"Hmm, back to the main entrance. I suppose we could go back to the plant room to check that out. If we have problems, we're right by the exit. I'm concerned about the barracks near the exit. If an alarm is rung while we are deeper inside, we could be cut off from the exit. Although attacking an unknown sized force isn't a good idea either. Another option would be to explore the rooms in the middle of the map we found," he says to no one in particular as if thinking out loud.

The others move too quickly for Caelryl to stop them from opening the door. "Good thing it wasn't connected to the last room. This looks out of place. I wonder if the former resident wizard had anything to do with this room," he says as he peers into the room looking for anything dangerous.

Caelryl raises his finger to his lips to indicate everyone to be silent. He then motions them out of the room and closes the door quietly.

"That was close. Without knowing how many are in there attacking would not be a good idea. Not to mention there is probably another door at the other end that some of them could circle around to surround us. Let's check what is to the north," he whispers.

Caelryl smiles at finding another secret door. With sword in hand, he goes through, looking both ways down the hall.

Caelryl draws his sword and checks the back wall of each alcove for a secret door. Take 20 for a 27. "I wonder if any of these other alcoves have a secret door." he says as he searches.

If he finds a new secret door, he will inspect for traps and then open. Otherwise ...

"I think we should try a new area. I'm in no hurry to go up against the chief again."

Caelryl listens as Galfon fills in his fellow halfling on what they have found. "No, I believe that is the place. The inscriptions on the chairs indicated they were once there," he chimes in.

At least I think that's the case.

Lol, I forgot about the bounty. Has anyone been collecting the left ears of the goblins we killed?

Secondly, I suggest we don't mention that we found Quasqueton.

Thirdly, how do we want to handle our cleric? Continue playing as an npc or try to find a replacement? I'm ok with an npc.

Lastly, do we have a strong enough group to succeed? Do we need another player/npc or at least some hired help?

WhtKnt - how do you want to handle maps for us to leave? Do you want to put them back up and have us tell you exactly where we go, or do you want to make some wandering monster checks as we leave?

I believe there was a secret door at the end of the hallway by the throne room that led to one of the alcoves in the entryway hallway. I would recommend we use that.

Not needing healing either, Caelryl helps the halfling guard the door.

"I think I vaguely remember how to get out. However, they may be out looking for us now. If we get caught out in the forest, they could easily surround us. We might want to consider finding a spot in here to hide. There's the secret room here off of this room. Hopefully they don't know about it. Spending the night would allow the spell casters to get their spells back to give us a better chance at surviving an attack."

A moment of relief comes over the elf when he sees the goblin chieftan flee. However, he quickly realizes that they may be met by reinforcements and he runs across the room.

"His retreat has given us a short reprieve but he will probably return soon with reinforcements. I don't think we can outrun them with the Friar unconscious. Perhaps one of the pools from the large room can heal us and there was one that may turn us invisible which could help us get away," he says, frustrated that the leader got away.

I believe your initial accounting for Tasius' hp was correct. He was healed for 2 hp right after going down and then another 5 hp the next rd.

Caelryl grits his teeth to try to muffle the scream of pain from the goblin attack. Greatly concerned they may not get out of here alive, and trying to avoid another hit, he drops his sword and takes a step backward. He then quickly draws his bow and an arrow, taking aim at the goblin he has repeatedly attacked and lets loose.

Caelryl watches as Eristinian tries to disable the trap. Seeing the elf continuing to try, he starts to take a step forward to suggest he stop when the trap is triggered. He gives an audible sigh of relief when the cleric brings Eristinian back from unconsciousness.

"Maybe next time give it one try then move on. We need you around a bit longer. No telling what we will find as we explore more," Caelryl says with a smile.

He looks over the map and paper with the others. "It looks like the hallway running east-west between this room and the throne room leads to another room to the east. We should check that out before moving to the northern section of the complex."

"As far as the note, it mentions a vault. There also seems to be a section about the key we found in the pool. Maybe that grinding was a door opening somewhere. But there's also something about 2 levers. Maybe this key I found in the kitchen is part of that," he says trying to make sense of the scorched paper.

Caelryl shakes his head. "My time in the forests have honed my ability to notice things but I have not spent any time studying how to disarm traps. Eristinian seemed to know his way around that lock earlier. Perhaps if he takes his time, he might be able to disarm it," he says looking over at the elf.

"Maybe the person who designed this place used this room. Hopefully we can find something that can be useful that explains what the key is for and what that noise was," he says as he begins to search.

Caelryl tries to determine the direction of the sound. He nods in agreement with the others. "Yes, very strange indeed. Maybe we can find some answers behind that secret door I noticed earlier. But before we leave this room, what should we do about the key? I imagine the lock was placed here by the original occupants so I don't want to help the goblins. I think we should take the key with us until we know what it is for," he says scanning the room for any creatures coming to investigate the sound.

Caelryl walks around the room, eyeing the pools suspiciously. "I don't notice anything different that you have mentioned, Tasius. It would seem to me that anything useful has already been taken, such as the empty pool that appears to grant invisibility. I doubt that the items we see are truly there or if they are it is a trap. Either way, I don't think I want to stick my hand in to find out. Perhaps if we had a long pole, we could stick that in. Unless Tasius wants to try to determine more about the pools he couldn't identify, I suggest we look into the secret door I see over there," he says pointing to the corner.

I can't see the map of the entire room. Are there any other doors or hallways exiting the room?

Caelryl enters the room behind Tasius. Seeing the size of the room, he sheaths his sword, pulling out his bow and nocking an arrow. He follows Tasius around the room as he inspects the various pools. He takes a moment to inspect each pool but doesn't get too close. He mostly keeps an eye on anything approaching them while Tasius tries to figure out what each pool is. 1st roll is for pool. 2nd is for room while waiting for Tasius. Not necessarily searched in order. If we need to state, let's say we searched pools in clockwise fashion starting with K.

Good to know you're still around. I was beginning to think there were just 3 of us left. I think we lost the cleric. Hasn't been an issue yet but would get difficult when we eventually get into a battle.

"It would take us quite some time to haul all of this back to town but I imagine they would have limited value given their size. Destroying the weapons could make it more difficult for the tribe to cause harm in the area for a while. Once we make sure there is nothing of value in here, we could try to set them on fire. Those woodchips could be used as kindling," he responds to Tasius.
