About Catherine Brightsword
Catherine Elizabeth Cassandra Brightsword is the eldest daughter of Sir Reginald Bartholomew Brightsword VI, a Paladin of Iomedae and member of the Silver Crusade and his wife, Clara Elizabeth Brightsword.
Sir Brightsword had wanted a son to carry on the family tradition as a paladin, but his wife gave birth to six daughters. After much debate about the proper role for women in a noble household, he finally accepted that some of his daughters might have to become adventurers to carry on the family's long standing tradition. Thus, Catherine, as the eldest, began training for her paladin career.
Only after Catherine's training had begun did her mother finally give birth to a son. Her father wanted Catherine to stop her training and let Reginald VII become the family's next paladin, but now that she had begun her training, young Catherine was determined to prove herself a worthy successor to the family's paladin tradition. With her mother's support, her father was convinced to let her complete her training and join the Pathfinder Society as a member of the Silver Crusade.
