Ayame kept close to the caravan, and gave people what magic she had when they needed it. When it came to the wilds she was not what they called an expert.
Ten hours?! Ours is only 5... I do need to figure out if we want to use genie+ or not... My husband had never been so I'm not sure what he'll want to do and I haven't been since I was small.
"I must say I do prefer not traveling in wet clothes." Ayame said. "So getting this over with now and warming by the fires is my vote too."
Oh I have been!! I keep Disney Food Blog on my YouTube list and keep up to date with everything. They're great! They do more than food obviously.
Ayame smiled as Tahata agreed with her, and when he left she look to Maitoh whom she had cuddle up to. "You can go rest too if you wish." She told the wolf with a nod to where Tahata walked off to. ------------- "This is Ulf's area of wisdom." Ayame reminded Tahata. "If he says we can do it then I trust him." She beamed at smile at their guide. However the water was indeed cold and when stopped she tried to help warm the animals, and poor Maitoh who was too large to ride in the wagons now.
"While I agree, it isn't like we can control what we find in these lands... I mean what would we have done differently really? We couldn't have left that Witchfire there else others would fall to it." Ayame pointed out as she settled in next to Maitoh.
I go in September! I'm excited! Have fun! We'll just get to RP a bit!
"I am out voted, I get it." Ayame said with a shrug. When they got back Ayame went through their bags and found something. Going to her friends she said. "I thought I might find them as Durian never drank on, but these potions will help with what the Witchfire did to you." She explained as she held up two potions of lesser restoration. "Here." Ayame said as she softly smiled at Tahata and handed him one of the potions.
It's the holidays mate, they're always crazier.

"Well, I mean we did sleep at that place with the werebear we killed..." Ayame told them. "I just thought it might be nice to be out of the cold for a night... oh well" She added. "I'll go help Tahata." With that Ayame left the cabin and headed to join Tahata and Maitoh in checking the other cabins. "We're divided..." She sighed.
"Well, like I said we should bring the caravan here. The walls are strong and it would keep heat better." Ayame pointed out.
"I don't believe that Witchfires come back... At least not from the books I've read. They are nasty things... You know, I think I might write a book about us. What do you all think?" Ayame asked with a smile. Then she cleared her throat and added "Checking the area, right." when she realized she got ahead of herself again.
"Here Loren let me look." Ayame said as she turned her magic vision on.
"So we're not going to rest here?" Ayame asked.
"We could use these to resupply!" Ayame said please with the small find. "Should we bring the others here? Let I mean it is a cabin and I'm sure they'd like to get out of the cold."
"Will you all be okay?" Ayame asked nervously. The young bard's eyes was shifting between her friends. Some of them had taken the fire of the witchfire, and she wasn't sure if anything she had would help. "Maybe... Maybe I should have... Gotten different gifts..." Ayame muttered. She cleared her throat, "Yes maybe... But the next one might hold people in trouble, and we got a seriously dangerous creature out of harms way for others who would take this path. My friends this isn't something to turn your nose up at. We carried the day! ... Right?"
"They, come from hags, or witches." Ayame said with a sigh as she returned Suishen to his sheath, "When one dies with a malicious plot still incomplete or on the very rare occations too horridly tenacious to succumb to death, the energies of these wicked old crones sometimes spawn witchfires. She likely looked as we saw her in real life. Though to be fair the grotesque undead energy makes them look young and attractive... Most of the time..." She explained. "We got lucky though, normally they have will'o'wisps around. This one didn't."
"Box her in and hit her hard!" Ayame shouted as she drew Suishen and ran in to take up a place between the building and the witchfire. It would take all she could to get in the way, but at least it wouldn't run back into the building.
"Oh no you don't!" Ayame snapped, placing her thumb and index together she brought them up to her lips and blew softly. Golden shimmering flex flew from her fingers and lips filling the area all around where the witchfire had been.
Oh oh! I've got glitter dust! It's a 10 by 10 cub! So if I know roughly where she was I can aim a fair guess at where she might be.
"She's just going to keep moving! We need to box her in!" Ayame shouted as she came around the bend. "We have to keep pushing!" With that Ayame screamed out with magic once more.
With the fight turning into an annoying draw it seemed Ayame began trying to even the odds.
"Do, Ra, Mi!" Ayame hummed out making three other forms of her.
That really sucks but I do understand having too much on your plate. Recently I had much the same issue, and was very thankful for the slow pace. As to what can be done, I am fine with waiting as I have a few other games that are the same at the moment. Also if you'd like to ensure the game remains in active status and everyone is up for it after the combat the characters can just talk. Great thing about PBPs is thousands of posts can mean only minutes to an hour in game. But yeah I'm fairly go with the flow.
"Oh no you don't!" Ayame shouted before she ran around the house and once more screamed at the witchfire.
"Magic!" Ayame answered. "Magic is pretty much it, your weapons must have magical enchantments upon them or nothing will happen. She's incorporeal, so it'll just pass through her. Oh and don't use fire, I mean I felt that was fairly obvious seeing as she is a witchfire and all but now it might not be easy for most to pick up on." Ayame answered Tahata. "Which also means, Loren! Ice her!"
"Tahata! Durian! Please be careful, that thing will sap away your strength! So lets take it down quickly!" Ayame called out as she moved closer, up behind Tahata.
"Oh s%&$... That's a Witchfire... " Ayame shouts after she got a good look at the creature. "This is going to be tough!" Ayame added, "They're undead! Most things pass right through them! Loren, you me magic! Lots of magic!" With that Ayame let out an ear-piercing scream.
