1 person marked this as a favorite.

I'm definitely interested to see how this playtest will change the game. One of the reasons I migrated away from Pathfinder was the incredible amount of product that was being released and the ability of players to create munchkin characters. I know that both of these issues can be mitigated by a good GM, but I got tired of trying to placate whiny players trying to create uber characters and I wanted less complexity in my game system of choice.

I moved to Denver about a month ago and have finally settled in, so I would like to find a gaming group. If anyone knows of a group or could point me in the direction of a place where I could find one, I would much appreciate it. I am in my thirties, so non-teen and non-college student groups would be best.

Thanks,
Zach

Did you ever find a group to game with? If not, let me know and I'll tell you a little bit about my game.

Just trying to gauge interest level in a possible Rise of the Rune Lords campaign I would like to run sometime in the near future (October maybe?). I was thinking of having game every other Friday evening (that way, people can still have every other weekend to party, or do whatever else they want to do with their time).

I don't want to go into too much detail here, but if you're interested drop me an email at: ahkliat13@hotmail.com With "Rune" in the subject line and I'll provide the particulars.

Thanks for your interest,

JS

Wow! Those look like really cool dice! -Unless I'm completely missing something, there's no freaking way I'm shelling out that kind of cash for a set of dice!

Dark Archive

I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but how about changing the wording of the condition of "Invisible" to something like "Imperceptable" ?

Dark Archive

The Gray Maiden has my vote :)

Dark Archive

Yeah, I'm missing some sessions as well. Hopefully this issue be resolved before long.

Sounds like someone was a grumpy-pants. There's useful criticism, and then there's people being unprofessional and b@$%$y.

Your linework is a little rough, and sometimes the eyes look a little creepy (too big, perhaps? I can't put my finger on it. They almost look like real eyes peeking out from behind holes cut in a portrait in a Scooby-Doo sketch, if that makes any sense at all...), but with pictures like Lord Theomen, I can see some Hugo Solis-potential. Keep polishing the stuff, and maybe work on your own interpretations of some genre-specific 'classic' images, like one of the Iconics, or that Hellknight picture, or some beastie, and I think you've got what it takes to step it up.

Your proportions are good, and you don't pose people unnaturally, which automatically puts you a step above some other amateur artists who *do* get published in 3PP.

The perspective on Kazura's spellcasting hand is particularly neat. By comic book/fantasy-art standards, she's got sausage fingers, but fantasy art is almost always a *bit* unrealistic, anyway, drawing women's fingers as tapering from the hand to the nail, even when the artist isn't Rob-Liefield-levels-of-clueless about female anatomy.

Thanks for the critique! I'll keep your suggestions in mind. Ha ha, I know what you mean about Liefield levels of cluelessness about anatomy!

That's a great observation about Kazura's hands btw, and I'm proud that there's some "sausageness" to them because Kazura is a halfling (she's got stunty toes too!)-just the look I was going for :)

I'll keep drawing, and as you aptly pointed out, my line work is pretty rough, but then again that section of the website is meant to show the rough stuff- my problem has been, and continues to be ink and color (and it doesn't help that I'm colorblind either!), and I want to aim for more "completed" pieces.

Link to some samples, so that we can make an informed choice to whether we like you not to draw our art requests!

Major love for the Rock & Rule quote in the profile, btw.

The reason for the aforementioned statement was due to the fact a 3rd party publisher (who shall remain un-named) told me I would be better served by taking up brain surgery and leave the art to those with talent. I realize that not everyone is going to care for my scratchings, but it gets tiring hearing it time and again.

I can't wait for these minis! They look a lot better than the DDM minis and I'm willing to pay a little extra for quality pre-painted miniatures.

I like his artwork as well. Hope to see more of his work in the future.

I like it. Will you be finishing on paper, or do you do digital afterward? I'm curious about the methods of my fellow-artists.

I really like your sketch. I'm almost done with my submission -being that I'm colorblind, my coloring skillz leave much to be desired.

I do think it ought to be aimed at younger gamers and new gamers to introduce them to RPing and Pathfiner RPG: grow the game.

I agree with Mairkurion in that the Pathfinder Intro Game should be aimed at younger players. I was at a convention in Denver recently and noticed the surprising lack of younger players - mainly older guys like myself seated around Pathfinder Society Tables. We definitely need to "Grow the Game".

I just bought my copy of Hero Lab, and so far I'm pretty satified with it. The only issue I'm having with the program (and it's not a major issue at that), is my printed character sheet lists some of my weapons and attacks on one sheet, and some on the following sheet. Again, not a major problem. I just need to play with program some more :)

+1 This was the first thing I thought of as well.

Also add me to the list of fans of the podcast. Great stuff!

Seconded, and thirded!

Yes and no. The blog is full of art. But there is not gallery. You have to just go threw all the blog archives to find all the art.
This is mostly true. However, using blog tags can make the task simpler. For instance, one can find all of our blog art for wallpapers, or all our pictures of a type of monster, or all our art by a particular artist.

Thanks for the info!

This may have come up someplace else on these messageboards, but I was wondering if there is a section of the Paizo website dedicated to art and downloadable wallpapers? I was noticing that another website (that shall remain nameless), had free wallpapers and art to download. I love the art associated with all the Pathfinder products and was hoping to see some wallpaper for download.

Cymex, why not link to your gallery (if you have your own page or a page over at Deviantart) from your profile? Artists here get a lot of traffic that way.

If you need any help with the HTML just ask.

While I do have a page on DA, I'm not sure how to do the linky stuff to my page :(

I'm really glad that they've started posting when the PDFs will become available. I will definitely buy the print product as well, but it helps me to know (roughly) when things will be available for sale (so I can budget for them).

D&D 4e is a fine game and I play it from time to time, but it doesn't have the same feeling for me that previous editions of D&D, or the new Pathfinder materials have. Thanks Paizo for keeping the game I love alive.

Dark Archive

I've made the mistake in the past of allowing my players to play some of the more exotic races (drow, orcs, tiefling, etc.). I found that the inclusion of these races really did unbalance my game in ways i didn't think were possible, and created a whole slew of headaches for me as GM. Oh well, live and learn.

Dark Archive

I purchased my copy today and haven't noticed any problems with the binding. I plan on using the book extensively, so I hope the book doesn't immediately fall apart from heavy use.

Dark Archive

Can't wait for this!

Dark Archive

I work an overnight shift, but I knew that I had to get my grubby mitts on a print copy of Revenge of the Kobold King -even though it meant having to wait for my FLGS to open two hours after I normally go to sleep. It was well worth the wait -I got some cool swag at the Free RPG Day, met some cool people, and now I can continue the saga of the Kobold King!

Dark Archive

I'm definitely throwing in with Cheliax.

I don't know if this question has come up yet, but I would like to know where in Golarion is the city of Absalom located?

Dark Archive

So, I just read on another website that warlocks are definitely going to be in 4e. I don't know how others feel about this choice, but I for one can't stand it, and I'm dismayed about the decision to include what I believe to be a broken class (i.e., the warlock's ability to use eldritch blast).

Dark Archive

Another question occurs to me. Does being a charter subscriber allow one to access to pdf versions of various print products? (i.e., Pathfinder products).
