Since Juliare is the only one to have said anything and she's got all she requested, I'm going to assume that the list passes muster and consider it official. I'll let Juliare's player know as well as Felicia's and I'll put the goodies on Clark's page in case he gets to come back someday.

I think we can consider this thread to be done, folks!

OK , I'm offended . I know Juliare is an half-elf and some consider half elves effiminate but he is a man !!!!

Just joking :)
Great work , Aingvar !

Ah, d***! I KNEW THAT!! I specifically made a point on a previous post of getting the pronoun right, but I knew a girl with a very similar name and keep slipping. My sincere apologies -- even though you jest. I do try to get things like that right.

Excellent.

If this is acceptable to everyone, I will let Felicia know what she's gained. I don't know if her player is monitoring this thread anymore.

Your proposal sounds great. But what does "proceeds from selling of extra equipment mean"? Is it one sixth of 146 gp?

So if I gotthis right Petra will get two potions + 250 gp + one sixth of 146 gp?

Close. The 146 refers to the bandit's "half-share" as an NPC.

Petra would get what I listed for Petra:

Clark Freeman wrote:
Petra receives two CLW potions and 250 gp reward money and proceeds from selling of extra equipment.

Perhaps my grammar was off. It's 250 gp consisting of Petra's share of the reward money and her share of the money received for items that we sold (masterwork rapier, heavy crossbow, light crossbow, etc. -- stuff no one indicated an interest in)

I was trying to get an answer on the boards quickly and didn't want to spend an hour formatting it nicely -- it was already way past this paladin's bedtime. ;-)

I hope this is clearer.

Patience, patience. RL kept me off the boards all day.

Here's my proposal:

The bandit is sent on his way with items to sell amounting to 146 gp, 3 sp (unless he can negotiate better, of course)

Thrakhir similarly receives items to sell and a share of the reward money worth 275 gp, and a CLW potion.

Juliare receives the bow and 150 gp from reward money and proceeds from selling of extra equipment.

Kirwyn receives 225 gp worth of jewelry and 75 gp from the reward money.

Petra receives two CLW potions and 250 gp reward money and proceeds from selling of extra equipment.

Felicia receives the masterwork lyre, potion of cat's grace (you were correct, I had the price wrong), a potion of CLW, and 75 gp from the reward money.

Clark receives the masterwork short sword and 145 gp from reward money and proceeds from selling of extra equipment.

Is that acceptable to everyone? 300 gp per member, 146 and change for the bandit's half share.

Zark wrote:

Petra has an interest in one or two CLW potion.

What is the 750 gp potion (375 resale)?
I want to get Petra ready to the other game so I hope we can settle accounts as soon as possible.

I figured there are four CLW potions and four characters that cannot provide healing on their own, so it made sense to divvy the healing to those four - Clark and Petra would not benefit.

The high-dollar potion was a Potion of Cat's Grace. Perhaps you could take it and trade it for a Potion of Cure Moderate Wounds, if the cleric at the temple were willing. DM's call, of course. That would be your entire take from the loot, however.

I will propose a split sometime later today and let people vote on it. The more vocal people will probably get what they want -- so poor Thrakir will get all the unwanted material, at this rate.

Juliare wrote:
I'm always surprised when people want to divide loot equally at the end of an adventure. I am more used to items going to the one who will be more useful to the group in the next adventure. Juliare will certainly insist that we finish with the next part of the adventure before each one goes his way and to wait until then to divide the loot. Till then each should carry the items which are more useful to them "

Yeah, I hear you there. But since are looking at a very real ending to the story, I figured this might be time to settle accounts.

That said, I would definitely rather put the items that people can use in their hands. I hate selling good stuff. You indicated an interest in the bow. Is anyone else interested in any of the weapons? I think the masterwork shortsword might be good for the dwarven rogue, but he's not here to yea or nay.

Felicia Leadium wrote:
Felicia would be okay with him just getting half of her share (since she didn't really show up till about half way through)

No need - you're in, so you're in!

OK, wrapping up so everyone has what they should have as they move on to the new game (or not)...

Including the reward, the take on the Green Tree Bandits looks like this, summarized:

  • 225 gp in jewelry
  • 533 gp in cash
  • 120 gp in goods (the wine)
  • 1535 gp in weapons
  • 100 gp in tools (masterwork lyre)
  • 950 gp in potions
for a total of 3463 gp or 577+ per party member. Accounting for half-price resale, the share comes closer to 334 gp each.

I've heard interest in the bow and some of the jewelry. Clark, for one, isn't terribly interested in any of the items except for resale, which would of course be for half.

We have four characters that cannot cast provide healing and four CLW potions, so I propose they get those potions. (Resale 25 gp each)

We have four significant weapons, either masterwork swords or the mighty bow. (Resale roughly 150 gp each)

Divvying up cash, goods, and jewelry evenly is roughly 146 gp each.

