About Ben Goshey Hojoin

Ben, a third-generation Chellexian, was born to rather humble parents. His mother and father were honest, hard-working people who had seen enough corruption in the law to realize that the standard Asmodian Worship in Chelliax was not what they wanted for their son.

When he was of age, his parents encouraged Ben to join an Abdaran monastery. His older brother had already taken over their humble farm, and their homested wasn't big enough for all of them. So they encouraged Ben to become law-abiding citizen that didn't try to hurt or trick people with the law. Ben agreed, always wanting to please his parents, and so at the age of fifteen he joined a local convent. Ben took to his studies well, and even learned how to cast a few spells from Abadar. He also excelled at combat practice (though he didn't have a particular taste for it), but he lacked the natural charisma and force of personality to be a true Cleric of Abadar. And so, the monks were forced to expel him after several years, but all was not lost.

The years of training with the monks on trade law and filing made Ben the perfect candidate for a new trend that was sweeping Chelliax. With the barristers spending most of their time in the courtroom, there was an ever greater demand for legal researchers to aid barristers in their studies and paperwork. Ben was hired almost as soon as he left the convent by the estate of Lord Eckheart Henderthane, and prominent Chellexian noble.

Unfortunately, Ben's propensity for 'being good' clashed with Lord Henderthane's Asmodian beliefs, but he was so good at his work that Henderthane couldn't legitimately fire him. After a few more years, Henderthane finally got an idea. Hearing that his daughter had made disparaging comments about how the pathfinder society was 'far too chaotic,' the lord placed Ben on permanent loan to the pathfinder society.

Originally, Ben was only meant to be a legal aide to the Pathfinder society, but due to a legal 'mishap' he has been 'accidentally' filed as a field agent. Though initially reticent to this arrangement, Ben has gradually grown on the idea, as being out in the field helps him spread the ideals of Abadar. With his good deeds, he hopes to become a fully-fledged, recognized priest of Abadar one day, as well as spread his ideals to other pathfinders.
