Hi all,

I'm building a gnome arcanist and have a question about the pyromaniac alternate racial trait. Does this also affect class abilities? more specific, if I take the exploit that gives me the ray of fire (don't have the book with me now, but it gives me a 30 ft line of fire, reflex for half), does the pyromaniac +1 to DC also increase the DC of this class ability?

I'm just reading the ACG PDF, and I came across this ability for the arcanist.
Does this mean that if you take 1 level of sorcerer and then take this exploit and continue as arcanist, you effectively get full progression on the bloodline? Or does it only progress the first level bloodline power?

I'm thinking it's the second one, because full progression seems a bit too strong for the cost of 1 level

Hi everyone

I'm a long time player, but this weekend I'll be playing my first PFS game. I decided to go with a trip build fighter (pole-arm archetype).

I pretty much got my feats plannedout up to lvl6, but just wanted to check if I'm missing something obvious.

1) combat reflexes, combat expertise (human), improved trip (fighter)
2) dodge(fighter)
3) weapon focus (guisarme)
4) mobility (fighter)
5) combat patrol
6) greater trip

I'm trying to get combat patrol and greater trip as soon as possible. Just seems fun to go around tripping everything and getting AOO's as a result. Downside is I have only 1 free feat untill lvl 7 (I took weapon focus for that one), all the others are prerequisites.

Are there any other feats better than weapon focus, or woth it to delay combat patrol and/or greater trip for one or more levels?

I just bought fiddlers lament and want to add it to my upcoming CC campaign. The problem I have with it is that as written I find it hard to incorporate it in the storyline without it feeling awkward.

Fiddlers lament is a really cool story and the misterious stranger gives me a possible return villain to give the party some extra XP when they need it (I have 5 players, 4 of which are complete newbies, so upping the CC encounters is not really an option). I really like the idea of the entire town being overrun by the dearly departed.

The one issue I have is that this rising of the dead is also included in HoH, and especially the idea of the professor coming to visit his daughter posthumously is really cool. So this is an encounter I really want to keep. Just adding fiddlers lament before or after this encounter does not feel right either. I mean, the dead can only rise from their graves so many times before things get boring.

Are there any other GM's who used this add-on?? How did/would you fix this issue??

I will start running CC crown soon, and reading through part 2, I came across the stat block for

Spoiler:
the aberrant Promethean, where it says "immune: magic"

Does this mean it can not be affected by ANY magic?

I know it's a CR11, but still...

From what I read in the bestiary that is what it means.

so no targeting it with any type of spell, no effect from area spells.

how about a witch's hexes and things like that??

quick question:

I'm reading through the cleric spell list for my oracle , and in the text of spiritual weapon it says BAB + wis mod for attack rolls.

cna an oracle use it's cha bonus instead or does it stay wis?

I'm asking this since when this spell (and all other cleric spells in the CRB) the oracle did not exist yet and all divine casters used wis by default

I am thinking about creating a character using only natural attacks, but the rules have me a bit confused.

If I play a half-orc I have three options to get a bite attack.

the toothy alternate racial trait gives me one as aprimary natural attack

the tusked race trait from orcs of golarion gives me a bite attack, but states it is a secundary attack when used as part of a full attack

the razortusk feat from APG gives me a bite attack, states that I am proficient with it and that it is a secundary attack when used as part of a full attack.

now if I use only natural attacks (say claw/claw/bite) what happens with each of these three options?

I am assuming they are all at my full base attack and full strength on all of them, but especially the part about being proficient in the razortusk entry is making me doubt.

and what is in effect the difference between these options, except for the price

Dear Paizonians

The gendarme archetype for cavalier (ultimate combat) grants a number of bonus feats from a short list.

quote from SRD

Bonus Feats: A gendarme trains to be a mounted terror, almost to the exclusion of all other abilities. He gains bonus feats at 1st level, 5th level, and then every three levels thereafter, but must select these bonus feats from the following list: Improved Bull Rush, Mounted Combat, Power Attack, Ride-By Attack, Spirited Charge, Spring Attack, and Unseat. If the gendarme has already selected all of the listed feats, then he may select his bonus feats from those feats listed as combat feats. This ability replaces tactician, greater tactician, master tactician, and the standard cavalier's selection of bonus feats.

As it says in the first line these are meant to be feats that somehow improve mounted combat. my question: what are improved bull rush and spring attack doing in this list??

As far as I know when you do a bull rush while mounted it is actually the mount that is performing the maneuver, not the rider. So this would be a useless feat

same goes for spring attack. while mounted this is covered by ride-by attack. I could envision the mount having spring attack so it can attack as well, but for the rider this would be useless.

I already talked this over with my DM but he couldn't come up with any reasonable answer either.

Second question: Do I need to have all the prerequisite feats in order to take a feat from this list. Since it is not mentioned either way anywhere in the text I am assuming the default answer is YES. So I would need dodge and mobility in order to take spring attack.

Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on this problem

quick question that came up last night:

If you provoke an attack of opportunity from a rogue that is flanking you, can the rogue do sneak attack damage, or just the normal weapon damage?