Ayame, who had taken her place at the very back since she had arrived so late, tried to look over her friends. However it was hard enjoy for the short bard to even see over Durian. "What's going on? Is no one home?"
"Wait for me!" Ayame called as she made her way through the snow. The short bard had apparently be slowed by the snow around them. "I uha... kinda got caught in the snow...." Ayame muttered embarrassed at the fact.
Okay! So we closed on our house and spent all weekend moving in, the internet should be getting turned on Wednesday and my computer desk is arriving Saturday. So with luck, and skill and maybe some more elbow grease and I'll be back to active status the beginning of next week... Oh man... This weekend was hell! XD
"Would normal hunters attack? Surely not?" Ayame asked curiously. It wasn't a shock the Bard from the city wouldn't understand too much. "However it wouldn't hurt to hear news of the area. Those who live here would likely have information we could use no Ulf? With you and any information we'd be better off yes?"
With the others attacking, Ayame's voice pierced through the field as her singing filled their hearts.
Ayame quickly moved up to join her friends.
I realized that a few of my games didn't the the post, but my grandfather passed away. His funeral is tomorrow, so I'm going to try and post on Saturday... Taking a day
"Actually with magic Nature doesn't always win!" Ayame pointed out as she held up a wand. "However, the less we have to fight the elements the better. I think our choice should depend on how well supplied we are, if we get stuck without food there will be little we can gather and I don't like what that'll lead to..." "Maybe taking the risk of more chances to stop is worth the risk? It would mean we're less likely to run out of food." Ayame mentioned with a sigh. "I say I agree, we risk it. Take the primary route, a chance to keep ourselves better supplied, even if it is more well known. We'll just have to be more on edge."
"I thought we where in the off season." Ayame said as she looked to Loren. "That is why we had such a hard time finding a guide." "Though I am glad we did, because it allowed us to save you Ulf!" She bard said with a smile to the guide. "Oh, and I agree we shouldn't go looking for trouble. Live and let live works well. Like with that Winter Wolf Skyjin."
"I'll make room on the wagon for the food!" Ayame said as she skipped over to move some things aside and find something to store the food in properly. However she paused when she saw the large winged creature above them.
"Loren, this might be one of the times to use your gift." Ayame said as she drew Suishen and moved in.
"Then we need to be faster than we look!" Ayame said before she snapped her fingers and the whole team felt a bit more, jittery.
Ayame jumped off from the place she sat and moved to help with the canvas, though her short height made it not so easy on her. "Tahata, do you think you and Matioh would feel comfortable enough to act as a scout?" Ayame asked. "I can use one of the wands on you and if Matioh can carry more than one person you could take extra back up."
"I guess I always thought that if I learned all the languages I'd be able to do what my family never could... Communicate." Ayame said with a small sighed as she looked over to Amieko. After a moment she looked back to Tahata. "But I did find that I have always been good with speech... Wish I had been good enough to keep my family together." "She didn't even come to say goodbye..." Ayame told him before looking back to her sister. "I'm sorry. You didn't ask for this." She half nervously laughed before changing the subject. "You're a very good teacher you know!" ------------ "I'm not saying we go looking, but if they stumble onto us, anything anyone knows about them might be helpful in talking them down... No?" Ayame asked their guide as much as the group.
"Would we be able to speak peacefully to the giants?" Ayame asked when Ulf was done talking. "Or would they be hostel?" "Oh! Are there any songs you'd like to hear Ulf? If I know it I'll sing it, and don't worry about if it is in another language. I know six in all... So hopefully it'd be one of those?" Ayame laughed with a smile.
During the travel, Ayame threw herself into the Shoanti language any time Tahata had free time and was willing to teach... also it helped that she got to cuddle with Maitoh during the lessons. The bard had become very fond of the wolf... and really the group as a whole. It was nice to have friends.
"If you don't mind," Ayame spoke up. "I'd very much like to search the hut." She told them. "Not to take anything mind you, but to see if it has been used lately and if it might have maps or something we could copy and use."
"Maybe it lost the beast and thus had to settle here?" Ayame theorized as she looked with Durian at this cabin. "However the fact that there are no creatures to pull it, it makes me think this is abandoned." Ayame pointed out. "After all if you can't move it then it is no longer useful."
"My father didn't allow pets..." Ayame answered as she set her koto aside and cuddled into Maitoh's warm fur. "My father was... very... controling." She sighed. "Power comes from you ancestors? What kind? Do you know?" Ayame asked rather curiously.
Through journey Ayame sang and entertained her friends and the caravan as a whole. But it was during their down time that Ayame spoke up to tell stories to her friends around their fires. One night she was leaned up against Maitoh with his now much larger form, her koto humming along with the tune. "You know Tahata, I've been meaning it ask, is it normal for wolves to get this large?" Ayame asked curiously. "Because I can use Maitoh as a pillow... and I won't lie I do enjoy it." She told him as she laid her head back on the wolf. "Durian, tell me is there a pass time you enjoy?" Ayame asked, looking for an idea on how to pass the time. "I could sing the whole way but my voice would be very upset." Ayame said with a small laugh. Some time during the travels Ayame sought out Loren. "My dear Loren, might I ask a few questions about your knowledge of magic?"

"Agreed! To leave now yes Ulf?" Ayame called to their guide.
So, I got a bit of bad news today, my grandfather is in the hospital. His lung keeps filling with fluid and they found a mass at the bottom. The filling of his lung isn't treatable... and we're not sure about the mass yet. But they have begun to speak about hospice care... his time is limited... So it is very likely I might vanish for a few days, if that be to help take care of him or to be there to say goodbye. |
