Ok, is Vanish legal then. Not Core, it's Ultimate Combat.
Also Keyhole (it's a Tyrant's Grasp spell but so fitting)

Well, the golden pants look to be more helpful on the fixing side, but they lack the prevention or wiping away of issues all together. I usually prefer the system to focus on making the characters able to get away with a little more, so I would prefer the older system.

As an OOC aside: as an Alumni of Michigan State University I can never vote for a buckeye, it's not as bad as a wolverine, but that is only because nothing really is...

Linguistics not going to be maxed, but it’s not going to be wasted either. Me putting a point in acrobatics or disguise would be. I have disguise self and jump spells for that reason.

I am looking at 2 Story Feats; Artifact Hunter and Crisis of Conscience.

@Gm can you advise if either would work with the character as I laid out. The Crisis of Conscience fits thematically but is very underwhelming Mechanically. Artifact Hunter fits mechanically but only brushes by the actual character.

I will be looking at transmutation spells, is anyone interested in enlarge person? It is powerful for heavy hitters not so good for finesse. Mr H, if you have no shield for a while long sword can be 2handed, an enlarge will up that damage, but your AC will suffer. Gummy, is enlarge a help or a hindrance for you?

@wingnut20x6 if you’re going caster, stay on target. Anything that slows your spell progression is a trap. True power lies in the next level of spells

Since I will start with scribe scroll may I use some of my starting cash to scribe A few?

Looks like arcane is the big need moving forward. I have a couple of hours today, and most of the day tomorrow, to mess around with a couple of ideas.

So put me down for Wiz/Sorc for right now.

Liberty's Edge

Male Human (enhanced) Yes/many

I am willing to fill any role.
I don’t have a specific character in mind yet. I can find a way to enjoy whatever the party needs.

Liberty's Edge

I am good either way. 4 probably is easier managing online wise, but 5 gives diversity

Add me to the no Goblins please. I like the Paizo Goblin quite a bit, but I like them on the wrong side of history. Let's keep them there. Kind of liking the way character background so far though. Nice concepts and I always like options even suboptimal ones that keep to the theme.

As a card carrying member of the Grognard club (it's in my box set somewhere) I am not interested in the time issue. Some characters are more active than others.
I am interested in decluttering the Chronicle sheet and making magic items magical again. If I bought every single cloak of protection on all my chronicle sheets I could wrap the world in magic.
If it appears on a sheet it should be valuable. I should go "Whoa that's cool!" Either I can buy it cheaper, I can get it earlier or do something different. Maybe it allows me to change it's usual slot. Bracers of Dexterity or something. Or better yet, it makes me different.

Liberty's Edge

I start my 4th time running this delicious AP in 2 weeks. I have 2 parties who have finished this, am working on a third which is half way through. I only have had 2 players to repeat in any of the plays. One played a Shoanti Cleric helping tie that portion of the story in, the other an urban ranger to make sure the party got to experience the Sable Company.

Liberty's Edge

Also, make sure the PCs are still the heroes at the end and not the sidekicks. But otherwise yea, Let them go. Just make sure they have a good escape plan.

Liberty's Edge

I am sweating bullets. I only have 1 hour tonight and another 2 tomorrow night to prep a table of The Stolen Heir... I have never downloaded it nor read it. I am an overprepper. this is going to drive me insane.

Liberty's Edge

I did receive an email today, but it was not cancelling my subscription but rather the confirmation of the 1st book in the next series. Please stop that transaction.

Liberty's Edge

Hello,

Please cancel my Adventure Path Subscription. Next AP is not my cup of tea. Thanks.

Liberty's Edge

Been there done all that (not with this particular group of classes but these issues you are running into are not hard to do with a whole slew of classes) What has worked well for me in the past is to vary up the encounters.
You want short corridors and small rooms for a little while. Then have a boat adventure. follow that up with a mountain climb oh and maybe an active volcano.
Also don't hesitate to split them up now and then (not to often or the others will be super bored) Maybe have one who has drawn some negative attention from someone important get targeted by an Assassin. They would never attack while the party is all grouped up, fully healed and loaded with spells. But they might make a visit at the inn...in the middle of the night, after a tough day of adventuring. Or perhaps they wait until the party has used a bunch of resources on a tough fight then drop in unexpectedly.
The key is to keep them on their toes, and to some degree yourself on your toes. Some will fail miserably. Some will be memorable, some will be ho-hum. Enjoy that ride.
I suspect that the group really isn't doing as much damage as they could at the level they are at. Have stuff with lots of hitpoints and DR. let them hit it and hit it and it just withstand. Or run up the monster AC's. You can't hit it either. Though be careful not to get into a nahnahnah nah nah fight.

Liberty's Edge

The centipedes are clearly not Surprised. Was his perception high enough to perceive them? (did he beat their modified stealth) If not, then he is surprised. They get a standard action (to attack presumably) before initiative. If he is surprised they will go before him, regardless of initiative and are not flat-footed. If he is not surprised then initiative is rolled and everyone is flat-footed until they move.

