Baghotir doesn't understand the animosity either, but tries to...

Insight: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

He still doesn't get it but he keeps his trap shut.

"Yeah, I'm in. Let's carve this place out for the betterment of all in the alliance."

Character Sheet

Baghotir goes to his room first to freshen up before the presentation. He takes off his gear, but not his armor - not enough time for that. When he opens his pack, he's surprised!

"Damn, sorry little dude. I forgot you were there. Let's go down to the kitchen and get a bowl or something for you shall we?"

Lobsters don't need water to breath, but they need to stay moist or their gills will dry out, and then there's trouble...

So he's carrying a large bowl with Shern to the presentation.

While the Baron speaks, he's quiet. When he's done, Baghotir might mention a thing or two that he noticed that went unsaid, but likely not. Not unless it's really important. He rests one hand on his hammer, and with the other holds the bowl so Shern can see what's going on.

Persuasion to aid the Baron: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

Baghotir is chatty on the ship back, enormously impressed by what they'd accomplished - and got away clean. He praises the firm leadership of Baron Belwick, for Baghotir would have left much earlier and they'd have had a tougher fight coming back for his early departure.

Once they're away, he'll take ten minutes to heal the team more thoroughly - just in case. But the tension in his shoulders eases the further away they get.

He listens pleasantly to the conversation about Kysh and the Tritons, but he doesn't add much to the conversation - content to sit back and relax during the journey.

When they get back, one of the first things he does is fix up his old armor and sell it. He knows its worth, and won't take a copper below market value. After all, the money isn't just his.

I think it's worth 1,500gp, so 750gp sold I assume. If correct, we each get 125gp from the proceeds.

Then he'll spend some time relaxing downstairs in the adventurers bar. He's sure the party will be called up to talk about what they've seen, so he stays somewhere easily found. And stays sober so he can give a reasonable report of their findings if he's called on to speak.

Dex Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 vs DC 16 for 6hp damage

Baghotir pummels the shark in the head a few more times with his spiritual axe as it sinks - just to make the point. He keeps his distance from the churning sacks, since his spirit guardians are still spinning and he doesn't want to kill babies.

"I agree with the lobster. Let's get out of here while the gettin' is good. These are likely bedchambers. Let's beat it."

When the Baron wants to talk to the crustacean though, he complies readily enough. "Make it quick though huh?"

While they chat, he'll heal Caelius a bit - as he seems the most wounded. "I don't have much left, and want to reserve a bit in case we have to fight our way out."

But for the fear, Baghotir could save their fallen comrade still. But he cannot close...

Instead, he casts Mass Healing Word, to try and take the edge off the injuries quickly piling up. Everyone heals 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7. Well, except the shark and unholy enemies of course.

He also keeps his spiritual axe on the shark.

Will: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9 vs DC 14 Really? Damn... and I'm out of inspiration.

Baghotir casts Spirit Guardians, exempting his friends and their new companions, including the frightened lobster. Then he moves up, warhammer in hand.

He stands shakily, his warhammer nearly dropping into the murky water.

"No, no, no. This is not going to happen," he says simply, but too afraid to move up and put a stop to it.

I think I did frightened correctly, but let me know if not!

Character Sheet

Baghotir tries to keep the rumble in his tummy from sounding overloud. That said, he'd not eat an intelligent creature. Still, he does like his surf-and-turf.

"What are you doing here?" he inquires of the little guy.

Knowing they're in a bit of a hurry, he adds, "If you crawl/swim up to my pack and hang on, we'll get you out of here, but we're going deeper first."

"Well, by the gods!" Baghotir swears. He's ready to leave, but he sees the value in the Tritons' aid. And if there's evil afoot... I mean, more than the usual evil, he'll not leave it behind.

Looking about, he sees he's the only one with significant injuries, so he does something about it as he nods, "Fine, fine. Let's do this."

CW x2: 2d8 + 8 ⇒ (6, 5) + 8 = 19

He readies himself and, taking up the rear, proceeds to the doorway in question.

Stealth: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12

Character Sheet

Baghotir helps the others through the hole before rejoining the group himself.

"That hurt!" He smiles though as the loot is brought out and shown to the others.

Worried they don't have another 10 minutes, he'll top up a bit with a quick healing to at least get something for the pain.