The big item not mentioned yet is the 750 gp potion (375 resale) that would be someone's whole share unless we sell it.

Any thoughts one way or another? Want more detail? Or just to sell it all and take the shares in cash?

Felicia nods intently Whilst simultaneously writing down all that Clark has said in her notepad. I would like to see some stuffy stuck up bureaucrat try and have you all kicked out then."

"Oh, ah, um. Juliare may be the only one left that could tell you the specifics leading up to the whole scenario at the temple. Petra and I were inside and they rescued me with the others... The wizard and dwarf joined up there, too... I'm not sure anyone else from the original heroes is still traveling with us, actually."

    Felicia Leadium wrote:

Felicia will wait till the sheriff is out of earshot before asking "Temple business? What temple business?"

Before we leave the guard captain, Clark would like to know the proper action to take with the goods retrieved. If they need to be returned, does he know who the rightful owners would be?

"There was a ... misunderstanding ... at one of the temples here in the city. They were capturing itinerant folk and shipping them off to parts unknown. They felt this practice should continue. Some of our allies felt it should stop. Since Petra and I were some of the "itinerant" folk, you can safely assume that our allies' view prevailed.

"However, the temple apparently had friends in high places. Rather than being heralded as heroes, our friends were labeled undesirable and told to leave the city, never to return. The truth of what they had done was known to too many people to just arrest them for it, I imagine, so the best they could do was run us out of town.

"Of course, I'm not a politically-minded man, so I might be misunderstanding what really happened. This is just what I understand from listening to the others."

No bragging on Clark's part. If asked, he will just say that they've done what they could to make the roads in the area a bit safer for now.

The kegs of ale are marked with the sign of a local merchant, so maybe you should return those. The wine is very fine and each of the two cases is worth 60 gp. Also after some rummaging Felicia finds a masterwork lyre tucked away in the mess.

Don't know how that would affect your calculations.

Not a concern - it's all in a spreadsheet, so it's easy to modify as necessary.

"It appears that someone might be wanting some of these items back. I propose we make an effort to return items before we start making claims on any of it." To Fell, "Excepting, of course, items belonging to you and yours - I'm not comfortable handing you back your sword at this particular time."

He's welcome to his freedom, but I have no idea what half a share is going to look like without some number crunching. I'll take a look, though.

OK, assuming a gallon of ale equals a keg and a case of wine equals 12 bottles of same, I get a total value for the goods of approximately 3000 gp.

Here's where I get into trouble - I'm not sure how many are in the party. Felicia, Juliare, Kirwen, Petra, Thrakhir, Clark. Is that everyone?

Well, if I missed anyone, they haven't spoken up in a while -- I was back past May and didn't see anyone I'd missed. So... Six-and-a-half shares? Taking into account resale pricing for weapons and armor and normal pricing for goods such as wine and ale, I see a total resale value around 1740 and a per-member share of 267 and change. The bandit-turned-ally would be eligible for 133.5

Here's an thought - does any of this need to be returned to the city so it can be distributed to the original owners? And wasn't there something about a reward? Perhaps we should give the bandit some pieces and haul the rest to the guard.

"Thrakhir, Juliare, I'm sure you have an idea what to do with a surrendered criminal."

Clark will move among the fallen, looking for any that are still alive. Those that he finds will get a single point of healing (to stop the bleeding) and dragged over to the center of the camp. Those that are dead will get dragged together, but out of sight of their fellows. Once that's done, he will see to his companions' wounds if Petra has not tended to them already. Lastly, he will use any remaining healing on his own wounds.

    -----------------------------------------------

The dwarf has a nasty grin at Clark's words and says, "I might, at that. On yer knees!" If Fell isn't quick enough about it, he kicks him in the back of the knees to drop him before getting in his face. "There, that's better. We'll be needing to return your ill-gotten booty to the proper authorities when we turn your flea-bitten carcass over. We can search for it and tell them how you refused to be of any assistance or you can make it easy for us and we'll tell them how helpful you were once you'd seen the error of your ways. Seeing the dwarven rogue heading into the brush, Clark pursues to provide aid. His movement's also 20 ft., for purposes of determining whether he can get there or not.

Seeing that Petra is moving toward the fallen bard, Clark seeks out another target. Does Clark know where to find either of the remaining two bandits? Assuming he saw Fell fire at Felicia, he would probably be his first choice for pursuit, but he's not fast...

    ------------------

On the other hand, Thrakhir knows exactly where Fell has run off to and pursues unless the bard is an easier target. "He went that way!" is provided as a clue to any allies seeking out the leader and "Their chanter is over here!" if the bard's location can be discerned.

    Perception 1d20+5=16

Clark: Says a silent prayer before turning the mage, "Thanks for the assist, big man!"

