Yeah, I'm gonna go ahead and just withdraw from this. Not enough activity to keep me involved.

Dorian follows the others, with a loaded sling in one hand.

"If you insist," Dorian relents. He goes with the others to follow the bear, urging them to keep a wide distance between them should flight become necessary.

"Didn't the Chieftain mention a bear god back in the village? Seems dangerous to me," Dorian comments.

Dorian does the same. "No need to fight them if they move on."

Yeah, basically.

Alright, we're in D8 right? Lets head to E7 and explore then D6 and explore, etc. Heading north in a zig zag line until we run out of half our food or find something interesting.

Can you link us back to our thread?

Dorian blinks, confused why the chief had completely ignored his question, but then answered it when it was repeated by the elf, Mogwag. Perhaps he is prejudiced against my kind. Dorian thinks, getting up to follow Gustav out.

Once outside he turns to Gustav. "Well, shall we head back the way we came and do some more thorough exploration, then head north?"

OOC test?

Ah. Seems they fixed OOC, yay!

Still waiting for an answer to my question. OOC tag is broken or this would be blue.

"What do you use for currency, and how might we most expediently earn some?" Dorian suddenly interjects, addressing the chieftain.

Dorian appears to be lost in a fit of examination. He's looking intently at everything and everyone that he hasn't seen before, studying it thoroughly before moving on to the next object or person. He's so engrossed that he doesn't appear to be listening (but he is).

Dorian goes in and stands quietly in the back, observing the happenings without interfering. He offers a brief bow of acknowledgement to the other team. If the king looks to him he will also bow, this time from the waist and say, "I am Dorian."

Giant:
"Certainly, please lead the way, sir."

[b]"He says the others are here talking to their king. He wants us to follow him."

Yes.

G9-G7-F6-E7. No exploring. That's where the village is right?

"Do you fellows want to continue on in this direction, we might be able to swing around the south end of the fjord without descending back into the valley. It will take a few days, but we would in theory eventually reach the village on the other side."

"I am physically incapable of such frivolous emotional expressions."

"Just performing my function, Mr. Verhu. It appears we have discovered a way of egress after all. Hurrah." Dorian says in a completely flat monotone. "That is what one says at times like this, correct?"

Dorian nods to Gustav, and pulls a vial from his belt. The circuit tattoos on his hand glow as he charges it with energy before throwing it at the swarm.

Bomb (PBS): 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 23 REadying to throw it once they are within 30' to activate PBS.
Fire Damage: 1d6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 1 = 8

Take 10 on knowledge nature for an 18, What kind of squeaking?

"Be careful," Dorian advises, also moving into the room. He avoids the pools of water, in case anything hungry is resting in them. He makes his way to the eastern tunnel and looks down it.

"Yes," Dorian says simply, before offering his own weight to the bar.

Str check to assist: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19

1 person marked this as a favorite.

"No, Mr. Stonesoul, ursine mammals are not known to construct masonry," Dorian says flatly, before stepping up to the door and examining it closely and thoroughly.

Take 20 on perception on the door, for a 26. Takes 2 minutes per 5' square.

If it's not trapped, Dorian will check if it's locked. If it's locked, he will attempt to pick it.

Disable Device: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

Edit:Bah! With that roll he'll probably need to take 20 on the disable device check too.

Dorian continues down the tunnel after the others.

"Preferably not fond of it at all."

"Please lead the way Mr. Stonesoul," Dorian says, motioning to the passsage. "We may have just discovered our way up."

The animals are all medium right? They should be able to follow.

"I would venture to say that my vision exceeds even your own Mr. Stonesoul. I will accompany you as backup," Dorian says. He pulls out his sling and follows Trelck at a 15' interval.

"Oooh, a cairn. Exploring this passage might teach us something about this inhabitants of this land. What do you all think?"

Okay, that's much more clear now. Lets explore F8 completely first, and then climb into E7. The group is moving at 20' a round.

"There may be an easier way up the cliff than climbing. We should explore the area before attempting the climb."

"That is an acceptable course of action," Dorian says, falling in behind the others.

So we explore E7 and D8, and then head into D9?

Am I wrong, or is the Fjord "wall" a cliff that surrounds the entire Fjord region? In other words, it's like at the edges of the white hexes on our current map? Also, if you upload your map image as a drawing rather than a document you can draw on it.

Rereading my last post it sounds kind of dickish. Sorry, that wasn't my intent. The map's great, I just don't know where the wall and town are in relation to us. If that could please be made more clear, that would be great. Thank you.

You don't have to create a recruitment thread. Just go to the campaign tab as the GM and click create a new campaign (or whatever the exact wording is), then you can attach separate discussion threads to the two team's gameplay threads. I would also suggest a link back to the campaign info tab of this original campaign in the campaign info tab of each of the new campaigns.

"Let's go," Dorian says, walking off in the opposite direction from the other group.

Can you draw the "wall" on the map, I don't understand where it is. Can you also mark the town on the map? Finally, can you link the exploration map under your profile's name, by putting the link in the gender line of your DMing alias? Thanks.

Once the map is more comprehensible I can chart us a course. Suggestions on route are gladly heard.

I'm happy to serve that function for team Almanac if the others are cool with it. I've done it before in other games, but I prefer to treat it mostly like a democracy.