Hi all

Let mestart from the beginning

I live in Belgium and have been a pathfinder subscriber from the very beginning.
In the past I have the occasional 10 euro customs fee slapped onto a package I recieved. No big deal.
The last couple of years the packages with a 10 euro fee became more and more common, upto the point where I hardly ever recieved a package without having to pay an extra 10 euros. Still, no big deal. I really love the pathfinder products and hving a subscription (with the discount connected to it) still gets me these products cheaper and easier then having to make orders every month via amazon or whatever, or driving to the closest gaming store (about half an hour drive, which is a lot when you live in Belgium)

Last year I pre-ordered the heroes and monster mini case (275 dollars which became 233 with the subscriber discount). Good price for a great product. The first week of January I recieved the standard Paizo e-mail telling me they had been shipped, and I was waiting with my 10 euro bill ready to pay the extra customs charge...
But all I got was a letter from customs telling me the package was blocked and I had to contact them.

I called them up to ask what the problem was, and they told me I needed to provide them with a "proof of payment" for them to clear the package.
So I contacted Paizo and they immediately e-mailed me the reciept of the order in question (great and very quick service by the way). I e-mailed this receipt to customs last friday and waited for a response.

Not getting any response from them I called them just now and they told me the packege was on its way again, but then came the bad news: I had to pay 75 euros (no typo, seventy five euros) is customs fees and taxes opun delivery of the package. Let's just say it kinda ruined my day. 75 euros on a 233 dollar shipment????

They told me that any package coming from outside the EU with a value over 40 euros or something was subject to import taxes and customs fees, but that I could reclaim taxes paid in the US via the vendor.

So, my question is:

Is there any way to either reclaim any part of these costs or to avoid thes costs in the future??

Has anybody else, especially other european customers, encountered similar problems?

Thanks in advance for any answers or suggestions

Just a quick question to be sure.

A halfling (+2 str mod) on a wolf charges with a lance.
If he hits it's 2d6 +4 damage right (double damage for lance when mounted).

If he scores a crit, this will become 4d6 +8 (lance has x3 crit multiplier and tag on the double damage for charging).

If he also has spirited charge it will become 5d6 +10, right?

The reason I ask is because one of my players claimed that the multipliers didn't just stack but actually multiplied to give 6d6+12 on a crit (x2 and x3 gives x6), going up to x9 with spirited charge, but that seems seriously over the top to me

Hi folks

we had our char creation session laxt night to start the kingmaker AP.
Party composition is a half-elf witch, dwarven wizard, human rogue, human barbarian and human paladin(me). we used 20 point buy.

I decided to build my paladin as very Lawful Gullible, which seems like a lot of fun to play as is also less of an annoyance to the rest of the party. In combat I'm going bastard sword and heavy shield, so that I have the option of going 2H if needed (going straight 2H would become too much of an arms race with the barbarian)
As I am the only one with a good cha i'm taking on the role of party face
I'm looking at going warrior of holy light archetype

stats

str 17
dex 12
con 14
int 10
wis 7
cha 16

feats ex weapon (bastard sword) and shield focus
traits sword scion (my GM allowed it for my bastard sword) and ease of faith

skills diplomacy 1 (8) heal 1 (2) intimidate 1 (7)
My GM allowed intimidate as a class skill instead of spellcraft as I plan on going WoHL (no spells)

Any obvious mistakes I made?? I'm not looking for a super optimized character, but any advice you can give is welcome

thanks

Am I reading this correctly??

evil eye: even if the target makes its will save, the effect still lasts for 1 round

cackle extends the duration by 1 round

so with my standard action I evil eye the guy, and then with my move action I can cackle, and as long as I keep cackling the guy suffers from evil eye, xhether he saved against it or not

is true this is quite a nice combo for a lvl1 character

thanks for your reactions

Can any of you good folk help me out with the stat block on page 15 of Escape from Old Korvosa.

1) The stat block says the assassins have 2 off-hand attacks, but they don't have imp 2WF. Give them the extra feat or drop the second off hand attack??

2) In the "before combat" section it says that they cast cat's grace (lvl2), spider climb(lvl1) and expeditious retreat (lvl1).
further along it says they try casting hold person on a character standing in a burning square. But the spells known gives them only 1 lvl2 spell per day, and further in the stat block it says they have an INT of 8, so they wouldn't even be able to cast spells at all.
If I look up the red mantis assassin spell progression, it shows that a lvl3 assassin has 0 lvl2 spells per day, so only bonus spells for high INT

So in order to fix this I would have to boost their INT from 8 to somewhere around 20 to get 2 bonus lvl2 spells.

This boost, combined with the extra feat for imp 2WF would seriously increase the threat these guys pose to the party

Any suggestions on how to best fix this??

thnx

Something that's been running around my head for a while now. Why is it that you can "cleave" through one enemy to hit a second one, even with a club or a spear, but you cannot shoot an arrow through one enemy and into a second one standing behind it?

I was thinking somewhere along the lines of a feat, let's call it "through and through shot", that works along similar lines as the 3.5 cleave feat for melee weapons.

through and through shot

prereq: point blank shot

When killing an opponent with a ranged attack, you may immediatly make a second attack with the same BAB against a second opponent that is positioned in a straight line behind the first one, no more then 20' away.

Some things I have been thinking about with this feat are:

* can this be used with any ranged weapon? I can see this happening with a bow, maybe even a crossbow, but a sling is a bit harder to imagine. And what about thrown weapons? A spear might be feasable, but a thrown dagger??

* With a sling you might be able to reword the feat so that the killing sling bullet bounces off and hits an adjacent target, Would this be a seperate feat then, especially for slings, or just take it as one feat??

any suggestions/comments on this from the community??

More curious than anything else, actually. We have two groups playing in Hasselt en Houthalen, just wondering if there are any other players around.
Just give me a heads up, might be fun to get together