Is Petra where she can tend to Felicia easily? If not, Clark will run to the bard and lay on hands. (Getting to use all my paladin abilities this fight!) Will hold off announcing an action so Petra can post, but if the delay's too long, assume Clark ministers to Felicia.

    --------------------------
Thrakhir smiles to himself, hefts one of his throwing axes, and lets fly at the oblivious leader. I didn't count any extra bonus from being unseen - I think it's a +2, as though I was invisible to the target.

Throwing axe attack 1d20+5=11, damage 1d6+2=8, sneak attack 1d6=1

Oops, I forgot to include the bardic music bonus on that attack, too, so I think it's a 14 to hit and 9 damage before sneak attack.

Following the throw, the rogue will run toward the leader, stopping behind cover if at all possible.

Sweet! Just trying to keep the paladin's conscience clear, you know.

Did my Detect Evil pick up anything on the dwarf?

    If the dwarf is evil:

Clark draws divine power to himself and attempts to channel it into his foe. Smite Evil, of course

If the dwarf is not evil:

Clark turns his attention to the aggressive dwarf and attacks.

1d20+6=11, 1d8+3=7 Smite Evil will make this a 14 to hit and a 9 damage; Clark's AC will also become 20 vs evil creatures' attacks for this round.

    --------------------

Thrakhir, realizing his erstwhile targets have turned tail and fled, begins to search for either the bard or the thus-far unseen leader.

Another move action to get into better position and an action to look around the camp for the threats.

    Perception 1d20+5=8 Bleah!

Clark steps 10' toward the oncoming dwarf and concentrates Detect Evil on his foe.

Stated loud enough for the bandits to hear:

"We have been sent by the city to apprehend your leaders. They have misled you, caused you to hurt innocent people. We only seek to bring them to justice. The courts cannot fault us if some of the gang escapes."

    Bluff 1d20+7=26

    ----------

Meanwhile, Thrakhir curses at being hit by the stray arrow. He steps back into the bushes, only to hustle around the side of the camp to come up behind one of the archers.

Double move around the "south" of the camp, please. Couldn't find a profile for the PC, so I used the bonus from an earlier post:

    Stealth 1d20+8=24

What's the relative positions of the archers and the axe-wielding dwarf? Are they all roughly in a line facing us?

Without a word, Clark lowers his shoulder and charges at the man, shield leading and sword swinging around at the last moment.

    Longsword attack 1d20+7=20, damage 1d8+2=7

Hey, that's respectable, especially for my hapless paladin. His AC will be 15 for this round, however. Anybody going to play our rogue and/or sorcerer?

Rats! I was hoping I would be OK if I kept my distance, but that roll was terrible!

    1d20+1=18

Clark's first intended action is to steamroll that fellow.

    Hide 1d20-5=-1, Move Silently 1d20-5=12

Clark attempts to sneak to a hiding place about 40' from the guard (within 60', but as soon as he can see the guard -- preferably with a charge lane, if necessary)

I didn't have the patience to name all the squares in the map, so I just made it like a chessboard with numbers vertical and letters horizontally. I hope that's OK. Do we need letters on both right and left side or it sufficient to have them only one the left side?. I'm just starting to learn how to use Photoshop and I'm not that "computer savvy" ;-)

Well, Clark's not the quiet sort, so he won't be too close until battle's joined, I think. Perhaps a sneakier or less armored someone could get close and start the party.

I see no reason for letters on both sides of the map, myself.

Excellent. I propose that the rest of us array ourselves in preparation of attacking the hapless gent in the lower right corner, then. With an eye for providing backup if a certain ranger has to beat a hasty retreat.

Yes, Zark, thank you very much.

Clark mulls over the ranger's words. "I'm not a cold-blooded killer, sorry, regardless of what they've done. Or supposedly have done. But I won't stay my hand from attacking, so don't worry about that."

"It appears that my idea is of little merit -- there are at least three guards. It would appear that we have two strong options before us, depending on our desired outcome. This guard lower right on Zark's splendid map is all that prevents us from taking the fight directly to the leaders if we can take him quietly. That would probably mean that we would be fighting the entire bandit camp shortly thereafter unless we could take them out very quickly.

"This guard toward the top of the map is the most isolated and possibly more vulnerable than the other two, so he might be more easily taken out quietly."

Do you think the others would fight if the leader was defeated? Are their tents set aside or is there some other way we can tell which ones belong to them?" He looks up at his companions after a long look toward the earlier ambush. "I'm loathe to kill more than we have to. If we can remove the threat by beheading the snake, I'm in favor of it."

I don't think Clark's got enough experience to ask - can someone investigate what sort of spells Garland prefers so we can prepare agaisnt them? Maybe whether he's a bookmage or a bloodmage would help, too.

On his turn, Clark moves to be between the attackers and the rest of the group as best he can, readying his shield and sword as he goes.