CW: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

"Look. I think we either we hide and get a proper rest, or we bail out that secret passage. I'm leaning toward the latter as loud as that noise was. Either way, let's move away from here."

He waits for consensus before bringing up the rear as usual to keep an eye out for stragglers.

Character Sheet

Baghotir aims to clear away the debris.

Strength: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17 vs DC 18 Aaargh!
Inspiration Strength: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 vs DC 18

Shrugging, he'll start dragging more rubble away.

Character Sheet

Taking advantage of the time, Baghotir will cast Prayer of Healing. He'll heal Embers, Belwick, Alisanne, and himself. He can add two more to the spell, and will offer to heal their hangers on if anyone needs it.

Assuming the 10 minute cast is successful...
Heal: 2d8 + 4 ⇒ (5, 4) + 4 = 13

Character Sheet

Dex: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10 vs DC 15

Baghotir grows cold in his own skin, "Ouch! That smarts!" He shivers.

"Better be some loot in there..." he growls to no one in particular.

If we want to take 10 minutes I can do some group healing. Shorter than a short rest...

Character Sheet

Baghotir continues his watch while the others investigate the chamber. He's very curious as to what's in the coffer so carefully hidden.

Loot?

He can't help but hope.

Baron Belwick Donnamoor wrote:
Smiling at his own cleverness, as well as the accolades, Belwick fails at being humble by his very expression. "Come now, Baghotir. I've no doubt any of you would have deduced this in time. It is no race to be first."

"Yes, it's no contest!" Baghotir laughs.

He guards the rear, listening for anyone coming their way.

"Good find Baron!"

Baghotir props the secret door open with the tridents, and stands guard over them as the others enter. He doesn't want the party to get locked in by some passerby.

Character Sheet

"Could be training weapons." Baghotir suggests as he continues to break spears. He doubts he'll get them all - he doesn't want to spend that much time, but he'll do what damage he can while they confer.

"Any of this stuff magical?" he inquires, having no way to test that for himself.

Character Sheet

Baghotir replies, "I agree."

He starts breaking spears and handing hammers and daggers to the group to carry away with them to deprive their enemy of at least some of their supplies.

"It'd be nice to take out more sharks, though I still worry about getting caught out." he says, though hesitatingly. The Baron has been right so far, so he's willing to continue following his steady lead.

He's ready to try the secret door too, curious what lies beyond.

Character Sheet

Baghotir shrugs, eager for battle, "We're pretty fresh, let's do it. That said, I understand your eagerness to learn more, but let's be careful we don't overdo it. There are a lot of enemies here, and we can easily be overrun if we're not extremely careful."

Baghotir prepares for battle.

Character Sheet

"Do we want to risk the stairs, or shall we return with what we know and prepare for the invasion?" Baghotir ponders.

He's very happy with what they've learned so far. It's much greater than he expected. Their magics, especially the invisibility, has been incredible.

Just in case...

"C'mon guys, I know you want vengeance, but this is an informational mission. We're here to prepare the way for vengeance. Please, join us for the next foray in which there'll be an army descending upon these bastards."

Persuasion: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

He's about as persuasive as wet lint.

Character Sheet

"Let us be cautious, and quick. They're going to notice their prison is empty and I don't want to get trapped down here or reveal this unguarded access point. They may not know it's here."

Baghotir will close the passage, and try to keep it hidden.

He'll follow the Baron west, pulling up the rear of the party and watching for guards who might come across the large group.

Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

He's too busy worrying though, to keep a good eye out as he swims along...

Character Sheet

Baghotir makes notes and continues to follow the group through the passage, thanking the prisoners for their information.

Character Sheet

Knowledge Religion: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22

He waives to Borgas as he's introduced and wonders about who he worships. He is pleased at the freeing and follows the group down the tunnel.

He'll offer his spare spear to anyone who cares to wield it. He remains near the back though - in part to make sure the freshly freed victims are OK, and in part because he can swiftly swim forward as needed.

While they move along, he'll quietly ask of the prisoners, "What have you seen down here? What can you describe? As the Baron has said, we're on a fact finding mission here - so anything you can share is helpful."

Not sure about corners and cover. If green gets an AoO if Baghotir moves, he stands his ground and attacks green. If he doesn't, he opens up the fight a little and moves to attack red.

