Well, sorry guys. Thought I was gonna be able to do this, but don't have the time anymore. I had to give up my Council of Thieves game I'm running also. Maybe at another time I'll be able to. Thanks again for the interest and hope to see you again if I actually have the time to start one.

I figure you probably want some kind of official ruling, but yes, it would be a trait from the apg that relates to your adopted race.

EDIT: I knew someone was typing an answer at the same time as me, ninja Ogre.

I'd like to express interest for a WoD game. But how can you hate Mage? Mage is 100% awesome!

Any concepts brewing that you would like to play?

Here is the profile I made for a character in another game (Thanks Seeker of S&L). Maybe I could modify him a bit, if you think he'd fit into what you have in mind for the game.

EDIT: I swear I did a background for him somewhere. I'll have to search for it, but basically grew up on a reservation...studied under his great grandfather...got older and rebelled; Drugs/alcohol...ended up doing some hard time...had a way with animals...got a job working for a Veterinarian in Kentucky, also doing farm work...fell in love with the bosses daughter...world ended etc. I'll look it up and post it when I find it, if this background works. If not give me a few clues and I'll come up with something.

Could you possibly change him to be from an Oklahoma reservation and be in Dallas getting away from the bosses.daughter dilemma? I think he would work great.

Tarlane wrote:

Just to say that I haven't forgotten or slipped off, I have the stats part of my character pretty much ready to go and am now just trying to flesh out the background and history behind him.

My current idea was that he was a professional burglar, skilled enough to have made a decent living for himself but never having been top of his game or anything. He went for what he thought would be a big score and came across something that terrified him and had him leave his old life behind. Since then he swears he sees signs of things everywhere but isn't sure if he's paranoid, really being followed, or if they've always been there and he just didn't know it.

I took unseen sense with vampires to represent that last thing, but if something else makes more sense for what you have in mind, then that works for me.

Here are the stats I have prepared below, it was a very long day at work so I'll finish filling them out tomorrow.

** spoiler omitted **...

Looks good Tarlane, no reason why you shouldn't be in Dallas.

Aww that sucks. Thanks, and from what I've seen around here, you would have been a nice addition also. Thanks for the interest and input.

How would someone that works for the government as an intelligence analyst fit into your game?

I am thinking of a person that there day job is reviewing briefing articles submitted by various groups and then drawing up scenarios and recommending policy choices.

Possibly a specialist with a particular region or culture working for the BIR (Bureau of Intelligence and Reserch) or DIA (Defense Intelligence Agency).

I pulled the idea looking in my copy of Conspiracy X of people that might be plugged into wider things or ideas.

The DIA sounds good. We can say you were sent to Dallas to gather intelligence, among other things, because of the terrorist bombing attempt on the Fountain Plaza office tower in downtown Dallas. You could be reviewing briefing articles submitted by the FBI.

Ok, it's more lack of knowing than hate. If I read it more I'd probably like it.

Been stuck at home watching my daughter the past few days, so haven't had a lot of computer time. Hope to have the discussion thread up some time today though.

SAS stands for Storytelling Adventure System.

I am going to go with city based campaign.

Have your character be from wherever works for you and I will make up a way to get them where I want. Most likely Dallas.

I'm going to open a discussion thread tomorrow so we can get down to business.

Haven't got to look at him very closely scranford, but the concept is cool.

Modern day, I would say exactly what you said above. If you want to add something in your background for plot hooks or what has drawn you into realizing what lies in the shadows, that's fine.

If any of you want to create a character, you can use this TEMPLATE and paste it into your profile.

-Follow the standard character creation guidelines and I will most likely reward some extra stuff due to background.
- PC's background, history and family very in depth.
- Skills in weaponry need to be defined in background.

I know there isn't much info story wise, but I think it would be very easy to bring everyone together no matter the background. Let me know if you would like some more info and I will try to flesh it out.

I used to play a lot of Vampire & Werewolf, great days!

Haven't even looked at the new stuff - people starting off as mortals kinda wierds me out - how is the NWOD? I romantically like the idea, just NFI about the game mechanics these days :p

Still a d10 system, but they simplified combat. I've played oWoD and I must say it confused the crap out of me :) I think it is an easy system to learn also.

I was initially intending this to be more open play for the PC's. I didn't really want to stick to a strict path. I kinda dig Scranford's #3 up there and am brainstorming a little with that.

