There is a Paizo module called From Shore to Sea which they produced in conjunction with Open Design/Kobold Press. It generated an accompanying sourcebook called Sunken Empires.

If you want to go under the waves you could pick up the critically lauded Cerulean Seas books.

You have just missed out on the Razor Coast kickstarter which includes Fire As She Bears, a book for Age Of Sail ship combat. You could pick it up when it is on general release from Frog God Games.

Paizo published a pirate AP called Skull & Shackles with an accompanying sourcebook.

Thanks looking at skulls and shackles now.

I'm running a high seas adventure next week using the pathfinder system, i using a lot of Stormwrack which is a Dnd supplement i stumbled upon.

I mostly just want to know if there are any particular Pathfinder books that will help me with this sort of stuff, any experience any of you have had with sort of stuff as well as general ideas would be good.

Also on a more specific note how would you think women and witches would be treated on pirate ships. Also women witches.

Any help or advice you guys have would be appreciated, thanks.

Wow thanks for that this will be super helpful.

Haven't thought of it much but i guess it's just a mask that wants to cause as much destruction and suffering as possible through the bending of peoples wills. Making them do more and more horrible things until they are just mindless drones that obey its every whim.

As abilities go i guess being able to influence people but only for evil purpose. So evil Jedi mind tricks, other than that i'm not sure.

Hey i just wanted some help with making an intelligent item i'm new at this so help would be nice.

I basically just want a mask that whispers into peoples minds and makes them go mad basically.

i'm really not sure how to go about this and it won't really be anything more than a sub-plot but if i'm going to do this i want to do it right.

Taking a look at what you have set-up, the overall encounter is roughly CR 4, which would be classified as an epic encounter for a 1st-level party. You would definitely help the players out by adding the fatigued condition, but it sounds like you want a way to teach players that rushing in doesn't always work so reducing the challenge may not help with that goal.

Here's my suggestion: as the PCs are approaching the library, 3 of the thieves are asleep, one is lazily keeping a lookout, and the leader is off going through the loot. If the PCs aren't careful, the lazy guard will notice them, wake up his allies (say in 1 to 3 rounds depending on how nice you want to be), and then they get pounced on. This gives them a chance to use some strategy or retreat if things go wrong.

Since it sounds like a new group, a brutal lesson isn't really called for yet and could ruin the mood for future sessions. This way gives them a chance to learn some tactics for themselves and if they get in over their heads, hey, that was their call. PCs being what they are, they might get through it too.

Well when they enter the library they can either go up two flights of stairs which will leader to a catwalk overlooking the boss and two of the guards asleep in the room but the sentry idea might work too, i'll give it some more thought.

It's an open area, but yeah i figured as much, thanks.

I need some help with designing an encounter. (I'm new at this)

What I've got is the party enters an old library which a small gang of thieves are using for a hideout, they thieves have made off with some jewels the night before and have just gotten back from their thieving.

I was going to have their leader sitting in the main room inspecting the loot and the other thieves upstairs asleep, if the party are sneaky or clever they can kill the upstairs ones first then work on the boss, or kill the boss first, whatever they want.

But if they do what i think they'll do they'll rush in and attack the main guy which will allow the guys on balcony's to shoot down and probably destroy them.

Now i was gonna have four 1/2 CR thieves on the balconies and a 2 CR leader, the group are only four level one PCs in one of their first games. It's also just a one shot so dying isn't so bad.

I was thinking of making the thieves fatigued but i'm not sure how the fight would go if they rush in. Is it too much or should I use this as an example for them not to be stupid?

I need some help.

I'm dming a game soon and i was planning on hooking my pc up to my tv and using gametable to show the movements and positioning and the layout of the area.

My question is whats the best way to reveal the map? I wanted to somehow freeze the screen and then publish a new room whenever they enter it. But i can't seem to find any programs that let me do that. So i guess my other option is to draw the rooms by hand whenever they enter them, which i don't want to do.

Advice?

My alchemist throws bombs in the middle of groups of enemies or to the side so that other players don't get hurt.

Whats the best way to find out if he hits? Give the ground ac?

Yeah that would work.

Its two iron claws attached via a chain, it would probably have reach though.

Iron Chain

Hey, i wanted to make a monk sometime in the near future and i wanted to basically be Betty from Kung pow.

Is there any weapon that are like the iron claws?

If not what stats would it have?

yeah, it needs to be a monk weapon.

I see what you are all saying, and thank you for the replies, but if the half-ling in the group gets the light crossbow she could fire it reload it and then pass it on to the elven ranger, who will then do extra damage.

It just seems wrong.

It doesn't work that way bob. The crossbow is a small sized crossbow. The ranger would actually take a penalty for trying to shoot it because it doesn't fit his hands. And it would deal the same damage as before (unless the ranger had archery feats/favored enemy at play.)

That would make sense, silly me.

Thank you.

Hey, first time posting here, i'm dming a game soonish for the first time and there was something that was bugging me about crossbow damage, why do crossbows deal less damage in the hands of smaller people.

I mean if they're the same size shouldn't it just deal the same damage?

With bows and melee weapons it makes sense, but crossbows?

So if someone could explain that, i'd appreciate it.
