![]() So is there a break in the system I cant think of from lifting the ability score requirement? It just seems... pointless. I cant imagine how a ten strength wizard spending a feat (and locking himself out of any other archetypes until he spends three other feats) to use a longsword and half plate is that disastrous. Even if you can just retrain them in later it still means you don't have your character concept started right away and... it's just needlessly complicated. ![]()
![]() I really hope the generic backgrounds are more... generic. I don't see why blacksmith has to be one, because then you need a background for any kind of craftsman background. A general one that let's you pick out different skill feats and trained skills would save a lot of space and not make anyone have to wait for a another book that has "stable-hand". The stat boosts seem variable enough to not be a problem. If someone refuses to take blacksmith just because they really really don't want to take strength or intelligence despite the free boost then they can live with that. ![]()
![]() So no mention of multiplayer as a stretch goal and no actual stretch goals listed past the initial 500k one that I don't care about. But for 140 dollars a miniature (doesn't specify whether it's one companion or any companion, hopefully you can get Amiri), a cloth map of the Stolen Lands, an *actual* Pathfinder adventure, and a poster by Wayne Reynolds? That might be worth it. Edit: Apparently MP is still on the table as a stretch goal. I will wait to see if that actually happens and if the Kickstarter kickstarts close to it I will totally back it. ![]()
![]() To be fair, Erastil's original Kingmaker article was uh, not friendly towards the deity. It got retconned hard though but I think it's fair considering most of the problematic stuff Paizo did was early on (the sexist Erastil era, pretty much). I like Mana Wastes too. Honestly, with the exception of RK and Absalom I'd prefer adventures in all of those areas to the places you don't like as much. Still, Mummy's Mask is in Osirion, and I'd prefer a Mummy's Mask crpg to Kingmaker or a completely original adventure (For the first game. I'm cool with original stories but this is the first real step into video game territory and it should be as Paizoriffic as possible). Re: Glorious Reclamation I only got to run the first book and read the others and they are certainly not on the same moral level as the Cult (I'd still call them LG as a whole) but I wouldn't say they were in a completely positive light. It actually annoyed me because I wanted a purely evil campaign and it felt like letting the Glorious Reclamation win *wouldn't* have been a victory for the forces of good. The world would be a worse place if they won how it is presented in the Adventure Path (And even just their attempts lead to some pretty bad stuff happening independent of the evil the PCs commit) ![]()

Wait, was it confirmed no multiplayer at all, or did they just mean it was a campaign and not an MMO? ![]()
![]() I sure hope the pathfinder iconic would make sense in one of the most iconic pathfinder adventure paths. My last hold out is multiplayer because honestly if it's a single player game with no iconic companions and a system that barely resembles the actual game then what am I playing it for? River Kingdoms? ![]()
![]() Rysky wrote: Depending on your actions you could be at odds with them at the beginning (and at the first part you are basically taking the law into your own hands) but I believe if I remember it had more to do with the Ranger archetype that gave you a Hippogriff companion at level 2. Oh yeah personally I'm not a huge fan of flight in general let alone letting a PC have a constant source of it at second level, but the player's guide blog post for the anniversary edition said they would be a poor choice because of their role in the adventure but from my reading I don't see why their role in the adventure would make them a poor choice. It seems about as good a choice as just being a Korvosan Guard which the blog *does* recommend. As for the conflict at the beginning that seems to be an issue any lawful character could have. ![]()
![]() I see James Jacobs recommends not playing a Sable Company Marine (or Hellknight) but on my skim through I could not see why. The Sable Company is disbanded late in the adventure and several high-ranking members or imprisoned or killed. It really sounds like it would just create more motivation for the player and the only drawback is they would know the layout of the headquarters. Is there some major problem I'm missing? Has anyone ran or played a game with Sable Marine PC? Did any significant changes to the plot have to be made? ![]()

Charisma is both force of personality and appearance. That's from the core rulebook. Yes, there are creatures that are hideous but have a strong personality, thus they have a positive charisma score. Yes, Lashunta women are described as charismatic and commanding. They are also described as ideal and beautiful. Lashunta women are not an example of physically unattractive creatures that have high charisma because of their strong personalities. Bringing up the existence of charismatic physically unattractive creatures is irrelevant to criticism of Lashunta women because that is not what they are. ![]()
![]() SwampTing wrote: Alot of female elves are drawn to be physically attractive. They have no charisma bonus. Your point? "Though the women look like idealized elves or humans -save for the twitching antennae sprouting from their foreheads- their men are squat, hairy, and broad-shouldered, with a fierce and confrontational demeanor." Lashunta are also described as "beautiful and commanding". So I was wrong, the Lashunta women are described as having a commanding presence. I was not wrong in that they are also described as being physically attractive, and it's not just pretty artwork. They look attractive and act attractive, and that is why they have +2 Charisma. Of course it should be noted that this was in the Inner Sea Bestiary and omitted from People of the Stars, so it is entirely possible it was retconned out. ![]()
![]() I guess I just don't think having the females be the bright colored ones very subversive. Different to real lizards, sure. Not very different when in gaming bright colorful tends to equal female and drab solid colors tends to equal male. Unless the final race is super off the walls crazy awesome this will be my first character if I ever break away from DM'ing, because as a half-orc and Turian enthusiast this seems like my jam. ![]()
