I'm looking for some suggestions on the best board games to own. I would consider myself approaching the status of mid-level gamer :)

Games I've played or own:

Pathfinder (Pencil and paper, not the card game)
Catan
Axis & Allies
Munchkin (Yay for Munchkin!)
Robo-Rally
Bloodbowl
3 Dragon Ante
Mage Knight/Hero Clix (a little)
Plus the universal ones: Monopoly, Risk, Stratego, etc.

Games I am thinking about buying next:

Dominion
Battlestar Galactica, board game
Mage-Knight, board game
Arkham Horror
Game of Thrones, board game

I generally play with groups of around 4. There are many times when there will be 5 or 6 of us and I'd like to have everyone get to play at the same time.

I figure this is the perfect place to gain some insight into what game to buy next. Thanks in advance for your help and suggestions!

3 people marked this as a favorite.

I think it'd be neat to have a place to mention all the funny/random things that have happened in the campaign. Whether it is from a terrible/awesome roll, or just something the characters did in combat or roleplayed.

My group is all brand new players, currently level 4 in Thistletop. They make their way down to the bottom level and into the room with the projection of Karzoug. No one speaks Thassilonian so they examine the room looking for a switch. This goes on for quite some time before they realize the messaeg is just repeating.

After a while of frustrated searching one of the players realizes the image seems to be giving a speech to an audience. The player says, "My character begins clapping." He says it as though he had solved a riddle and then begins clapping in real life at the table. The other players look at him for a moment before joining in the applause until they were all clapping loudly.

The image of their characters standing in a dungeon clapping at a spectral image while my friends were actually clapping in real life had me doubled over in laughter.

I understand that generally a random scroll or wand is supposed to be made at the minimum caster level allowed, but for items in the adventure path (scroll of flaming sphere cl 5th in the catacombs, etc) how does this work?

Does the fact that the text says CL 5th (in this example) increase any of the effects of the spell (duration, save DC, damage)?

Thanks for the help! I am a first time GM and very new at working with magic.

I'm sure this has been discussed before but I can't find an answer anywhere:

When PCs find new armor and weapons what is the best way to roleplay the properties and stats of those items? Is there a way to get across the idea that this "+1 masterwork longsword" will do more damage without saying, "...You found a +1 masterwork longsword". What are some good ways to deal with this?

So I was wondering if there are any rules regarding how a mount must move during combat. Here's the scenario:

One of the players in my campaign has a T Rex as a mount. He is a cavalier and charges all the time. My question is whether or not the dinosaur has to take time to turn around once he has ended around. Can he just do an instant 180 turn like a normal character or are there rules that govern movement kind of like when a character. Is flying? I hppe this question makes sense. Thanks for your help.