Baghotir swings hard on the enemy, hoping to end the fight quickly!
Warhammer (magic): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
damage B: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Sadly he starts off slowly.

Character Sheet

Baghotir isn't convinced, but he joins the others in the assault! He hangs in the back as usual, for he knows just how stealthy he is - though the mithral armor helps.

Stealth: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

...though it doesn't help a lot!

Character Sheet

"I agree with your sentiment, but our goal is the destruction of this entire place - not to save one poor bastard. I'm fine stopping the torture and saving the fish, but if we do - we should then leave so the information we've gained does not die with us."

He worries about the fifty-odd enemies currently enjoying themselves. Eventually though, they'll finish the battle(s) and fill the tunnels...

Character Sheet

Baghotir stands watch as Embers heads out again to seek information for the coming assault. He stands ready with his hammer and magic helmet.

Character Sheet

"Yes, let us continue, but carefully. Though it's been some time - they might be looking more carefully for intruders now."

"Shall we invisibly search this level as we did above?"

He peers around and the sectioning, to make sure there's not some sort of alarm built in.

Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13

Character Sheet

Out of a sense of general paranoia, Baghotir will cast Prayer of Healing (10m) while the Baron casts his dome - just in case someone messes with them in the night!

Everyone heals...
Healing: 2d8 + 4 ⇒ (3, 4) + 4 = 11

He otherwise rests with the others, keeping watch as needed.

Character Sheet

"I suggest we establish a hiding place, then a short rest with some healing - followed by an invisible search. Then a long rest. We might need to fight our way out if their alarms increase patrols and the like on our departure. I think hiding in the seaweed is an excellent idea."

"I have healing for the short rest - just in case the longer rest doesn't happen, or we learn something in the invisible search that drives us on before the long rest can happen."

Baghotir is willing to do whatever the party agrees to however.

Character Sheet

Baghotir moves quickly walking down the line and begins throwing open the coffers. He'll poke around a bit, but expects they're just personal effects, and gear. So he moves more hastily than he might if he thought there was real treasure to be found.

"If we hide here, aren't they going to be on heightened alert when we surface? We'll need to be careful." he cautions, though he likes the idea. He'd rather not leave when there's a whole other level to investigate.

Still, they've gained some insights and he'd hate to lose that knowledge too. And of course they'd lose it with their deaths, so there's that.

"Hiding in the prison is a good idea though. I doubt they'll search those squalid chambers carefully - if at all."

Warhammer (magic): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20

He'll hold off with his bonus action for now. He has a dwindling supply, and he feels, despite the parties injuries, they're coming out on top at last.

He also agrees that a tactical retreat is in their best interest, but maybe not flight. If they have one more invisibility spell, it might be worth pursuing on this level before the group heads for the exit.

Baghotir nods, agreeing. He swims with haste, helping those who are slower. He stays in the rear to catch any stragglers.

Character Sheet

Baghotir tries to be a hole in the water and hopes they don't look too closely. He gives up the surprise attack to hide.

Character Sheet

Baghotir remains on guard, tensely waiting for the next wave of attackers. "Pretty soon they're gonna figure out we're here and come in force. I say we do another invisible foray, if we can, and make for high ground. Might be we have another one of them scouting parties - which would be OK."

"But yeah, then we should leave and report as is our task."

He admits, at least to himself, that a part of him wants to go down there and see how many he can kill. Damn fish, so evil and cold. But he's wiser than to throw his life away in a burst of glory.

Character Sheet

Baghotir tries to make the second row, but as he can swim to the front as needed, it might make sense for him to be in the back - covering their rear. For it might be safe now, but once they start moving around in the tunnels, things might come readily from behind.

So he likely takes up the rear, with an eye to the front given his mobility.

Baghotir takes one more minute to smile - his grin shining like his new mithral armor. Sigh.

He eventually moves to the front of the line, "Aye, my helmet lets me swim like a fish. I'll take point and keep an eye on things while you lot move up more slowly."

Baghotir slips into the water, gripping his warhammer and looking for trouble.

Character Sheet

Baghotir exhales when it becomes clear he could keep the Mithral plate armor. He's a little dizzy from holding his breath so long - and the excitement of the find.

I've lost track of time, but if there's time, Baghotir changes.