Liberty's Edge

Grind it up and snort it...oh wait you wanted to remain good afterwards didn't you? NM...

Welcome Mr. Macklin

Hello Customer Service!

In looking at my finances and the fact that I now have a surplus of material to run it is time for me to cancel my pathfinder subscription. Please understand this has nothing to do with the price increase and everything to do with content and a surplus of it at my house currently. I am sure I'll re add subscription once I find the AP for me and I have the group and time to run it for.

Thank you!

Liberty's Edge

Thank you, you guys are the best! (and I do mean the best!)

Liberty's Edge

Good morning Customer Service,

I just oppened my package and discovered an error. I ordered Gamemastery Flip-Mat: Pirate Island. I received Pirate Ship. Can we make arrangements for a rendesvous where we trade hostages? I already have a copy of Pirate Ship you see but would love to have a copy of Pirate Island to call my very own.

Thank you.

Whenever the rogues attack qualifies it triggers sneak attack. So yes. As long as the rogue is still flanking or his opponent is flat-footed his attacks all use sneak attack damage.

Liberty's Edge

Sadly it sounds like your party is rebelling against the "railroad" to rebell against the railroad. This is why I worked hard to invest my Player's Characters in Korvosa. I made them have some reason to love the city they were in, even if they were not from there.

Both of my groups at one time or another realized that they were on a railroad but also realized that their characters would never willingly get off as it was laid out perfectly in line with who they were and what they wanted. It's all a matter of perspective.

Liberty's Edge

Devargo Barvasii is nothing more than a side quest as written. In fact there is mention of him in Escape from Old Korvosa. If the party left him then he winds up...

Spoiler:
Eaten by his Ettercap/spider allies and his little story arc comes to a close. Sadly the psuedo dragon probably gets eaten to.

In otherwords. if they don't want to go do it, fine, they miss the fun. No biggie.

Yes we do! Step right over here, and you'll get not one, but *two* free copies of everything Paizo makes!

But where's the post looking for a Retail Store Manager with 15 years of added experience and extensive schooling in the Horticultural field?

Hint: It is such a rare combination of skills that no one has managed to find the right niche thus far.

I can tell you where all of the best regions to produce wines, fruits, grains and nut crops are on your maps though! That has to be worth...never mind I can't even sell me on it...

Liberty's Edge

How about rumors. When they hit an inn or a crowd have them do diplomacy checks for gather information. One of the rumors they hear is that the guard is actively searching for the Queen's Missing Brooch.

Otherwise you could just skip the brooch.
Cressida could have them hauled in. Sort of play up the guards showing up and demanding they accompany them. Have Cressida then thank them for dealing with something that she was unable to do and offer them another job...if they could just take care of this traitor for her...you know and after that there might be other things the party could handle.

I would then have them meet the queen. Either they figure out about the brooch or Cressida has them meet her for a reward. Don't let them miss meeting the queen now. It is so cool to meet her early in the process.

Liberty's Edge

Does Paizo offer an "indentured servitude" plan? It would be cheaper for me...

Liberty's Edge

pearl of power. Wait what? really I use one now and then as well as a wand of Lesser Restoration and a wand of bless weapon. I just recently got a wand of divine grace but I tend not to find the time to use it yet.

I know most people don't look at Paladin and see spell caster, but in my party I am also the closest thing we have to a cleric.

Liberty's Edge

We rolled this encounter up early in the kingdom building process. We only had a few city blocks filled in and our Druid Bit it. Course after his bear went down he charged instead of fleeing. No one was upset OOC about it but it was so early that our Kingdom almost didn't survive.

Liberty's Edge

Well, the celestial mount from another realm thing didn't make the leap from 3.5 to Pathfinder. It is now a special mount, yes, but it is still an animal from your plane of existance. So when it dies, it goes no where unless the manner of it's death sends it somewhere.

And a lot more stuff

Normally I am behind you 100% but on this one I think you are wrong and you are pushing your point to hard and starting to push the envelope of civility. Just because people don't agree with you is no reason to get mean.

You can argue, and I will defend your right to believe, that you are correct and that the rules say what you think they say. But there is a lot of wiggle room there. The monk get's an extra attack. Denying that seems to me as obviously wrong as it apparently seems to you that it is right.

Let's calm down, agree to disagree and move on here.

Liberty's Edge

Security Certificate? We don't need no Security Certificate!

Liberty's Edge

Fun fact...Leadership tops out at 135 1st level followers, not to mention the other 38 followers of progressively higher levels.

1st level kobold sorcerers all scattered around, 15 to 20 feet apart from each other...