I have no problem at all moving into a supernatural setting later in play, but I really want to start out as "normal" humans and work our way into the shadows. If it ends up that the PC's form an agency to rid the world of supernaturals, that's cool too.

Smerg wrote:
Is this going to be a Hunters game then or are you planning to have people start as undeclared with them 'developing' their supernatural template at a later point in the game story after some sort of introduction?

@ Smerg: Undeclared at first. I have all the books, but honestly haven't read many of them other than Vampire and the WoD books. I don't really care for Mage though.

As far as the SAS module goes, you will have less room to play with your overall character than in an open game. Specifically, the Ruins of Ur game assumes you are either military or something similar.

Plissken wrote:
Would this be play by post or using some chat program?

It would be a PbP on these boards.

I think it would be easier to go on with less people using this system though.

I am throwing around the idea of running a SAS from White Wolf. Possibly the Ruins of Ur, sounds fun and action packed.

seekerofshadowlight wrote:
I might be interested as well. I do like the system but would like more info. Also I will warn ya player replacement might be a bit hard.

What would you like to know Seeker? If it dies from difficult player replacement, then that is what was meant to happen :) As long as we say we tried.

Me too Scranford.

Also wanted to add that I'm open to some campaign suggestions and such.

This will be my first nWoD game as storyteller and want it to be enjoyable.

I was thinking of running a nWoD game and wanted to see how much interest I could rustle up.

I'm not sure about a lot of stuff in the campaign yet, so it may be awhile before it gets off the ground.

Some definite points are:
- Mortals to start, maybe go supernatural later
- PC's background, history and family very in depth.
- Skills in weaponry need to be defined in background.
- Most likely based in a city I know, i.e. Dallas, Austin or maybe somewhere in California.

Well, that's all I can think of for now. Thanks in advance for the interest.

I think that may have been the problem with my friend not coming up with a campaign, a lot of my friends are more action oriented roleplayers.

My friend has the Game of Thrones, which is the d20 version. From what I got to read of it, it was a lot like D&D, but with little differences i.e. System shock and Armor was damage reduction driven. Never got to play it though, he couldn't come up with a campaign.

I wanted to see if anyone had success running the above referenced game on here. I have been itching to use my books and can never get a game together.

Do any of you think it would draw enough interest?

Thanks for your thoughts.

I am interested also, but put all others before me in priority. If you need me I am here though. Also, Sounds interesting, I would prefer more modern also.

Also, you may want to look at running a module first. It would be a good way to get a game started and introduce the characters to each other. As far as that goes, you could even run a Society Scenario to just get things started. Just a thought. It would also give you some time to find a full AP and yet have your group started.
What are some good level 1 modules?

well, if you are looking for PFRPG, there are only a couple I think. Crypt of the Everflame, Master of the Fallen Fortress and the Godsmouth Heresy

The former capital city of Westcrown in Cheliax. Basically the PC's fight for the resistance against the ruling house. That is a VERY basic plot though.

Sounds like a good place for a rogue with catch off-guard, Shifty :)

I believe I made an offer to run an AP for your potential Pseudodragon PC, but didn't have the time.

I must warn everyone though. I am not as elegant a writer as half the DM's on here. They all do an amazing job, and as sad as it makes me, I am just not as creative or well versed as them.

Actually just saw above that you are involved with a Crypt of the Everflame game on RPol. We'll see.
So whats the difference between a module and an AP in terms of duration? I ask because you seem pretty experienced CHP!

actually I just recently got into the PbP DM game. I have 2 running right now. A council of thieves and master of the fallen fortress. My posting over the holidays was horrible, but my groups stuck with me and I appreciate them for that. I've been throwing the idea of a third game around for some time now (I really want to run LoF, but time is hard to come by.) Well, I'll let you know here if I actuallly am going to run one.

so, how many people are still keepimg track of this thread that don't have a game?

Any of you folks have any luck at finding a game? I joined one not long after this thread started and it is dead already. Didn't even get 35 posts! DM just disappeared, no word, no warning, no even a "kiss my ass, I'm gone!" Nothing.

Hey Hedgeknight, what was the PbP that died? I was thinking of running another, but it will probably be a module. Perhaps Crypt of the Everflame. I just don't have time for another AP.

Quoting for emphasis and agreement.

