Catherine Brightsword |
A pretty young woman with long blonde hair enters, wearing armor, a longsword, longbow, quiver of arrows, and a holy symbol of Iomedae.
"Greetings, fellow warriors of light! I am Catherine Elizabeth Cassandra Brightsword, paladin of Iomedae. I've only been on a few mission for the Pathfinder Society and Silver Crusade so far, but I hope to work with all of you in the future."
Turning to the other new entrant to the hall, Catherine addresses Jerry, "Hello, Sir Jerry. You seem to be even newer here than I am. Welcome to the Silver Crusade. As long as you are prepared to help in the fight against evil, you'll always be welcome here."
Catherine notices someone across the room and becomes distracted. Barely paying attention to Jerry's reply, she tells him, "If you'll excuse me, I have someone to talk to."
She crosses the room to join another pretty blonde, Sister Isabella, who has been here for quite some time.
"Hello, sister!" Catherine greets Isabella, and the two hug enthusiastically. From their similar looks, it's obvious that she isn't addressing Sister Isabella by her religious title. Despite wearing holy symbols to different goddesses, these two seem to be actual sisters.
"Wait until I tell you what I've been up to! I managed to smite a large black dragon! Daddy will be so proud of me!"
"Well, I didn't do it by myself, of course. I was just firing a ballista at it from a distance, to support more experienced Pathfinders who did most of the work. But Iomedae guided my hand, as well as the other Pathfinders on my team who loaded the heavy ammo and helped me aim, and I managed to damage the beast with 2 out of 8 shots that we took at it. I truly feel blessed to have been able to penetrate its thick hide even once, given my relative lack of experience fighting such terrible beasts."
Obviously to those who have played it, I'm talking about the Year of the Shadow Lodge Special.
From the subtier 1-2 table, my level 2 paladin actually managed to hit the dragon that was fighting the 10-11 table, with a pair of natural 20s in 8 or 9 shots. The fact that I was smiting it actually didn't increase my chances of hitting at all. Even with two allies helping me aim and my smite, I was only up to +12 against the thing's 32 AC, so I still needed a natural 20 on the die.
