I don't think demoralize has a critical failure effect. I always just flavour it as the PC looking really stupid.

GM - and players - remind me what happens when there's a critfail on the monster Grab/Knockdown action. Does the monster suffer the critfail effects of a failed grab/athletics check?

Ok, made a post under the assumption that my No Escape reaction activated (since commanders give me an extra reaction to perform a tactic that does not eat into my own) and that my temp hp ate some of that critical damage. If the No Escape reaction did not in fact proc, let me know and I'll redo my turn.

Actually that's a -13 overall because I have 5 temp hp from Rage! Also, since the lion took a Stride action backwards, Amiri's No Escape allows her to follow along until it stops its movement. I'll take my turn assuming that Amiri was in front of the lion from Action 1. Also also, GM please have mercy stop rolling natural 20s.

Amiri takes the bite in her stride, smirking as it only bloodies her. As the Orange lion retreats, she locks eyes with it and Strides forward, mirroring its movements until she is squaring up against it. Her glare intensifies as she attempts to Demoralize it.

Amiri adjusts her grip and holds her large bastard sword in one hand. It was too big to be called a sword. Massive, thick, heavy, and far too rough. Indeed, it was a heap of raw iron. In her now free hand, she lights a torch.

"I'll scout ahead. Kaya, with me." She saunters into the cave.

Amiri doesn't notice anything unusual about the bandit. "Help us bury the dead, then leave and never come back." She says to the Black "Bandit".

She helps bury the dead with Qiqig.

Amiri sighs with relief as Qigig treats her wounds. "Ahh...That is so much better. Hey White Hawk, would your Deity be upset with all the killing I did? I'm not gonna stop now, but just want to know." She asks.

At the camp, Amiri is exhausted from all the running and killing she did. She takes a break and meditates over her sword, contemplating the nature of her Rage.

Amiri knows it's anathema to Gorum to kill a surrendering foe so she, reluctantly, holds back. Her rage still smoulders for a while, so she takes the time to Demoralize the Black Bandit.

"I'll have your skull for Gorum, fools! RAAAGH!" Amiri screams as she flies into a Rage!

Giant Instinct: You can use a weapon built for a Large creature if you are Small or Medium (both normally and when raging). If you're not Small or Medium, you can use a weapon built for a creature one size larger than you. You gain access to this larger weapon, which can be of any weapon type otherwise available at character creation. It has the normal Price and Bulk for a weapon of its size. When wielding such a weapon in combat, increase your additional damage from Rage from 2 to 6, but you have the clumsy 1 condition because of the weapon's unwieldy size.

Again, she Sudden Charges into the nearest bandit - the unfortunate Green bandit this time - and cuts off their head with a single slash! As the body hits the floor, she screams her appreciation to Nat as his Guiding Shot helped her strike land true.

Amiri nods in acknowledgement to Qigiq. Always nice to have him watching your back! She bites back her rage for a little bit longer as she runs all the way to Purple I counted 70 out of my max speed of 75 feet, making sure to get around the covering rocks. She Sudden Charges the bandit and Strikes with what looks like a good blow!

I'm doing my part to speed things up! I'm taking a leaf out of the book of a Fighter in my campaign and just pre-rolling reactions in case they happen. For instance, I've prerolled a Strike Hard in case Natalu asks me to do so.

Also Amiri just posted. The Blue cart was extinguished and she runs up to Blue to hopefully smack him.

Amiri attempts to put out the fire ravaging the Blue cart by spinning her sword around really fast, whipping up a strong wind!

She succeeds! She points her large bastard sword menacingly towards Blue.

"You know, if you wanted a fight, you just had to ask. Now I have a burning desire to take your head. SKULLS FOR GORUM!" She roars as she Sudden Charges towards the Blue bandit, who hasn't had the chance to act yet. She attempts to run using 50 feet of movement in total around the cover the bandit is hiding behind to get adjacent to him and Strike with her large Bastard Sword! Hopefully, avoiding the cover that way.

Oh, uh, I know I said I took my hands off the sword, but I'd like to make it clear that by default, Amiri has her hands on her sword. Especially since we are hostile territory right now. I'll deal with the clumsy 1 hopefully with Guardian support. Didn't think this was worth making a post IC over, but just setting it out there.

Amiri only has Acrobatics and Athletics. Both are not best in the party. She will do one of each check, leaving 2 checks available for each for those better at those skills to do (Qigiq and Kaya respectively).

Anathema: Fail to take up a challenge of strength.

Amiri ignores Muckmuck and his defeatist pleading until he calls her weak.

"Weak? ME! You insult me, goblin. I will demonstrate my strength to you right now." She roars at him, spitting on the ground with indignation. Observing the other goblins, she moves to the biggest tree in sight and attempts to climb it faster and higher than anyone else. She does so in record time.

Athletics: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29

Having thoroughly demonstrated her strength, she also demonstrates her natural agility by rolling around on the ground at the speed of sound. She, reluctantly, puts away her sword so that she doesn't make herself clumsy while doing so.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23

She does a decent job of rolling around. Covered in mud, dust and dirt, she yells out to the goblins in a loud, booming voice.

"Are you not entertained? We may be Far From Home, but we are protecting YOU right here, right now! I, Amiri, will knock all your enemies down!"

Give me a lesser healing potion. Can't use any talisman these days (thanks Remaster and concentrate requirement).

I'm pretty sure Hampering Strikes works off your reach and your movement, not mine. The shoving thing might be an issue but I'm pretty sure it's RAW that you can choose to follow after a Shove. The Fighter in my other game has been shoving a lot so I think by osmosis, I know how Shove works. Shame about not using the Taunt. I really think the +2 is too much and should be removed if it's going to make people not want to use the defining class feature.

It's equivalent to the AC penalty as most Barbarians and grants everyone else a bonus to AC.

Yeah, well you don't really want your dedicated "tank" to have AC on the level of the barbarian. If your tank is getting critically hit often they can't do very much tanking, can they.

Barbarians defensively offset their -1 to AC with having legendary fort saves, 12 hp per level and situational DR. Guardians have the situational DR down pat but none of the other stuff that makes Barbarians tanky.

I see you picked Hampering Sweeps. That is one feat I want to see in practice. In theory it could be super busted as I could Step into melee, Strike and Step out, leaving enemies unable to Strike me. Taunt wouldn't even need to be used in that scenario to mitigate my damage.

My predictions for the playtest is that Commander looks incredibly strong as it gives the party mobility and reactive strikes at will. As a Barbarian, those are two things I need. Guardian seems much weaker - I don't like that its Taunt mechanic is a saving throw and that it gives a +2 to hit them. It will make them rather frail in practice, I think. I hope to be proved wrong.

1) Character Intro
Amiri is a female human of Kellids decent from the Six Bears tribe in the Realm of the Mammoth Lords. She is dressed in worn, battle scarred Hide Armour. Most people when they meet her are cowed by the enormous bastard sword she wields, which is as tall as she is. They are further intimidated by the permanent scowl on her face, which barely holds back the bubbling fury stewing within her.

2) Background Info
Well, I'll stick to the original backstory.
Her Nature and Survival are both Trained and at a +5.

3) Troup Role
Amiri is the group muscle. Her desire to always one-up everyone around her and be the strongest person in the room makes her perfect for the job. While she acknowledges that the leader of the Troupe doesn't need to be the strongest, the best way to command Amiri is to convince her that the commands will facilitate her one desire - cracking skulls for Gorum.

Amiri is a Versatile Heritage Hunter Barbarian of the formerly Chaotic Neutral alignment.