One of the players in a recent PFRPG game I was sitting in on tried to pull this one on the GM and was soundly trumped, as there is nothing in the rulebook for it.

Also, "Celestial Half-Porc," you have a fantastic user name.

Just saw this. Thank you.

The only target is the imbider. The area isn't technically targeting anyone, it is an effect emanating from the targeted creature.

I made myself confused by all this spell stuff. My mind is going crazy :)

EDIT: I think the Aiming a Spell entry is supposed to only be used when calculating how far out it reaches, hence the grid intersection. So even if the creature is in the middle of the square, you still calculate from intersection. I guess you pick a certain corner when you cast or drink it. I don't know, it is a tad unclear.

Arcane Concordance, I do see that this spell is specifically You as the target, but Invisibility Sphere acts like Invisibility for Target(s). Area has nothing to do with Target, it is just the area around the target.

Is there somewhere in the rules that states that emanations don't work with potions? You are not targeting multiple creatures with it, just the imbider.

Take Arcane Concordance into consideration. Invisibility Sphere acts, in terms of target and area, just like this spell. So are you saying a potion of Arcane Concordance would not confer its benefits on the people in the emanation?

IMO when the Invisibility Sphere spell states This spell functions like invisibility, that means it takes all of the details of the Invisibility spell except as noted, including target.

As far as I know there is no official material that contains that ability.

It means per level they get 1/4th of a point. So at 4th level, if they took the favored class bonus each level, they would get 1 extra point.

I have seen the Red Box and Miniatures on sale at both Wal-Mart and Target in my area. The selection of miniatures is horrid and they don't sell any actual books though.

Truthfully I could care less if they stop making D&D stuff. I love Pathfinder and that's all that matters to me :)

Male The rules don't contain a specific for a mix of all races..... Drafter 20/Father 8

I'm good with whatever you guys want to do. If we can find someone to DM that would be awesome.

Male The rules don't contain a specific for a mix of all races..... Drafter 20/Father 8

Still need to do some number crunching and stuff. I can probably have her done tonight though.

I posted in the OOC thread. Wanted to see if I could join in. I have the creation rules and can start something tonight. Let me know, thanks.

Hey everyone. Thought I would drop in and see if you need another person. I could fill in until the others arrived. If that's cool, could you give me a refresher on character creation parameters and the composition of the group so far? I can have something up soon if needed. Thanks.

Sure, I'm still up for it.

2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 3) + 6 = 10
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 5) + 6 = 16
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 6) + 6 = 14
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 6) + 6 = 17
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 4) + 6 = 15
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 5) + 6 = 15

I actually am DMing 2 games and am in a CotCT game that is starting soon, but that is it. If someone else strikes your fancy, then by all means go with them.

Wilkes Wanderway
Halfling Oracle of Life
Curse: Haunted

Spoiler:
Unknown to Wilkes, he was actually one of a pair of twins. His unborn sister died during birth and his parents decided it was best not to tell him until he was older. Wilkes grew up tending the small patch of farmland his family had held for centuries in the south of Brevoy. During this time he noticed small occurrences that happened around him, but mostly unknown to others. Candles would be blown out by a breeze of unknown origin while he was eating or writing, small items would be rearranged in his room and items would not be where he placed them in his pack. One afternoon while he was out tending the fields, Wilkes heard one of their dogs crying out in pain. He ran to the dog’s side and noticed it had been attacked by a boar. This was what made Wilkes realize his true potential and purpose. As he laid his hands on the dog, a faint glow emanated from them and the wounds closed almost immediately.

When Wilkes was eighteen, his parents finally told him about his sister. As he thought about it he realized that all the small odd occurrences, and his ability to heal the dog was his sister’s life force flowing through him and ultimately saved him at birth. A few months passed and Wilkes caught wind of the rumor of expansion into the wild lands. Wilkes packed up his belongings and made his way into the wild, hoping to meet some new people and use his abilities for good.

kingmaker sounds fun. I would like to post for a spot. I am on my phone right now, so it is a little difficult. I can have a concept and rough background up later. Thank you for considering me Hero for Hire.

male and male here. I will play both though.

male and male here. I will play both though.

I'm around the area and was thinking of starting up a game. I have a few friends around here that might play and if not then we could find more. Not sure when I will be able to start this up, but am interested. As for system, it will most likely be Pathfinder. I can't do it at my place though, so we would have to find somewhere else to play.
