So when adding special abillities to armor, it says that the total bonus can't exceed +10 (enhancement bonus + special ability bonus). My question is that some of the special abilities say something like +3,750gp, etc. instead of listing a bonus. Do these types of special abilities just not count toward the +10 limit?
I was just wondering, can a character learn magic by accident? I'm specifically thinking about a witch character that I'm creating, but this may apply to other casters as well. What I mean is, could a witch, because of some innate arcane ability, discover and learn to use magic more or less on their own, and almost by chance, or do they need to be taught? Or maybe a combination of the these? I've never played a caster before, so I've never spent too much time thinking about this sort of thing. I'm curious what others think about it.
Hi,
I started making my own monster cards to help out during combat. I'm pretty much a newb at GM'ing and I was waisting too much time looking things up, so I thought these might be helpful. I'm looking for some feedback before I get too far into this. I'm beginning to think that I may have included too much info for general combat needs. Like I said, I'm kind of a newb. They are pretty plain, black and white, without images. Adding images from the Bestiary would be cool, but currently there isn't room for images. And I think that if I used images, I wouldn't be able to legally share them. Anyway, all thoughts are appreciated. Thanks. Link here
The other day I was rolling for a random encounter using the table provided with the module we were playing and rolled a Young Adult Black Dragon. So, that's cool, everybody loves a dragon. Well, I flip through the Beastiary to the entry and find that the Young Adult version hasn't been statted out. After a few minutes of trying to work it out, I just skipped the dragon and rerolled. Granted, i'm somewhat inexperienced, and this was probably easier to do than I was making it out to be. But it just seemed too complicated to do on the spot (and moderately complicated to do at all). My question is, does anyone know if there's a resource for getting dragon stats that have already been figured out? I'm not sure why they didn't just include stat blocks for each age category, frankly.
I'm a little confused about the use of scrolls. Using divine scrolls as an example, in the Spell section it says "Only characters who have the spell (in its divine form) on their class spell list can cast a divine spell from a scroll." Simple enough. A druid can't use an arcane scroll. My confusion comes in under the Use Magic Device skill where it says under the "Use a Scroll" section, "Use Magic Device allows you to use a scroll as if you had a particular spell on your class spell list." So, from that I take it that a Druid could cast an arcane spell. At least, potentially. So which is it?
My group and I are fairly new to this whole thing (a couple of us played back in the AD&D days, long, long ago). I've taken on the challenge of DM'ing and am enjoying it for the most part. But one thing I'm having trouble getting my head around is the Surprise round. I understand the concept, but I just haven't really figured out when or how it should be used. I'm looking for any advice or insight on the subject.
Thank you very much,
