![]() Does anyone else think that animal companions are less attractive in epic campaigns than others with fewer build points, and therefore the classes that have them don't scale up? I'm obviously thinking of the animal companion as a "shard" of the character. The power relationship between characters and animal companions gets skewed. ![]()
![]() My character has racial natural armor (not a bonus from a magic item). 1. Is that lost when using wild shape? I'd think so, but the mechanics as described for the spell and the polymorph section suggest that it's kept. 2. If I have the feat improved natural armor, does it apply to my new form? I'm confused on that one, I'd like to think it does; it would be fair anyway. ![]()
![]() How would you resolve stupid tricks with a whip, such as take out a pipe, a cigar or a cigarette from someone's mouth (without hurting that person), remove buttons from a vest or cut the rope from which pants hang? This character was raised in a circus :D. All I can figure is that Improved Disarm should be involved somewhere. ![]()
![]() The intent of this thread is to keep track of a list of questions for which people desire an official ruling, because the debate can't be resolved satisfactorily by player discussion. I am starting with the ones below. Please add more, BUT DO NOT DEBATE HERE -- instead post a link to the debate thread (I can't figure out how to make the links active though, the html tags get escaped). 1. Can you disarm a shield?
2. Can a monk take Greater <combat maneuver name> at level 7, as it seems the iconic monk, Sajan, must have done?
3. Whirlwind, combat maneuvers and AoOs

![]() Per RAW, can you disarm a shield? If you succeed by 10 or more, can you disarm both the main weapon and a shield? I don't see why not but I was told that I couldn't do it "just like that" (with a disarm CM succeeding by 10 or more over the CMD). Sounds weird to me. This isn't about going over a GM's ruling in his campaign (which it isn't anyway), this is about finding out what the RAW say. ![]()
![]() The printed copy of Pathfinder core rule book differs from the PDF. In Chapter 3, page 53, "Animal Feats", the printed copy contains "Weapon Finesse" but the PDF contains an empty space between commas: "Toughness, , and Weapon Focus" where "Weapon Finesse" should be. There's nothing about it in the errata, and supposedly the PDF is more up-to-date than the printed copy. It looks like a typo, but is "Weapon Finesse" an available feat or not? I emailed customer.service@paizo.com but I'm not sure that's the right place where to ask about typos or for reporting them. ![]()
![]() 1. Would that combo really allow me to make trip CMs against everyone within 20' (45' diameter circle), and apply Greater trip as well (all the tripped opponents provoke AoOs from anyone threatening them)? 2. Does this description apply to all my AoOs, only my AoOs granted by combat reflexes, or doesn't apply (e.g., using an off-hand weapon to make the AoOs)?

![]() What if there's a second creature next to the first. Can you combine Tumble (Acrobatics) with an Overrun to avoid AoOs from the second creature due to your movement? Or for that matter, can you use Tumble (Acrobatics) while moving before and after an Overrun to avoid AoOs from an overrunned creature that simply let you pass and can't knock down? ![]()
![]() I found the following guide useful: http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/SRD:Overrun I'm not sure how much of it carries over to PF though. Essentially, based on it I believe that: 1-You can overrun opponents at any point during your move, and if successful keep moving the full distance. You don't need Spring Attack, although SA may help avoid AoOs (e.g. if the opponent has reach). 2-As long as opponents let you move through their square, you can keep overrunning more opponents because those that let you pass don't count against your standard action. Only when one of them doesn't want to let you move through, is the standard action used. Even though Improved Overrun states that "Targets of your overrun attempt may not chose to avoid you", it would make sense for a GM to allow a player to not use that feature of the feat if so desired (e.g., to move as far as possible) because having a feat should not be worse than not having it. 3-As part of a charge, I suppose you can keep moving in a straight line up to double your speed total, after making an overrun. However the overrun (and associated AoO if you have Greater Overrun) replaces the attack you would have made at the end of the charge. Spring Attack doesn't apply within a charge. I'd love to have a confirmation that my understanding as stated above is correct... ![]()
![]() Seeing as a monk already has Double Slice (in effect), and Improved Two-Weapon Fighting (for fists) by the time the monk gets a BAB of +11, why not rend? It would apply only to fists of course. I suppose not since a monk doesn't have off-hand attacks per se? I'm not saying the monk needs it, I'm just curious. One could argue that the increased damage/level sort of represents a "rend". How about Two-Weapon Defense? ![]()
![]() I'm wondering because in 3.5 we already have trouble finding someone to play "cleric medic" and nobody in our group wants to do it all the time. Since the other classes are to be so much more interesting (sorcerer, rogue, fighter...) in Pathfinder and with the talk of giving only medium armor to clerics, who's "going to get stuck" playing the cleric? Let's make this a poll... Who is reading this and still planning to start a cleric in the new Pathfinder rules? Maybe I'm missing something... How do you make being a cleric less of a thankless job running around trying to touch everyone to keep them alive? We Bee Goblins has not participated in any online campaigns. |
