I'm an old Pathfinder fan finally converting after the last few months of being told how much cooler Pathfinder 2nd is then all of the other kids at the playground and went to buy all of it that was released when I ran into a few weird problems.
1. This place is set up like a forum. Finding anything relevant is difficult. Some links go to something that seems like what I want but isn't, and others aren't really labeled fully as 2nd edition products, making me kind, a slightly older dude with some eye issues, have a bit of trouble. More over, the Subscription thing is pretty badly explained. It seems to imply that you can get prior issues somehow by the line 'never worry about missing a release' and it also seems to think that people are stupid. In the comments, there is literally an employee saying 'Hey, we didn't like the idea of you being able to sub once a year (because we don't want to make it cheaper like yearly subscriptions usually are) so we've removed the option. Probably because the cost of the books, despite not seemingly deviating, is not set and you don't pay a fixed fee every month. Very, very shady s!+!. Just set it to 30% of 19.99 a month and accept that the digital products that cost you nothing to reproduce is only going to make you an amount of profit that is egregious instead of leaving yourself open to throw in a 50 dollar book every now and again and making other peoples bank accounts?
2. I was willing to and probably going to pay it (the other issues are now as much a factor as this one), but I have never understood why a company thinks a digital product should be worth anywhere near the cost of a physical product. The prices should at least be halved and the lack of any decrease in price over the years is also fairly bad. I'm willing to give Paizo a lot of credit for being a largely honest company that isn't very large and doesn't make much, but there was literally no point toward this price tag other then 'even more profit' and that kind of mentality needs to go. How many more people would be jumping into 2e if it were cost effective to do it digitally? I know of at least three table groups (mine) that would have.
3. The cart does not feature a total or subtotal. This is weird because it used to. So either a chance accidentally removed it, or this is another weird 'profit' choice. Looking a lot more like Wizards when I don't get told how much I'm spending until after I enter my card in the process. The fact that I can skip ahead is also not apparent, so that's just a flimsy excuse. Online companies do this a lot to confuse people and keep them from thinking about their costs. Again, highly scummy.
I was legitimately in on this. Paizo definitely framed themselves in the public eyes as being different. But having BEEN ON THIS SITE BEFORE I know some of these changes are intentional and are made by people who think exactly the same way as Wizards.
I don't know how much in digital goods I was going to buy from Paizo, since it always had some decent third party releases too, but I can tell you how much I'm going to buy now. I'm afraid I'm going to need your card info first though.

A brief explanation of where I'm coming from. First, I've read as much as I could of what people would suggest changing (I've got several threads and blog posts saved as PDFs for reference), and that's even from this site. Even so, this will be my fiance's first Adventure Path. So I'm hoping to really make it special.
Second, my fiance will be soloing it. Unless there's a huuuuge issue with mechanics I'm not overly concerned with them. I've been playing for about fifteen years now (3.5 and on) and I usually make adjustments on the fly if I've over or undertuned something. It's not a question of whether she'll be soloing it. She'll be fine. My only concern is really the story. So if there's any part of the story you think should be jazzed up or could be fleshed out way more, please share your ideas!
Third, I'll be replacing all mention of Serpent Folk with Yaun'ti, cause they were a favorite race of mine back in the day even though I only had a few experiences with them. I've really upped their involvement throughout the game too. With that said, my plans are pretty vague. So if anyone has any ideas on where to expand their roles, all the better!
Ideas I've had?
-The second book has a lot of busy work with several factions. Would be possible to make it a more political thing, with the factions all ending up racing to the ruins for various reasons? Could they be fleshed out enough to make a (not quite wacky) grand race sort of experience?
-Again with the second book, I plan on throwing Yaun'ti into the mix. They're goal is to get to the ruins first, and maybe acquire some mercenary help, but mostly be first. So they'll be stirring the pot too. How best can they do that? (Remember, they are going to be waaay more prevalent then the Serpent Folk apparently are in this path from book 2 on, so not much is too much.)
-There's a part of the path where the players are expected to basically slaughter their way through it and conquer everything. I saw not a few blog posts suggesting both battle and diplomacy being options mixed together, sometimes leaving one to be the obvious choice. One of my hopes was a smaller faction of non-crazed Yaun'ti who have long since moved on from their dead god and evil ways, who want to stop this, and perhaps a neutral faction of said Yaun'ti who are happy with the way things are now but may need to be swayed to assist or at least not hinder my fiance. Could either of these options work in tandem with the conquering and slaughter?

I have been a fan of paizo and pathfinder since I was a kid. It's been years, but I finally have a chance to get back into it now thanks to this horrible epidemic. Yet, despite having money I can finally spend and time to use it, I can't give it to you. Every time I tried the payment method field would be cleared and it would tell me there was no valid payment method. And from what I've seen of past discussions, the only way to give you that info is over a phone line that is probably going to be too busy right now or over an email server which is basically like handing out my card info.
I wanted to buy literally hundreds of dollars worth of stuff, maybe more, and really dive into this game that I love.
So I have to ask... Why, when my fiance who runs a small business off of her iphone can easily accept varying cards without issue, is Paizo living in the fricking early 2000's when it comes to their payment method?
To be clear, I don't want my order to go through anymore. I found another site that sells something of similar quality for slightly more that actually took my money the first time I tried to give it to them. I am just leaving this here as a heads up that I spent nearly 500 dollars on a competitor of yours today because your payment system is so old and broken it can't do the one thing it was designed too.

Very recently (as in a week ago) my friend and I started down the path of, well, the adventure paths. I have long been a fan and player of Pathfinder but never had the money for the more expansive things involved with Golarion, like Adventure Path's. That changed. I'm currently going through a Solo Adventure of Rise of the Runelords (so please don't spoil that either) and my friend is DMing it for me. She fell in love with Ameiko in particular (my character ended up staying at the Rusty Dragon during the events of book 1 and 2) and there is now a discussion about who will run who through the Jade Regent.
So with the lead up out of the way I want to know one simple thing. Is it possible to modify the Jade Regent (without significantly changing or even breaking the story) to make Ameiko a PC character and the main character in it for a Solo Game? (One player, one PC. Don't worry about the challenge, we're pretty seasoned gamers and enjoy it. I'm only worried about story elements.) The reason I want non-spoiler answers is because if the answer is yes, I'm running it, and my friend can't read the Adventure Path's. If the answer is no, she's running it, and I can't read it. So we can't actually read it ourselves to figure this out without potentially spoiling things for someone who might be playing it.
As far as what I define 'significant' changes or breaks, anything like having to rewrite an entire adventure path, or create an entirely new NPC to take Ameiko's place, would be significant. If I can modify the adventure path with a few different plot hooks (to get the player going in the right direction) and some minor NPC's, that's easy enough, but the point is that we want to keep Ameiko's role in the story largely intact. And somewhere in between would take more work but I wouldn't mind
So, what do you think? Is it possible? If not, why not? And please refrain from spoilers as much as possible. Thank you!