Think: 173 magic missiles (plus a couple for the 3rd level + characters)

Sure they are 1 hit, AOE chum...but who has time to do that when fighting a dragon... Just don't target the wizard. I would aim for the Paladin. The chances of the Paladin having a shield spell or a brooch or shielding will be thin. 173 d4 + 173 = 605 avg dmg... I wouldn't even stat them. No one will miss. If they attack one it dies. If they are caught in an AOE they die...

I would use the projected image in the Center of a large (and I mean bigger than your board large) cavern. Ledges running along the walls every 10' or so up with caves everywhere. The caves are where the kobold minions are. Image is on an island in a lava lake. There is a crust of land jutting out over the lake. Party pops in there is the image of the dragon and once the fight starts the kobolds all fire for effect.

Sure the party will probably figure out the image is not real right out of the gate, that doesn't tell them where the dragon is though. Meanwhile they are being pelted.

The dragon is indeed in the lava, but he is under the crust of land the party is standing on. Then you just melt the ground they are standing on dropping them into the Lava. Bonus points if you get AOO's on them as they sink by you.

They will know you are in the lava then, but they won't be able to see you. True Seeing isn't going to let you see through lava...Great you can see through my invis but um can you see through liquid rock? oh wait you no longer have any eyes!!! ;)

Liberty's Edge

Not a well thought out kickstarter. I see no incentive to join, I didn't know about this until after it had broken the mark. What advantage do I get now? Oh I get to watch other people get cooler stuff. Meh. I'll listen to my wallet on this one.

As someone who has used the 1st cards a couple of times in limited action and just started up a cleric and have printed a couple of sets of the cards, let me thank you for your hard work. These are great.

Your new format looks awesome.

I have an odd request. Can you make the backgrounds an option without any text whatsoever. What I would like to do is print up just backgrounds, glue them to the back of the printed cards so they look decent. Then I'll laminate them.

Thanks for the consideration and thanks for these awesome cards!

I have used Gorilla Glue and Superglue numerous times for all kinds of mini works. They each have their advantages and disadvantages.

Gorilla Glue works really well with wood and metal, not as well with plastic in my experience and don't bother with plaster of paris. When used it has the disadvantage of expanding as Sean mentioned. It's advantage is the joint will not fail. The material it is attatched to will fail before the glue does in almost all cases. Thus it should not be used on Plaster of Paris, which I use a lot of for my castlemold buildings. Trust me the Gorilla glue seems great until the plaster of paris just pops above the joint.

Superglue is great if you want something stuck right now...15 seconds and it won't move, it needs to cure longer than that but it is stuck after that first 15 seconds. I don't find it holds wood or metal very well. Plastic seems to be it's best media.

I will be picking up washers as I plan on using magnets with the minis and the washers fit the bill nicely. So what I will probably do is use 1 drop of gorilla glue and 1 drop of superglue. The Gorilla Glue is for the strength and the superglue for the speed. With the Gorilla Glue remember more is not better. Even just the one small drop will be more than enough to hold them together and may be to much when the foaming/expanding starts.

A note when using Gorilla Glue. It will NOT stick to wax paper so do all of your gluing on a piece of wax paper. Once dried the Gorila Glue will litterally slide off the paper.

I am waiting for the epic dragon AP. That one where your knights, wizards and thieves can save the village, then the duchy, then the kingdom and finally the world from the dragons, all the while dancing away with the ginormous piles of loot!

And also, I have a wonderfully painted army of orcs and yet we haven't seen many in the AP's. Perhaps a "Here comes the Orc Army" AP?

I run similarly to Dark Mistress.

I pre load an Excel sheet with every item of Masterwork or better or treasure items that have a list price. I give every item a number code so that I can track the item. I have a column for where the item was found (Ex: BO27 for Burnt Offering pg 27) and one for who is carrying it. There is a column for its price in gp and its Identify DC for appraise/spellcraft . And there is a notes column as well for anything I need to know about an item (ex: the name may be +1 longsword but the notes column may say -1 longsword or intelligent 15 or +3 animal bane longsword or this is not a longsword…)

If someone uses a potion they tell me I drink Potion #16. I then find 16 and note that it was used. I color code each item as it is removed as well Red for sold, green for used.

I then have a player sheet that copies the master list. It doesn't have all the same columns only the code, the name/description of the item, who has it, and its known monetary value. I usually make this one a larger font for the players, as I have excellent eyes and now have my laptop at the table so I can also use the search function if I really need to find an item so I can use 8 point on my main list.

So I can find an item, who most likely has it (the party can easily trade items around and not let me know but usually they stay put) I played with a group a while back that had some sort of communal use policy. If one got a potion of cure light it could be used by anyone at anytime and would drive me crazy. I finally came up with this system to track who had what and I never really took the character tracking out of the system. “Wait I thought Bob had the potion of cure light” “No I do” was a problem for a while with that group so I had them tell me when they moved stuff around. It isn’t nearly as big a deal anymore but all my groups happily help me keep my Item Lister as I call it as accurate as possible.
