been a few days since all the trouble started. She looks at all of you, assessing you with sharp eyes while stroking the adamantine warhammer on her lap, and snorts. With a loud voice she announces to the crowd, "Well, well, well. What have we here? Another group of adventurers to try their luck at fixing our town. If it were up to me, I’d go solve the problem myself, but," she looks at all the empty desks beside hers, "everyone is either missing or unavailable, leaving me to do all the leading." "The main thing, of course, is to find Khonnir Baine and bring him back alive. There’s 4000 gp in it for you. If you can also rekindle the flame, well, I’ll throw in another 4000 gp. Any questions?" ![]()

![]() GM Demonmoose New to PBPs and forum posting. Recruiting five players for Pathfinder campaign Iron Gods. Standard Adventure Path characters: 20 pt buy, any Paizo classes, races, archetypes and prestige paths. I will adjust encounters based on what everyone selects to preserve some level of challenge. Fairly casual PBP as I am still getting used to the system. Any advice from knowledgeable PBP players and GMs is welcome. Looking to complete at least the first book "Fires of Creation." ![]()
![]() I confused myself thinking about it, but when would you make a saving throw for a spell? Let's use Bestow Curse as an example (Since that's the one I used on my players). A monster used bestow curse on a player, and that player makes a saving throw to negate it, which fails. Afterwards, does that player make a saving throw on his turn to remove it, or is the curse only removable with a remove curse spell (or maybe with the creature's death?)? Does a saving throw - negate mean the same as curing? ![]()
![]() One of my players, a level 3 alchemist, believes that he gets bonus spells i.e. level 2 spells, because Table: Ability Modifiers and Bonus Spells says he gets them. I know that he only gets access to level 2 spells when he reaches level 4 but I don't have any definitive rule that is not countered by some other phrasing he has found, nor have i found anything that explicitly says he can't use it. It's important for him because he uses these quotes and they can greatly affect his playstyle. Some rules that he uses to argue are:
However, I've found this on the FAQ: "Bonus Spells from a High Ability Score: Can I use these even if my spellcasting class level isn't high enough to give me access to those spell levels?
For example, a 1st-level wizard with 18 Intelligence has (according to table 1–3: Ability Modifiers and Bonus Spells) 1 bonus spell at spell levels 1, 2, and 3. However, he can only use the 1st-level bonus spell because as a 1st-level wizard he only has access to 1st-level spells (his class-based number of 2nd- and 3rd-level spells per day are "—", meaning "no access to spells of this level"). As soon as he becomes a 3rd-level wizard, he gains access to his 2nd-level spell slots and can use that bonus 2nd-level spell slot from his high Intelligence, and likewise for 3rd-level spells and bonus spells at wizard level 5. Basically, ignore the columns for higher-level spells on table 1–3: Ability Modifiers and Bonus Spells until your class grants you access to those spell levels. —Sean K Reynolds, 07/21/11" He argued that the bonus applies after the -. We're both a newer player and gm to Pathfinder, and he will accept my ruling--but it'll seem to him like i'm house-ruling, which is not what I want. Is there any rule that I can show him that will help show he can only use level 1 spells? Or is he actually able to cast these spells because he is an alchemist and they follow different rules? |
