Humanoid Monster Races Finally Get Development

5/5

This is really what the revisited products should be like: full of extra inspiration and details to make a GM's like easier. Why buy a product that just regurgitates what I already know about a monster race?

This focuses on many of the humanoid monster races and fleshes them out, something Paizo really needed to do. I'm hoping they do this with many of the other races that are sentient.

This book is well worth your money if you plan on using monsters as characters in your games and not just target practice.

Now this is a Revisited book

5/5

When I look at one of Paizo's revisited books, this is the one I use as a measuring stick. This is partly because the monsters are so weird they really need a revisited book to flesh them out.

Cloakers are just...fantastic. Honestly,I had never thought about them as characters before, just flying manta-mutants that needed killing. Now I would actually have the PCs meet them as characters and not just animals.

Roper is actually terrifiying, not just goofy and eye-rolling silly.

Shambling Mound even awesome.

In short, pick this one up, because you won't regret it.

Missing Creative Spark

3/5

I get the feeling the writers weren't terribly inspired by the fey, because there's nothing really interesting here you couldn't learn on wikipedia. No real striking culture features, no talking about fate and what it means to be fey.

I feel they missed some key opportunities to explore high concept ideas like, "do fey have souls?" by just going with straight myth, and not challenging the idea that maybe it's just bigotry. After all, fey in myth are believed to be linked to old gods of conquered or forgotten people. If that's not a rollicking loaded gun of ideas for major spiritual conflict/politics along side the entire fey court concept (which is just vaguely mentioned), I don't know what is.

The things that did work for the book were Gremlins, which seem to have been given more thought and flavor than the other fey. Also the character blocks at the end had more flavor than the rest of the sections. I think this might have worked better as an unleashed product, due to the fact some of the types of fey used are very well known (dryad, nymph).

Finally some sexy guys

5/5

The number of effete younger male aristocratic character minis is far less than it should be. Great stuff for female players!

With Both Parts Hell Has Never Been so Fun

5/5

If you're going to buy this product, do yourself a favor and pick up the second half. Together these supplements are one of the best supplement products created for the campaign setting. They give you a clear view of hell and the agenda and politics within. They go over each of the lords of hell in detail and will actually make you want a campaign there.

Great ideas skimmed over too quickly

2/5

I'm huge fan of planar gaming, so I was hoping we'd be getting something meaty. Sadly this product is too short for it's own good. You end up feeling like you're reading a prologue to a book where the rest of the book after the prologue is missing. This is an introduction and that's it.

The ideas are great, but they're just skimmed over. This supplement needed to be far more detailed and meaty than it is to be useful. Over all it's just not worth the money as it currently is.

The basics

5/5

Since no one's added info for this: This is a Large model. It comes in 6 separate pieces, and yes, you will want to pin the mini. The base is by far the best built-in base I've been from Reaper.

Essential Tiefling Mini

5/5

It's hard to find tiefling minis, much less aesthetically appealing ones. The details are really wonderful, and I like that the horns aren't ridiculously huge. Whether or not you have the adventure path, this is a just a very useful mini to have.

Great Mini

5/5

The detail on Lini is amazing for such a tiny figure.