I honestly prefer the seconded system where as long as two people suggest something and there are no opposing votes within a certain time period the GM goes with that.

I suppose we can do the cliche thing and go to the village, in case there's some guy with like a yellow exclamation point over his head or something.

Are we using the actual exploration rules from Ultimate Campaign or what? I'd say our group should just start by exploring the entire Fjord region going E7-D8-D10. If they are forest regions that would take us 9 days (because dwarves are teh slow).

Dorian takes the stogie gingerly with the tips of two fingers, rotating it to get a thorough examination. "Interesting, broad, dried leaves rolled together..." He puts the cigar to his lips like a child slobbering on a kazoo, and takes a few experimental puffs. The smoke begins streaming from both ears and his nostrils as he exhales. He licks the roof of his mouth, then shakes his head as the nicotine buzz hits him. "Oof. This is a method of drug administration. I understand now. Thank you Mr. Craw. Here you are," he says handing the cigar back to the gunslinger. "The flavor is not unpleasant, but the drug within might negatively affect my performance. I will not partake further."

Dorian regards Mr. Craw and Mr. Stonesoul queerly, watching them closely as they smoke. After a few moments of observation, he asks "Is there a reason to inhale the byproduct of the combustion of dried plant matter? Surely the heat alone must wreak havoc on your mucus membranes?"

It's no secret that Dorian's a synthetic being, William. If you ask him, he'll tell you "I am a DR 10 N series biomechanical construct."

"Race did not enter into my analysis beyond the inherit abilities granted to an individual by their parentage," Dorian replies to Trelck, tilting his head to one side and quirking an eyebrow.

I know I need to eat and drink, and never claimed otherwise.

I do not need to sleep however for the reasons you stated.

I would guess that you are referring to James Jacobs, and that he said they need to sleep in reference to recovering spells. I'm fine with having to "rest" to recover my extract slots. But the physical act of sleeping is pointless for Dorian.

Makes sense. You should probably take the skinny dwarf for some muscle and a guide and the elf for some healing and magical support. I'll take the Brawnier Dwarf along with the Tinkerer over there because I am NOT healing everyone. Oh, and Tattoos, you sound like you know stuff so you can tag along.

"Your suggestion for our team's makeup is acceptable. If the others are agreeable, we should begin our egress immediately. There is much to be done in the days ahead."

Curious when Tik'klik goes downstairs, Dorian follows and watches as he works on himself. He comments, "Perhaps not repairs so much as upgrades. I don't think it will harm anyone other than in self defense. It doesn't seem like this unit was designed for war, which would be the only logical reason for it to attack another person." Once the repairs are finished he returns to the deck with the other and asks Trelk and Gustav, "Well, are you two amenable to forming a team with Mr. Scotts and myself?"

What I was saying earlier about two groups sharing one timeline is this...

I did it before in one of my games and eventually it caused a disaster. The two groups had different posting rates so time was passing for them at different speeds relative to RL. One group ended up like two weeks in the future of the other group in game time, at the same time in RL after the game had been going for several months. That wouldn't have been a problem except for when they both decided to delve the same ruin. The faster group got there first IRL, but the slower group got there first in game time. So I had to put the faster group on hold for a month+ of real time while the slower group did their thing with the ruin. Otherwise, I wouldn't have known the state of the ruin for the future group. I ended up losing a bunch of players because of it and combining the remains of the two groups into one 8 man group.

So yeah, be wary with the time thing.

"Fascinating, another constructed being," Dorian says, approaching to examine Tik'Klik. "Its design is entirely different from my own. It is unfortunate that it does not speak. I would love to learn what it knows about itself. If it knows anything, that is." Dorian moves around the wooden golem in his smooth precise manner, examining it from all angles. He then retrieves the note from the crate and reads it in detail. When he gets to the part about being frozen solid he thinks, That appears to be the only similarity between us. It is doubtful that this construct was made by the same people that made me.

Turning back to the others he says, "It would likely be prudent to make myself and this other construct the nucleus of each expedition team. Our ability to go without sleep, and resistance to the effects of the environment would provide each team with a permanent lookout. Beyond that particular ability, I am also programmed to be function as a hunter, tracker, and alchemist. Furthermore, I am designed for ranged combat using explosives as well as conventional weapons. I have databanks pertaining to natural as well as magical phenomenon. I would prefer to be paired with a melee combatant and a divine spell caster, with little preference for my fourth companion."

I like Dorian's team, lot's of healing and versatility. The interaction between Dorian and what I read as a traditional dwarf and freedom loving Will can be interesting. Remember guys, Will is a city slicker so this should be hilarious. Will there be merchants in this land (kinda like Olaf in Kingmaker?) Dorian, I have to ask, is your character based off of the show Almost Human?

The name is definitely stolen from that show, but the rest of the character isn't really like Dorian. More like the MXs in that show.

Greetings fellow lifeforms.

Thanks for the pick. Just based off class (without reading sheets yet), this is what party I would prefer.

Trelck Stonesoul (Fighter)

William Scotts (Inquisitor)

Gustav Verhu (Cleric)

Me

Here's what I've got so far. There are surprisingly few male avatars with intricate blue tattoos. I'll only post with this alias once, in case I need to reuse it if I don't get picked. In the future I'll link to it. I'll finish the rest of the character after work tonight.
